This is a masterpiece! And honestly, I don’t get why so many people are confused about the ending? (I tried…
I would say the theme of the show is second chances.
Basically, it's about the following: Myung Ha (29 years old) impulsively decides to take his own life after his grandmother died, his girlfriend left him, he has no friends in life and his mother pretends she doesn't know him. Before he died, he wished he had someone who would stay by his side, support him and love him. (You see this part towards the end of the show, the shooting star scene, where you also see what happened in his ‘first life’)
The show begins with the aftermath of the wish. He's sitting in a bar (after he died) talking to fate (I assume). He's depressed about life, talks about how everything is pre-written by Fate and that you can't change anything no matter what happens. Fate (the author) asks him if he could make the story better if he had the chance, and tells him about the plans for a new game version where the player can make decisions and choose a path. (He sort of bets Myung Ha if he could come to a better ending if he were the player) Overall, I think this part of the series represents how some things in life are given (the game's mission), but how you can decide what to do with them.
Anyway, in the end, Myung Ha's main goal becomes to make Yeo Woon happy because he fell in love with him. He really wants Yeo Woon to be happy and after he tried so hard, thought the only way remaining would be to make Yeo Woon the author / main character (the first thing he writes: Yeo Woon, author). But this makes his own role in the story unnecessary and he himself and the memories of him are erased. Luckily, a few things remain and so he is later rediscovered and Yeo Woon finds his notes about the game (which Myung Ha used to write in the little book) and he finds the author's pen which he uses to wish Myung Ha a happy life (it's love, they just want happiness for the person they love 😭 ) Therefore, Myung Ha comes back to the world where he was still 19 and gets his second chance at a happy life ❤️ (His wish became true, Yeo Woon was the person supporting him til the end..)
(Please don't take my bad English into consideration. This is my interpretation of the show, maybe it helps to enlighten a few things)
This is a masterpiece! And honestly, I don’t get why so many people are confused about the ending? (I tried to write my interpretation in the spoiler below)
Ok let me correct myself, he’s not only annoying he is just dumb and infuriating. You got a whole group of evildoers…
How stupid do you need to be to think your supposed to be evil mastermind devil, who plans everything and gets rid of every clue, just let’s a phone with his contact info on a victim? This shit is just maddening! Honestly, I think GaOn just wants a reason to stab someone..seems like a hidden desire he couldn’t get rid of -_-
GaOn is so annoying.. this proofs that you only see and believe what you want to see/believe (hello confirmation…
Ok let me correct myself, he’s not only annoying he is just dumb and infuriating. You got a whole group of evildoers (killing innocent people, which is a fact) on one side and a person who is being labeled as devil on another. Let’s take the the safe way and stay on the side of the real killers, and let’s not believe the one being doubted (oh and let’s tell him you only did it to protect him, cause naturally, you’re an angel yourself) 🙄😑 🙄😑 🙄😑
Wow, ok… 😤 At first, I really enjoyed this show, cause it had great character design and interesting plotlines.…
If youre here for romance you’ll have to wait for 19 eps just to see them get married, shadow kiss and …and that’s the absolute best thing: see ML leaving after one night together. Had to be the worst wedding night of all times, cause he decided to leave FL (for more than a year), making her believe he’s dead. Worst of all: literally everyone knows he isn’t dead, but why bother telling FL about it, I mean, ML doesn’t want her to know, so let’s respect his wishes.
And if it wasn’t for the cute SML, the FL would have never known about it. And what does the independent and strong FL do? She just accepts everything and continues to be happily devoted to her husband. But maybe I just misunderstood and that’s the greatest punishment ever (at least for a husband who obviously didn’t want to be one, seeing how he put everyone’s interests above his wife’s) 😡 😤 😡
By the way, afterwards, they just continue as if nothing ever happened. Seriously? So was it all just to fill another episode?
This drama was just infuriating as hell… and it’s a real pity, cause I loved the plot around the 6 (+ FL) material arts brothers and sisters. Would’ve loved to see more of them.
Wow, ok… 😤 At first, I really enjoyed this show, cause it had great character design and interesting plotlines. I could even overlook the cheap budget, emotional handicapped Ml and ridiculous cutscenes. But then, the plot around ep 21 began.
I absolutely hate dramas in which strong independent women become goody two shoes housewives. It was one of those „Ml can do everything and I’ll just accept it like a good little wife“ plots. ML became the typical „everything and everyone is more important than my love and I just sell it as self-sacrifice“ troops. (Please, see spoiler below!!)
What really irritated me was the way FL played the mother figure for ML in the first half of the drama. Also, FL gave me whiplash, changing from goody two shoes to mother figure to business guru to crying pretty girlfriend or whatever and back again…-_-
This show has a profound plotline and is a masterpiece in case of character development (especially MLs), but the romance was just too slow for my taste (see spoiler for time of first kiss)
I really like this drama so far, but let me talk about the funny basic drama logic for a second: 1. seoul is a tiny little place, which explains why GaOn is always on hand when a crime happens. 2. because Seoul is such a tiny place, there are surprisingly large streets, but of course no one uses them because there aren't many citizens (which explains why the streets are always empty and available for car chases). 😂 ❤️
Not for me. While it does have its good points (cinematography, actors, ..) I was disappointed with the length,…
1. Teasing with at first kiss in ep 8 and then nothing really happens until ep 34 😤
2. …She went back to her hometown and ml had to give up his live in the palace instead. I mean with how she told everyone how perfect live in her hometown was, that would’ve been some refreshing plot line instead of the usual c drama one..
Plus, it was kind of sarcastic how ml told fl she was his one and only wife (in the morning) and how he married another women literally the same day (aka in the evening).. 🙄
Not for me. While it does have its good points (cinematography, actors, ..) I was disappointed with the length, the progress of romance (see spoilers below 1.), and especially how they lost focus of the main plot. It began with the fls hardship in accepting anything else then monogamy. She was very focused on it and kind of implicated that you’ll get shamed on everything else in her hometown. And later on, that wasn’t a problem anymore cause of love? I mean yeah, ml was working on it but honestly, I’d preferred it if the plot went a bit different from there on (especially with the whole feminism thing included) I’d really enjoyed it if.. (see spoiler below 2.)
So..overall I’d say this one is more on the lighthearted and silly side, and that just wasn’t for me.
Personal opinion: Loved it till around ep 9, then it just went downhill and became irrational, annoying and repetitive as hell (and I began to understand why some called fl annoying. How often can you whine about being exhausted in a releationship after just becoming a couple 5 minutes ago? for my taste: too often in this series. 🙄 )
But to add a few good points: Production quality is amazing, great and awesomely handsome actors, nice plot until ep 9
Another point of criticism: The focus is more on drama (which becomes increasingly unreasonable as the series progresses) than on relationship development
I’m so pissed right now, I seriously hate the ‘going behind loved ones back’ and asking ‘do you trust me’ while lying trough your teeth in the same sentence.. I really liked the plot, the characters and everything so far, but this trope (around ep 33) is just too much and unnecessary on top! They should have ended the series sooner if they couldn’t write something better than this! Especially after they focused on how much FL treasures truth beforehand (and filming x eps about how she’s mad cause ml lied to her, are you f*cking kidding me? ) There is no sense left at all 😡
Uhm.. the ending was rather disappointing for me just now. I thought there were 35 eps, but somehow I only found the version with 33 eps. Don’t know if there is further content in the last two eps? Can someone tell me the difference between the two versions, please?
Anyway, in my eyes, the ending of the 33 ep version is way too abrupt for my taste. What a bummer.. Kudos to ML, though. I only stayed for him, the actor did an amazing job and the character was very will written ❤️ ♥️ ❤️
I don’t know why but somehow, this drama seems really slow. I'm currently on episode 6 but I feel like nothing is really happening. Is it just the beginning, will there be a change at some point or is this the general pace of the series?
