I will just say that if the roles were reversed and it was ML doing the violence, the comment section would be…
most of my responses are essay length so im trying to keep this short. the theme and impact of motherhood simply can’t be transferred between genders. her pain through pregnancy and weakness from the childbirth can be felt only by her. still, i understand that you believe people are leaning too much towards FL. it does come in waves bc i recall seeing a BJS support dominated comment section recently. he did take punishment for her but never explained; he left the impression that he didn’t wish to start a family with her without explaining it was because of what he learned in heaven; imagine your lover shows no care for a happy family future and seals away your powers painfylly without good explanation? HRY failed to heed his warnings and im not leaning towards her either, but I think it’s important to think from both sides to fully understand their tragedy. their mutual love is admirable, yet the way they act on that love is what tears them apart. to me, that’s a yum plot 😋
how is it so far? engaging? compared to mm and tteom, is it on the same par?
my personal ranking is feud > tteom > mm, all three have great acting and heavy angst, but I find myself more enamored by the twists and turns in this script. as you can tell by the hectic comment section, it’s quite discussion-provoking since we’re divided on two sides (supporting FL or ML actions). MM also has great surprises, but I always felt like it took to long to introduce those events, and I stayed for the actors even though my hype faded away. TTEOM is also enemies/lovers switching, but I lean toward Feud’s story simply because the characters are written with more layers, feels better than most novels. I still love all three greatly, but I would say bai lu’s acting is more moving here !! my preference seems to be quite different from some, so keep in mind that this’ll only be enjoyable if you care more than surface level plot 🫶
director's choice, most likely bc LQY/HRY has a wide vocal range (high/sweet voice vs deep/domineering voice),…
besides modern dramas (which almost always use the originals actor’s voice, she’s only voice acted in MM and SOKP and YLC. I get what you mean tho, she’s recently been using OG voice more so fans would likely anticipate it more 🫶
I love the comment section here so much. It's so lively😂❤️
I made the mistake of waiting for airing finish for Prisoner of Beauty, now I know it's much more thrilling to watch while the discussion is at its peak, even if it means waiting more 🥲
director's choice, most likely bc LQY/HRY has a wide vocal range (high/sweet voice vs deep/domineering voice), but bai lu typically original voices characters with a lower register (feng hua, xue ning etc)
Idk why but for me hua ruyue character is now getting super annoying. For the f*cks sake tell him that you were…
BJS and HRY are intentional foils of each other 🫶 BJS had good intentions, but throughout their time in the mortal realm, their worldviews were what kept them separate. She left on journeys to help Meng Changqin without consulting BJS which is why he felt hurt, but he also never openly expressed his plans to leave to take punishment. Whenever she asked about helping mortals, he would dismiss it coldly. They both have their right to feel angry, after all, how could a plot spark discussion if the FL and ML were of like mind for 32 episodes straight?
He failed to explain the reason for not wanting a child out of care for her health (she would've carried on knowing the incompatibility for immortals to get pregnant), which made her afraid to confess about the pregnancy (who would want to have a child without a loving father?). In the current timeline, they both hesitate with their explanations because one's worldview is what keeps them alive and sane.
HRY toiled through her troubles in the mortal world while still protecting her child, BJS has the role of protecting the Infinite Steele thus cannot disregard heaven's rules. The tragedy is that it's often difficult to abandon the way you live or compromise your beliefs. Even if it's for love, BJS sees HRY's sympathy as a neglect of his advice and as stubbornness, and HRY sees BJS's care for her wellbeing as a dismissal of mortal pain. Essentially, plot: conflicting worldviews, scheme out of hatred, resolve through compromise.
Perhaps the 8.1 rating is because the average viewer does not tolerate long angst, but I truly feel helpless seeing so many comments fail to acknowledge the foil of their characters. People say the characters are poorly written simply bc it's a frame story (timeline jumps) and creates holes in the known information. Maybe one day, more people will open up to the concept of *inductively reasoning* instead of scraping the surface of the plot without searching deeper.
All frustration and confusion is justified, art is meant to provoke emotion, however I'm just too stubborn to accept the fact that this whole charade can be blamed on just one side. I hope for more people to enjoy their progression 🥲😖
It's not wrong to take a side, but I see that many comments are missing the point that the plot is intentionally juxtaposing these two. They will both scheme and act for their purpose, and reconciliation only comes when they let down their defenses to accept new truths.
idk if this link works but I would be spamming this emote, each episode makes me lose my marbles and throw my emotions in disarray (in a good way (?) )
