Her dissociating into the sword master was done well. But her secrets are going to come and bite her
100 percent we can see her senior brother is definitely suspicious now, I think he went up to lishan mountain to see what's going on, I fear the secrets are about to come out
Gonna mention ashes of crown, only 24 eps so pretty quick for a historical cdrama. In my opinion it was decent, like ok but not great. Some may disagree and I totally get it, looking at the comments on the page some loved it while some felt the same as me, so this is just my opinion. Theres kind of a break up, I would classify it as one but some may not, I'll explain later and a happy ending.
The drama is carried by the chemistry between ml and fl. The chemistry is very good from pretty much ep 1, they look great together. They have a pretty hot romance, fl especially early on is very flirty and teasing with him, which was something different and nice to see. I would say they get together officially around ep 10 with their first kiss but its hard to define, theres no like confession its more natural. From ep 2 fl trusts ml more than anyone due to what happened in the plot, she teases and flirts with him, and he does back. They are very cute and the moments they are together their chemistry shines, so like officially I would say ep 10, but long before then they act as a couple.
They are super supporting of each other and trust each other with their lives, except for one instance, the kind of break up. In ep 12, fl finds out her father is poisoned by medicine given by ml, ml had no idea the medicine was poisonous, he was set up. But when fl finds out, her first reaction is to point a bow and arrow at ml and think about shooting him. She doesn't in the end, but this for me is kind of a break up as she points a bow and arrow at him, thinks about killing him and this is cold/ignores him for a while. This happens near end of ep 12. They make up in ep 14, she finds out the real story near end of ep 13 and makes up with him in ep 14. So pretty much an episode and a half of her ignoring him/being cold to him, I consider this a break up but some may not. Its kind of because they never say things out right, she never said we're breaking up and they never said we're getting back together, need to just go more on the feel and actions of the leads.
Besides this the leads are extremely supporting and trusting of each other, their chemistry is great and their couple moments are very cute, while also sometimes being pretty hot. The leads and their romance were great for me, really enjoyed their relationship and chemistry.
Where this drama isn't that good in my opinion is the story, the actors did a great job, but the story for me was not it. The start was very strong, got me very interested, but after like ep 14ish it went a bit downhill for me. The ml I felt was relegated a lot, even earlier in the drama I felt this, I know this is fl centric, but it wasn't ml's screen time but what he did with it, seems like ml really didn't help fl at all or do much besides the occasionally fighting. Felt like the other male characters I will mention were put to better use than the ml.
Theres no real 2ml, in ep 1 fl was in love with someone else deeply, but he betrayed her and killed her then she went back in time, from then on she hates the person. So no real romantic 2ml, and no 2fl which is nice, but there are a couple of other male characters that take up a lot of screen time, especially ml's step brother, who I'll call the 2ml. For a majority he didn't bother me, but near the end, when ml went to war then was presumed dead, there was a lot of time where fl and this 2ml spend a lot of time with each other, working together, plotting and being kind of close. For me felt a little weird thats all, like ml fighting in war and then presumed dead, and this 2ml who is obviously a villain, fl seems a bit too close with/trusting. Now maybe this is just me, others may feel different and to fair I didn't mind him for like the majority of the drama except the last 2-3 eps. Also like I mentioned ml supposedly dies in like ep 22 I think it was, before returning and rescuing fl in ep 23 or 24 so mini separation but a happy ending.
For me also the plot was a bit repetitive without accomplishing much, pretty much 3 villains all survive until the last 3ish eps. A lot of scheming by everyone involved, but they don't really accomplish much until near the end. Around mid way became pretty stagnant, a lot of scheming but nothing really changed until the final few eps.
The dramas highlight was the ml and fl, their chemistry and relationship like I said was great, just wished we saw more and was more utilized. And the happy ending was cute and nice.
Ultimately, if you're a fan of the leads or enjoy only focusing on a romance, this drama is a decent watch, the leads were very enjoyable together. Some comments loved it and I can totally see why, if you can kind of shut of your brain and not think too much about the plot, its not bad, the start is pretty damn strong and draws you in. If romance is your main focus this can be quite enjoyable, if someone people just want a nice, hot and cute romance to watch, you'll will probably love this. Besides the mini break up, the relationship between the leads is really good all round, from pretty much ep 1 their chemistry is sizzling. But if you're the type where the plot means a lot, then it went downhill about midway in. For me, I enjoyed the leads a lot, but overall as a cdrama it was just ok for me. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't that good either. No hate, just my honest opinion.
I plan on starting this now, really looking forward to it love the cast but just wanted to ask so I know what to expect going in, is there romance between either of the ml's and the fl who I guess is Zhang Hai Qi or is it more strictly bromance/friendship/brotherhood type? Or are they all related since they share the same last name?
I'm fine with either one but just want to know what to expect going in.
I guess the FL bashing and sorry bashing because the romance is not moving forward has started . Bai Lu actually…
Also I just want to say, when has it ever been a rule the ml and fl must fall in love at the same time/have the same feelings. I feel like people are so used to cdramas with one dimensional love stories, ml and fl both insanely in love with each other, but thats not how romance works.
And have the FL & ML felt more distant than in the current episodes (20, skipped 21) & upcoming episodes…
Respectfully, what are you talking about. They kissed in today's ep, they just started sleeping in the same bed in yesterday's ep, only had their first kiss yesterday. What do you mean stopped being handsy, and stopped kissing, they were never that handsy until recently and only had their first kiss yesterday.
She talked about prince li with him and their previous relationship, in previews we see tomorrow they talk about where she has been going have a small argument as couples do.
Also war can't last forever, if you don't conquer the other country then peace is necessary, so when an opposing country send a diplomatic envoy, they did what they needed to do to entertain them.
I am referring to consort Qin's and ED's conversation in ep. 20. When ED asked Qin what was she worried about…
I will just say I don't think thats fair to say a smart person doesn't believe in crap, historically lots of very smart people have believed in things proven to not be true later. In historical china divination and divining things by the stars was very prevalent, believing such things fits with the time period. I mean historically there were times when some of the smartest people in the world believed the sun revolved around the earth instead of the other way around. We now know thats crap, but back then they didn't.
Divination was hugely popular and use widely in historical china, emperors and such use to believe it, so makes sense she does. We can't judge by today's standards.
Oh sorry my bad I thought you meant when does ml find out, fl hasn't found out yet as of todays eps, but its coming close. Her senior brother is now suspicious and has gone to lishan mountain to see what's going on, he returns in tomorrow's ep, and probably tells her soon. So I'm guessing she'll find out very soon maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after but soon.
From what I understand, seems like fl discovers her delusions, likely from her senior brother returning, so fl…
Yeh we know we get a sweet reunion and I'm like 100 percent certain we get a happy ending as well so we just gotta remember that during the heartbreak haha
From what I understand, seems like fl discovers her delusions, likely from her senior brother returning, so fl…
Oh ok didn't know that she said that yeh makes sense its definitely going to be super emotional, I feel like we're getting to that emotional/angst stage gonna be heartbreaking
From what I understand, seems like fl discovers her delusions, likely from her senior brother returning, so fl…
I remember that scene as well, but I'm not sure like maybe he wasn't writing a divorce letter just some kind of sad letter, or maybe it was a divorce letter I'm unsure. Idk, so many questions though same her every confused but looking forward to finding, at the same time I really don't want to find out cause its gonna be heartbreaking haha I agree I hope its short.
Massive massive spoilers of what’s to come, if you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t watch https://x.com/mybailuv/status/2067118719004987657?s=46I'll…
From what I understand, seems like fl discovers her delusions, likely from her senior brother returning, so fl writes a divorce letter to ml then leaves to lishan mountain. Ml's hair goes white from extreme sadness and searching for her, eventually he finds her at lishan mountain and they reunite. So it's in fact fl that initiates the divorce, seems like due to extreme guilt of forgetting everything that happened at lishan and putting ml through so much trouble. Just pretty much she feels guilt and unworthy of ml anymore. They reunite though at lishan, looks so sweet and emotional when they reunite, then seems like they fight off some rebellion likely by prince li in the end.
