for some reason, these actors' fandoms take the criticisms as personal attack towards their faves. they dont realise how imp it is to call such things out bc acc to them, its just an intro which can be skipped. what they dont realise is their faves will soon start getting replaced and we will be left w nothing but ai slop in this industry

no, baobao was perfectly casted. i've read the novel and manhua both and its not a stretch to say baobao is zhou wan, the writers basically didn't have to change anything for her, she's just existing as written. the ml on the other hand was more of a cold beauty in the source material but his characterisation was changed a lot in the drama, so zhou keyu also fit perfectly, but that's only because they rewrote lxx for the show. if they had followed the novel closely, keyu wouldn't suit the role at all, his whole vibe just isn't that cold beauty energy. that's not the case for baobao though, she would fit in perfectly either way, novel accurate or drama version, so honestly her casting says more about how right she is for the role while keyu's casting says more about the choices the adaptation made
i don’t care what anyone says, but “simp” male leads will always be my favorite genre of ML. i’ll take a man who’s obsessed with, respects and openly adores the female lead over the old school toxic MLs any day.
for years, so many dramas normalized male leads treating women like trash, constant humiliation, bullying, emotional manipulation, and even letting their FRIENDS walk all over the FL while she silently endured it. sumhow that was considered romantic. now that we’re finally getting more yearner male leads, suddenly people are acting like they’re unrealistic or boring.
the “yearner ML” trend is only becoming mainstream now. we’ve already had decades of cold, emotionally unavailable, arrogant, and toxic male leads. if that’s your preference, those dramas still exist so you have plenty to choose from. let the rest of us enjoy men who actually communicate, respect boundaries, support the woman they love, and aren’t afraid to show affection.
