I swear people have lost all critical thinking skills. I wonder why people watch historical dramas and then b*tch about historical accuracy such as patriarchal societies or harams. I honestly find this comment section a tad funny because if a person in real life found out that their spouse was screwing around with someone else for 6 years.....the hate and pettiness would be way worse than this. Yes, he exposed her to her family but he also protected the scene from others walking in. You also have to remember that in the era divorces didn't simply happen. Parents are involved with the marriage decisions so this was an efficient way of him getting a divorce without argument .
Also, she was controlling and manipulative (don't get me wrong, I understand why she is the way she is. Her family treated women like chattel without any regard to their emotional state) but having a marriage to someone like that would definitely wear on the spouse. Most people nowadays cannot manage to make a marriage last even when they marry for love. These 2 didn't know each other and she came into the marriage with hostility (once again, understandable). He also felt like the marriage was a way to make him do the bidding of her family which made him resentful.
All this together for 6 years, I think he was actually pretty kind about it. Because if it was me, I would make my spouses life a living hell for screwing someone else (and I wouldn't have waited 6 years, once would have done it) while we were married.

Also, it is called cancel culture. When people go out of their way to destroys someone's life around a rumor (or not waiting until all evidence is clear) then that is cancel culture. Consequence for actions would be by the police or those close to them. Or if you want to go the fan route, then them simply not going to any movies or events.
