Addictive and fantastic

I decided to watch this drama when it was announced because I wanted to see my baby Raul, I've been following him since he was little and I feel like a proud parent watching this lil cutie grows taller and taller.

Now the story was also nice and i was surprised I loved it that much, but tbh I totally forgot about it for a while and then started it on a whim.

It's very addictive, once I started it I couldn't stop and binge watched the whole thing in a couple of days, it definitely deserves more hype.

Story was amazing and the cast and characters were great, the only thing I didn't like was how they stretched the end, it could be ended with less episodes and it would still be great, besides they didn't even solve his problem with his mother nor did we learn who is his father and why did he end up like that...
Also the very last scene was unnecessary, too dramatic and sad out of no where which messed up the balanced mood of the drama.

Acting was great, I loved all the characters, even the overbearing and dominating father, I could understand his actions to some extent even if I completely disagree with him.
The only character I hated was the ML mother, she was a bit too much.

I wish the FL best friend got a partner, she had good chemistry with 2 characters (won't say who cause spoilers) but I understand they wanted to focus on the leads relationship more and I liked that.

I would recommend this drama because it really deserves more recognition ~~

A man is weakest when in love, and most malevolent when devoid of it.

I stumbled upon this drama by chance, I still don't remember what made me watch it, was it an edit or a review I read, I just impulsively started it and I finished it in one day.... Of course I skipped some scenes because DUH! It's 40ep!! I ain't got the patience for that ~~

But I understand now why everyone is complementing PGY, this is the first drama I've seen for him and he was spectacular!!

The story is nice, a smart cat and mouse games between the two leads, but we can summarise the whole idea of the drama as I said in the headline, because this was what the whole drama revolve around.
Feng Xiao Sheng before falling in love... And Feng Xiao Sheng after ...

The intelligent evil mastermind manipulative FXS has become the weakest slippery and impulsive character after falling for KY, he couldn't even harm her, and he was the cruelest person who treated her with absolute violence.
I knew from the scene where she held his face and asked him to listen to her first before doing anything and he immediately stopped hurting her that he was lost forever, he was attracted to her but now .. it's a hopeless case, because pardon me, the FL mind games were too predictable and the ML was always 4 steps ahead.

I loved him more as the evil manipulative character who is always one step ahead of everyone, be that as it may I'm extremely satisfied with the ending, I mean you don't really expect us to simply forget everything he did and that he is a crazy killer and a bully who ruined a good surgeon's future, right?? He also abused and hit a woman, oh and did I mentioned he KILLED PEOPLE!!! Because the comments I see sympathising with him are hilarious, a good actor doesn't justify his character's evil deed, I mean he was amazing but he is evil!! He deserves what he got!!

Now why did I focus my review on the ML only? Because that's the only good thing about this show!! I'm terribly sorry but the only thing I enjoyed watching was how the two leads fought eachother through mind games, aside from that the police, the family, the gang, the company stuff and the reporters ... All that was uninteresting!! Only the two leads were amazing, and I also didn't talk much about the FL despite doing a great job in her role too because the ML simply outshine her.

That been said, I don't think it deserves 40 episodes, I mean it could be shorter, and it has too many characters with too many side stories which was unnecessary, because I skipped a lot of scenes and still got everything about the story and I didn't feel like I missed anything ~

Same ol' romcomdrama~

If you watched the first lesson and like it, this is just another 6 episodes of the same thing, if you didn't like the first season then what are you doing here??

First season was great, and because I was a lonely introvert like mikoto I felt her deeply so I immediately welcomed the second lesson.
My case wasn't the same, I wasn't saved by someone and because of that,I appreciate Jin's character even more.

Than been said there is nothing more the second season gave except for the backstory of Haijin and Mikoto, you can watch ep 1 and put two and two together easily understanding everything, but it's still fully explained in the last episode so aside from that it's just the same as the first one.

I loved the comedy that pops out from no where, sometimes expected sometimes not, still cute and fun to watch~

Recommended only for fans of the first season ~~

Better than expected

I LOVED it, even slightly more than I thought I would.

Japanese romcoms are usually a hit or miss, so I keep a my expectations within reach because I don't like dropping dramas, and Jdramas tend to be short most of the time so I can safely say it was a safe choice to pick it up.

Surprisingly, this was much more than just average romcom.

1- I loved the story, cast and execution.
Pros: You almost rarely find a drama that has everything, acting was great, story was well executed, cast had great chemistry, no annoying characters or huge misunderstandings, not boring and can be binged easily.
Cons: they danced around the parent acceptance topic, but it can be discarded as they showed their point, "some old folks would accept Cross-Dressing and some wouldn't, let's show that and end it here."

Which is also something I really liked and was surprised to see in asian dramas, specifically in Japan, they always shows one side, either too accepting or against all the way, like, parents are against an idea and that's it, nothing else, but showing another parent that accepts the foreign idea or different preferences is a good addition.
So it's not old people Vs young people, it's just opinions of different people despite their age.

2- Cross-Dressing in a straight drama
Pros: this would really sound weird but I'm glad this wasn't a BL, I watch BL I've actually seen too many, but cross dressing would be for gays only or the feminine males that wanted to be women or feel like women, act like one and be pretty, that's not the case here and i loved that, mainly all drag queens or cross dressers were gay men, but I find it refreshing that also straight men can also do whatever they want, dress and do makeup whatever they like, and also be normal straight men, the duality of the character was like a breath of fresh air.

Cons: not really a con, but there is no background story for the ML and why he love drag, I don't know if it was in the source material but I would like to see that.

3- not the average route for romcoms.
Pros: I think at this point we all were expecting the breakup then getting back together at the end of the series, fortunately, that didn't happen. Also I like that once they got together everything went fast, they didn't drag the story more than necessary, everything was good and happy ending.

I believe those are the main reason I rate this drama high, for me it's quite different than average romcom dramas, not that it's way better, but simply it fixed what usually bothers me in other Japanese dramas, that's why I highly recommend this drama ~~

Nice upgrade but still lacking

Compared to the first part, this is an improvement.

It's like the first part was just the introduction, and this part is the actual story.
First of all the uncut / cut ver are basically same, even the few scenes cut has nothing in it but it's china so...

The story is much better, I would have preferred it to be one whole movie instead of two parts, but nevertheless , this was not bad.

Acting is 2015 style obviously, nothing spectacular about it, just acceptable.
Story shows more in this part with good development and nice pace.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you plan to watch the parts/movie in one setting and have about 3 hours to waste ... Just keep your expectations low.

One of the best I've watched this year

I love Yamapi and basically anything he is in.
This was a very lovely and romantic movie, story is very simple, rely mainly on raw emotions, represented very well and the cast was all very impressive.

The two leads chemistry is spectacular!! I'm surprised a little since I couldn't picture them together at first but once both are on screen, wow it's like they are meant for eachother, they carry their characters very well.

I just didn't like one thing, the FL had to cry a lot ... And I mean A LOT in almost every scene if she isn't smiling beautifully, she is bawling her eyes ~
Also the very last minute switch that solves all the problems just like that *snap fingers* I mean could you at least show us how and why everything had ended the way it did because it's a very last minute thing ~

I recommend this movie if you are a fan of romance and don't mind a little drama, with a very fitting couple and great acting ❣️

Fun but hard to follow

If you are familiar with Japanese humour you will enjoy it.
But for me and after a very exhausting day I believe it's quite hard to follow.

I'm a chemist myself so it's kinda fun to watch some science-based drama which they have done pretty well.

The story is very simple and characters are easy to understand but for me I got tired trying to follow what is going on with all the characters change happening. The sketches are too many and not all of them are funny tbh.
Is it boring? No. For the suitable audience it's very entertaining.
But maybe I picked the wrong time for it.

I may watch it later and raise my rate as I enjoyed somehow although finishing it was quite a chore, had I watched it in a more fitting mood I think I'd have enjoyed it much more ~

Amazing

I have a soft spot for Taiwanese BL, somehow they succeed in making them very light and comforting.

This one is no exception, it's very light, despite having it all, drama, romance, comedy, a little bit of action too, even deep messages and trauma if you want, all whole being very short and entertaining.

Acting wise it's ok, average, don't expect some ground shaking performances, they did well enough to make it watchable and in some parts ever very enjoyable.

The story is simple, it has some very silly moments and also some deep emotional ones, Overall you can't take it too seriously I believe that's what it's all about, to show depths within the story without being too dramatic.

The few things I didn't like were unavoidable, they are literally in every Taiwanese BL I've ever seen, like shoving every actor ever acted in a BL into the series, be it a cameo or a small role,
you have BL in your résumé, you're automatically in!
Underdeveloped story and very marginalized side characters, with many illogical moments to raise an eyebrow for.

So simply put to enjoy this you have to shut your mind completely, and I have to admit this was very entertaining to me, I loved the second couple a lot and I wanted to see more of them, sadly they had little interaction except for like that last 2 episodes maybe.

If you love Taiwanese BL you'll love this one~

Very funny

If you have seen NGNL you know then that these couple were the pole of the comedy in it, their interactions were super fun and here they just raised the bar a notch and successfully delivered.

The mini series was super fun, it has a duration of a movie and they used every single minute well, acting was good, even the cringe parts were watchable and that's a good point.
We got to see the web novel everyone was talking about in NGNL and the perfect life Jayeon dreamt about, and the scene with her father sent a direct arrow to my kokoro!

What I didn't understand was the switch from YooJin to SangYi, I mean I know that Jayeon and Hajun (SangYi ver.) were end game IRL but the point in the story IRL where she had the accident and dreamt of the whole thing they were still enemies, The Real life Hajun was still the hater and she told him to go die just a few minutes ago, so it came off weird and odd that she fantasised about him.
Also due to that, now the scenes in NGNL was slightly changed or adjusted to fit her dreams, she was never "relieved" that he didn't actually die because of the truck, yes she didn't want him to die but she didn't say that she is relieved nor did she smile at him in the original series which would change the whole thing, because the first time Hajun saw Jayeon smile IRL and started to have feelings for her wasn't in the hospital so this kinda shift a lot of minor moments from NGNL that they could have skipped easily.

Overall abd despite the one point I mentioned this is very good mini drama that is very enjoyable and re-watchable.

Simple mystery

I loved how they take a very complicated but good story and make it so simple and easy to watch.
The idea isn't new by all means and despite having a dark side to it, the way it was represented was very light and not so complicated.

What I loved about it is the chemistry and interaction between the leads, I also loved their romance.

What I didn't like was how random everything was happening, while it was overly simplified, it crossed the threshold of being slightly confusing in term of what can or cannot happen with some characters.

Also the cliffhanger end is bothersome because now we have to wait for the second part to have a closure, but knowing that a second part is being released soon and almost done made it less annoying ~

I would recommend it if you like the genre but want something very light ~

This tried so hard... And sadly it failed.
The story is interesting in the beginning, then somehow it gets more and more confusing and not in a Sherlock Holmes way that you have to follow the bread crumbs and arrange the puzzle to get the whole picture!
No it's in a very boring way, I almost fell asleep while watching.

The whole thing could be solved if they have shown him the video, I don't understand the need for all this encryption if they can solve all his struggles in 30 seconds.

Also you can easily watch the first episode and half of the last one and you will understand the whole story without missing a thing, which is weird considering that this should be a psychological drama with story building up and so to reach a final conclusion, but no, you can easily fill the blanks with anything after watching 1.5 episodes out of 8.

One thing I didn't understand was spoiler in the synopsis here, we all knew before starting the show that his "father" is dead which was a secret that was revealed in THE LAST EPİSODE.
Also I respect the "horror" elements they tried to include because it's a psychological drama, but they failed in this part miserably.

I mean after finishing, I don't understand the reason we have to invest all this time and emotions to follow a plot about a secret that needn't be a secret and requires only a few seconds to put this poor man out of his misery.

I watched the whole drama, I didn't understand a thing.

The story telling is so boring, the story itself isn't that interesting, moreover the subtitles was hideous and it made it worse for me to understand some parts, however I didn't miss much as it was pretty simple plot, it just didn't make any sense ~

Also there were too many characters, this is the most side characters I've ever seen in a vertical drama, they usually do the whole thing with just 4-5 actors, if not with the two leads only, which add to the confusion ~~

This is a BL, or tried hard to be, the two leads rely on hiding faces in necks and rolling to show intimate scenes, be that as it may, it's was fine I was interested in the ghost stories more than the intimate parts.

The two leads despite not having the best chemistry but they did their best in the show.

I don't recommend it, VD are supposed to be easy and enjoyable for a couple of hours you have to spare, yet this was boring so skip it ~

Ummm

It's a very lovely series but also very flat and slow.

At first I thought it'd be something like "hidden love" fluffy, funny and romantic, but it was more like " the first frost" more melancholic and healing than fluffy, and tbh up to ep12 it was very enjoyable.

That been said, there is a big difference between showing day to day life of interesting characters and their relationship, and inserting unnecessary obstacles in the life of the leads.

Let me point out what I didn't like about the drama
1- It's unnecessarily longer than needed, we can get our happy end by ep 12 max, yet they have to show weird things and miscommunications happened between the leads to stop any type of closure just to keep the show going, which is tbh really annoying. It happened earlier with the "dad" situation that could be easily solve a whole episode of "sulking" on the FL behalf if she maybe just asked directly about the kid, but no, we have to misunderstanding the situation and get pissed off at an innocent person who BTW was still just a "friend" at this point.

2- too many unrealistic incidents, everyone is connected to everyone in a very creepy way, if I got a penny for each time the two leads meet by chance on the street, I'd be a billionaire, because that's unrealistically too many times, I know that it's supposed to be over a long period of times but still, even a stalker would have a day off or something.

3- lack of communication, I don't know what do writers love about this trope, why can't people just talk and ask questions, including the second couple here, why not just talk, instead of webbing scenarios in your mind and then acting upon it.

4- side characters' story, it was simple friends to lovers but it was pretty odd here, the drama is already longer than needed and they didn't even bother to give them a proper storyline, like they are arguing, sulking, mad, then boom! In a relationship, that happens because they talked it out but seriously?? All this building up to one moment, just like that?? I dare say if they choose the same route for the two leads story and made them talk to eachother, I bet both would get together by ep 5 or something and the drama would be done by then.

I believe this is a nice healing drama, but since I don't watch many Chinese dramas nor am I a fan of long dramas in general I couldn't help but skim through the rest of it.
Would I recommend it? I don't know, maybe give it a try, if you are a fan of Chinese drama this is nice in general but just not for me.

I vaguely remember watching the Japanese version and the movie sequel but I don't believe they were the same as this drama.

Because if I remember one thing, it's that the Japanese one didn't have a good end at all, not the show nor the movie xD and I dare say, as should be!!

I can understand how they went with the story, even the cheating characters and the reason behind it, but I can't for the life of me understand Jung Woo's wife "Min young".
Honey, if someone marries you to get your ass out of a messy infidelity relationship, and you leave this guy for 3 years alone to achieve your dreams in a another country then he asks you for a divorce! You give him one!! Because the whole "good wife" character isn't you!! You did the same before so if your husband cheated, you should not dare to act hurt or confront him and force him into a relationship with you!! You reap what you sow !!

Now for other characters
FL: coward 1 ... Because I don't think your husband being a nice guy is a reason enough to not ask for a divorce if you can't breathe without the ML... Just divorce him, because after all this mess, you will end up divorced anyway, and even if we put cheating aside, girl!! The way he treated you Vs the birds?? FFS why are you with him?? Because Nice isn't a quality enough to keep you married to him, so he treated you badly, didn't notice when you are sick or even care about you, moreover you have a sexless marriage for 3 years??? 3 FREAKIN YEARS, MATE!!! And not to mention his intrusive mother who keep stressing you about kids while it's her son's fault!! What exactly were you waiting for to leave?? What made me more furious is the fact that by the end of the series, he is now married with a child! C'mon! If you don't like your wife enough to sleep with her or she can't make you"get it up", then leave her don't push her into a marriage that is useless for both of you ~

ML: coward 2, what's keeping you in this marriage? Give me one reason to stay in it? You have never loved her, never cared about her, she belittles you and low-key ashamed of you, she leaves you behind for 3 years and come back after learning with your money to look down on you... Tell me again why are you in this relationship???

SFL: now here I kinda see a reason to stay in this damned marriage, 2 kids one of them is practically a baby, still the husband is terrible, I don't understand one thing, you were this open brave woman who cheated repeatedly with literally everyone and you were so out and about, telling people you don't even know about your rendezvous openly, then oh my god my kids!! My husband caught me!! And I can't live without them, you suddenly remember that you are a mother? Oh please!! You are a great mother for sure, but you saw that coming ~

SML: Mr. Enigma... I just don't understand him, so I'll just leave him be~

One thing I didn't like generally about this show is so many intrusive characters, like the high schooler kid? Wtf is wrong with you!! If you have a family situation just focus on your family, don't go and snoop around other people's affairs!! And the hoobae in FL's husband's office, girl get a grip!! You have this long confrontation with the FL about her husband while you practically did the same, you kissed a married guy and keep popping up everywhere he is!! So how dare you, bitch!!!

Lastly, I think this one was more sugar coated version, and slightly stretched, I don't think this needed 16 episodes it could be 12 and that would definitely be more than enough ~

It's a cute and sunny short drama, the comedy was lost on me but it's obvious that they went for a rom-com, underlining the com. Part.

I love the couple so I enjoyed it, generally it was a bit draggy for my taste, started funny and light then it's all a secret past with conspiracies and mysteries that needed to be solved.

It's not badly done, it's quite enjoyable, but I would have preferred it more if it was focusing only on the rom-com as the romance was pushed till the like the last quarter of the series, and comedy was only in the beginning.

Recommended if you like the lead couple ~~
