maybe international fans feel this way, but none of the criticism in mainland is about the dubbing, mainly the plot points. journey of a flower and eternal love were huuuuge hits despite using voice dubbing, so my conclusion is that people in the mainland have grown used to it. ive heard the bts, and I agree that some of the emotionally charged clips were equally great with their original voices 🫶

oh they release bts short clips all the time on the lin jiang xian official weibo, and hearing their dialogue kinda helps the audience get the gist of upcoming plot events

same with AMA, they talked about selecting VA carefully to fit actor's face and character. Ex. I didn't even know Eternal love cast was basically all dubbed cause I was more clueless about the dubbing situation

he's always been hyper / taking the initiative during drama promo, but the recent lives have been quite explosive cause they're both very good at 营业 = marketing drama through building chemistry. I think they're cute tg, but keep in mind great actors can never be trusted 😂 pairs can act overly shy or overly affectionate to market or to hide their real relationships, one can never predict

This drama has brought me sm thrill compared to many recent ones, so I'd hate for it to end soon as well. However, I want to use TTEOM as an example of how fast pacing works. In just one episode, Bingchang was exposed and Xiaoling was heartbroken, Pianran got her love thread back, and Bingchang made Li Susu unintentionally poison their grandmother. The next episode, TTJ makes LSS stab XL out of hatred, and their lovey dovey arc ends just like that. We see the same in Feud; love/hate turns on and off like a light switch since their schemes not only fool each other, but also us, the audience 😂

We first need to cross over the misunderstanding over Shi An (BJS will see the mortal past of HRY and learn of her pain), then we'll enter the "sweet" arc, where BJS will follow HRY like an eager newlywed due to lost memories (which could also be an act ?!😅). When he "regains" them, he'll feel the guilt and voluntarily stab himself under HRY's sword (seen in the trailer), but she gradually lets her resentment dissipate when she sees his earnestness so she won't just let him die / chase after his life like she used to.

I would like more episodes, but if it moves at this continuous pace, we get plenty of screen time of them "switching roles" (now BJS is less stoic and more peppy like LQY/HRY once was). If you watch the following episodes with fear that an HE can't be achieved, you'll only miss the little details that make the show complete. The incoming arc will still have angst, but it'll be balanced by sweet interactions, so please look forward w/ hope ! 🫶

currently on 18 (iirc), and I think it's a great watch! it's def more enjoyable to watch while the discussion here is lively so you can ask questions or debate. I would say the main deciding factor of whether you'll like this or not is open-mindedness. I see many people here going bonkers / ballistic on one character without thinking from their perspective, so I would warn you to pay attention to the small details / sequence of events to fully sympathize with their tragedy. it's an HE, but currently amidst an angsty arc. lmk if you have any questions!

You're asking about why she didn't investigate his reason for not wanting a child ? or sealing her powers ? To me, it was like a consequential chain of events. In marriage, not wanting a child is quite a normal life choice, but he gave no justifiable explanation. It evidently discouraged HRY from asking for more, since her and her husband had different ideals for their future. Afterwards, he warned her out of care to not meddle with mortal affairs, but she already had an image of him as a cold/indifferent character, so her drawn conclusion was that all of his actions were for the mortal tribulation w/o any real love for her.

The worst recipe for disaster in a marriage is when either side believes their partner loves them less than they do. She continued the mortal trial for her child and even begged the gods to help her find him. She was willing to let go of hate / take blame for everything if he came back to be a father for Shi An. In the mortal world, her only help was Meng Chang Qin. Her powers were sealed, so at the time, she couldn't go begging for help from her disciples amidst the trial.

In the real world, there are many situations when you don't ask why. When you're cheated on, when you feel like your partner's love has diminished, when you feel like your marriage is going south due to differing ideals etc. HRY's POV was that he had long since grown apart from her and would not support her in pregnancy. It's not about how loving they were in the past, once you feel like your marriage is hopeless, you wallow in despair.

Like you said, ML often asked "why" and could never had guessed she had a child w/o the little clues, but in HRY's pov he would've never wanted the child and would only reject that reality (said 不可能 = no way when he first found out). They were close for centuries/millenia, but remember that their lotus marriage thing was only after the mortal trial. She had powers and he didn't, so if they were to reconvene, it would have to be out of his volition.

In another comment I said he was more attuned to logos (logic), she was more attuned to pathos (emotion); while he searched for the whys of everything, she only cared for him to return and support the family. He has the responsibility for guarding the Infinite Steele, naturally he's more of a rule follower. She had to hold onto Shi An because it was the only remembrance of BJS left to accompany her. It's normal to take sides (as everyone does in this comment section), but truthfully, I sympathize for the mortal arc from her perspective. She felt that they were growing apart but never wanted to stir the snake (confrontation) bc everything could fall apart with one discussion.

I'm 17 so I've never been married or pregnant, but I was still touched by her strength in defending her child in the mortal realm. I also pity BJS for only being able to feel regret after the tragedy. I get your frustration bc this is how everyone reacts to the miscommunication trope, but I like how this one was written bc their perceived imbalance of love is realistic.

omg a rare gem comment found 😭 people like to fault characters for actions that anyone would’ve done in their shoes. the dramatic irony makes the audience forget that BJS and HRY cannot see the full picture yet, hence why their hatred becomes a shield for their love (both afraid to express genuine affecrjon under the assumption that other side never loved them)
