Title Mouse Spoiler
Episode 8
Wow, that was a very sick ending. Haha.

I love how they are using existing theories and studies in this series to build up the twists and turns.

Care to enlighten us why they are suddenly attacking Mr. Queen and dragging its actors into this issue? Was it…
And that is a very good point, "two-faced" or "double standards".

I agree, this whole overreaction by the Koreans (or at least the vocal ones), only shows their double standard on things. While the zealot mob use these issues and non-issues to drag everyone down.

The more we objectively analyze this issue, the more it is appearing there is a group behind this. A lot of it doesn't make any sense, for example, I refuse to believe Koreans can not differentiate between fact and fiction, otherwise, it would mean they're uneducated. For them to turn into a zealot mob, "historical inaccuracy" does not fit because they've been making countless of "historical fiction" and "alternate history" genres of shows for decades.

Currently, I'm seeing it as "because China" and everything else were only used to flame the fire. In mainland China, I actually think their government is behind the cultural attacks against other nations, they are using their own people to attack Korea without making it [obviously] political and militaristic.

I'm glad you understood my question. ^_^

That is the one of the many issues surrounding Mr. Queen but it still doesn't answer why they are dragging a previous show and attacking the actors "today". Also, it doesn't align with the OP's statement about "historical figures".

Sticking to what the OP is arguing about -- "[twisting] historical figures" -- then why are they dragging Mr. Queen and attacking the actors? It's done. It's over.

Obviously the real issue here is "because China". Everything else were just used to flame the fire.

Do people seriously believe Koreans can not differentiate between fact and fiction? Because if that is their culture, then why are the decision makers in production companies, agencies, and sponsors, even the KOREAN actors themselves, agreeing to make dramas that are "historical fiction" or "alternate history"?

They are not dumb nor stupid. The real issue here is "because China". It's not about "historical accuracy" as the OP is claiming.

At first when hearing about the controversies over the Chinese food, I too thought that it was an over-reaction.…
Care to enlighten us why they are suddenly attacking Mr. Queen and dragging its actors into this issue? Was it because they turned king Cheoljong into … what exactly? Was it because king Cheoljong was changed into someone who's actually wise, fair, and removed the Andong Kim clan, contrary to "historical facts"?

So you are saying that alternate history works wherein Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan won World War II is "different"…
And that's the problem. We are only into episode 2 and you and everyone else decided the "historical figures" were turned "bad"?

Do you think the Korean top brass of the production company and TV network will approve the script if it is what you and everyone else are claiming it to be?
Do you think the sponsors would fund their show if it is what everybody is claiming it to be?
Do you think the agencies of the actors, and the actors themselves, will sign-up for their roles?

No. Not one of them will approve it nor give funding because they are Koreans themselves and they know their own people's sensitivities. If they all approved it, if the actors signed-up for their roles even though they can refuse, then it means the script, the plots, and the overall story did not turn "historical figures" into something "bad" but rather is the opposite, they were turned into even a bigger hero.

This issue is nothing but a case of being victimized by a zealot mob because of the "China" issue. In psychology, it was always explained that once a group people turned into a zealot mob, they stop being objective and starts to turn non-issues into big issues. They let Mr. Queen continue because they were enjoying it, they were laughing, and probably they can not find any other faults they can blow over. But look, they are now dragging Mr. Queen too and targeting the actors directly. Can you still honestly say that this was because of turning "good guys into bad guys"? If it really is as simple as that, why drag Mr. Queen and its actors?

If Korea and Japan still had a major issue between themselves when The King: Eternal Monarch was aired, it would probably receive the same treatment as Joseon Exorcist today.

Lols, the current prince is not even member of that association from what I was able to gather.

I have a doubt... I have watched 3 episodes and can't understand how did Jung In get transported to the future…
Jung In (2020) was talking to Jin Woo (2015) through their special cellphone. Only Jung In (2020) remembers the changes because she was involved in it.

She wasn't transported. One scene is in 2015 (past) while the other is in 2020 (present). ^_^

Guess I'll never know what was the deal with those 'Evil Spirits' and whether they were zombies or vampires...
The "evil spirits" are demons under the control of the Fallen Angel Azazel (based on the Book of Enoch).

In Joseon Exorcist, the demons can possess a human being by infecting them with some disease. They are slowly killed, then once dead, they take over the body (blue blood).

Even the Vatican Priest knew when one is a lost cause.

Azazel, if I remember correctly, is the right-hand man of Lucifer.

As to, was the former king and the current king actually involved in bringing Azazel in Joseon? We will never know. I think that rumour is actually a rumour. Remember, rumours are 50% lies and 50% truth. It could very well be that the Vatican warned Joseon capture some Western caravan but they probably asked for asylum so they let them enter.

Take for example, in episode 2, the daughter of some chief was pretty much "human" still when she was brought home. The current king's third son is pretty much still human too. If a Western caravan arrives, and you found nothing wrong with them despite the warnings by some Western nation, as you think of yourself as independent, the natural reaction is to ignore the warning.

In the end, they were wrong. Thus it went down as a rumour that the former king and current king "brought Azazel into Joseon" because if you don't have all the facts, that how it will look exactly.

But they, that's just my analysis based on the clues dropped in both episodes 1 and 2.

Not really. Their sponsors backed out because they're afraid of the zealot mob. ;)

The main cause of this problem is that Korea doesn't have official censorship laws. Not that i support it but…
They used to require SSN in everything they do online. That law was repealed, I think almost 5 years ago. Since then there is an uncontrollable "anonymous keyboard warriors" in their Interwebs.

That law was repealed because it's privacy invasive. Imagine this, when your account in WebZen's games is banned, your accounts in NCsoft games will be automatically flagged. They also have access as to why you were banned and decide for themselves what to do with it (usually they'll keep a watch over you if your ban reason in the other company was a serious one).

That is a privacy issue and I myself is against such.

However, it appears that the decades of suppression of freedom online created a situation wherein when the law was repealed far too many people enjoyed being anonymous. Think of it as a kid who with very strict parents. What do they do when they get some form of freedom? They go wild.

There were moves to reinstate the SSN requirement because they were able to connect "anonymous keyboard warriors" with the increase in suicide rates , however these were either ignored or blocked.

It is a very sensitive issue. It is not easy to balance. If you create a new department to handle check & balances for this law, that also means hiring more people. More people means more potential corruption. Let's face it, corruption is everywhere. The more institutions a government have, the more channels of corruption and complexity in investigation there will be. So it really is hard.

Besides, at this point in time when they all felt the freedom to post online and say whatever they want, it is too late to bring back the SSN requirement. They'll just end up not using their local online services, and instead start establishing off-shore "online forums" where they can say anything they want. In other words, it is unstoppable today.

Too bad this drama is canceled,I think this drama is so good..why we can just enjoy and watch it and dont think…
They can acquire the license for the script. However, they'll have to rename it and pick a non-Korean production team and talents. They will also need to avoid leaking any information that they bought the script or the license for it because once that gets out, the zealot mob will attack them and it will hurt Netflix in Korea.

From a business standpoint, it is not worth it, especially if the people already turned into a zealot mob, which means psychologically they no longer have any rationality and will make everything an big issue. Netflix is still a business.

Can they write a similar story? Sure.

In fact, I doubt they'll push the filming for the next season of Kingdom. They'll probably decide to postpone it indefinitely and wait until the issue about Koreans being anti-"Alternate History" genre dies down.

Is there any hope that it won't be cancelled?
Nope. They can never film in Korea because even the local governments and companies are afraid of the zealot mob.

Any Koreans would be afraid to join the production team too.

That's what a "cancel culture" does, they dig up the past to destroy their latest targets.

even the drama you mentioned received criticism and complaints about its advertisement poster and amazon prime…
You said it yourself "criticism and complaints about its advertisement poster". It was not about the fact that its an alternate history.

> not all countries share the same sentiments when it comes to their history

Tell that to the Jews who were systematically killed by Nazi Germany. Tell that to the Koreans and Filipinos who were raped by solders of Imperial Japan.

Does the novel presents Hitler as a good person, all loving and that he was right in what he did? Basically is…
The mere fact that Nazi Germany won in this alternate history is more than enough to to anger the Jews who were the number victims under Nazi Germany. And considering how very sensitive they are about anything Nazi Germany, they didn't bother with "The Man in the High Castle" … if they did, the Amazon adaptation wouldn't even reach 4 seasons.
