On Hospital Playlist Season 2 May 27, 2021
With the new trailer, we finally get some more scenes! What are your theories for this season?
These are mine (based on rough trailer translation from YT):

- I was surprised that Song Hwa is getting pissed that something will take one year (her break from Yulje I suppose? Why was she so pissed, if it was her own choice to move?) My guess would be that she's even more overworked there or... maybe she misses a certain someone?
- Based on that and Jun Wan's "congratulations on your comeback" line, I actually believe that the first few (4-6) episodes will be from her year away (as they still haven't finished the filming process), and then she'll be back. Or is Jun Wan talking about Ik Sun? But I doubt that 3 years would go by in 1 season!
- Also the 4 boys were hyping Song Hwa in the front of the hospital - maybe cause they see her after a long time?
- It certainly does not seem that there's any awkwardness between Song Hwa and Ik Jun, when they ask each other to eat together. If they do get together at the beginning of the season, that would be surprising to me though (I thought they would keep us in the dark for at least a few episodes)
- Jung Won & Gyeul seem to be professional around each other... But what was that mellow look from Jung Won in the middle of the trailer? You can't convince me that it was towards someone other than her... I hope that they keep their relationship a secret for a few episodes and then there's a grand reveal!

Sorry for such a long post, but I'm super hyped! What are your predictions for the 2nd season?

Really? or is just you hoping? XD
Haha, I feel you, I prefer to binge as well. I managed to wait till the end of first season to start it, but I don't think I'll manage to wait as long with 2nd season (already looking for good VPN cause Netfix in my country doesn't put out episodes as they air, they share the whole season after it completely airs...)

Yeah, I remember that too, I think it was the director who said that they want to do a multiple season drama, with even 3 seasons. But I don't think that it was mentioned ever since - not sure if the station/Netflix don't want to do more, is it the director or maybe the actors. Or maybe they are waiting for the reception of season two (I hope that's the case, I would be thrilled for S3).

does anyone know whether the story will be a year after the last ep (after songhwa back from sokcho) or right…
I don't think that such information has been released yet, but in the trailer there were shots of Song Hwa in her room in the main hospital, so I personally believe that there will be a time skip. What's more, doctor Ahn is not in the main cast anymore, suggesting that he might have finished his residency and maybe left the main hospital after it (cause Song Hwa told him that it wouldn't be good to change hospitals before his exams). Just my opinion though, and I think there will be some flashbacks along the way. I would really like to watch begginings of Winter Garden relationship, I hope we won't be left with nothing...

it's expected as there are romance and long distance relationship tags.
Well, the long distance relationship may relate to Ik Soon and Jun Wan, so I wouldn't look at that. But yeah, I agree that it's most likely to happen.

It honestly makes me sick to see that nothing can remain private in celebrities lifes. I know they are public figures, they can't meet up in public not to be photographed by a paparazzi, but they can't even exchange messages that will remain private?
I feel this situation is so wrong on so many levels. Of course, acting cold to somebody is bad. Manipulation is bad. Unprofessionalism in work is bad. But can we say that we never did such things? We just have the comfort on not having the public attention on us, and such issues just stay in the past, not brought up ever again. Let's not judge people over a one-time situation, and let them grow, LIKE WE ALL DO.
I don't even know how we can judge this situation. Maybe I would feel different if this was brought up by any of the sides of conflict, but it wasn't, it was Dispatch, and probably JH's agency. This is just sick. I feel so sorry for all involved in this.

Now I can start a proper re-watch of season 1! I'm so happy to know when they're coming back, even though it's a bit later than we expected, I literally shed a tear when I heard the news and watched the announcement video. Missed them so much.

I came across an article which says "Recently, a Korean newspaper site confirmed that the second season of the TV blockbuster Hospital Playlist has officially set a broadcast date in the first week of June." (Google Translation). I don't know how believable it is, and I didn't see info on their source. Other than that I didn't find any other info online.

I'm actually getting a bit mad that we're not getting any credible info, only speculation. They could at least tell us which part of the year this is going to be released. And to people who throw around dates in the comments - please provide source, don't spread confusion. Thanks!

Title Life Spoiler

(Very slight spoiler for plots in first episodes of Dr Romantic; It's Okay That's Love and Life ahead)

I also wanted to mention that the fact that Jin Woo's seeing his "healthy brother" in his mind, while he's a doctor, didn't sit quite well with me. I'm not an expert in mental illnesses, but shouldn't he be treated for that, and be taking medication? I get that he was seeing a psychiatrist when he was younger, but in the present it wasn't mentioned? I mean, like I said, I have no real experience with such situations, but in other dramas, like Dr Romantic or It's Okay That's Love, such plots were handled way more seriously. (If anyone is more experienced in the field and could teach me about it if I'm wrong, I'd be really glad!

Title Life
It was... Fine I guess? There were things I enjoyed and things that were really meh. I liked how there's no truly good or bad character, everybody has flaws. But on the other hand, I somehow didn't really like the ML (Jin Woo), and mr Goo's storyline was way more interesting for me. There were a lot of moments when I felt that the show dragged way too much. I also felt like the ending could have been better too, more decisive and less draggy... I know that a lot of people watch it after Stranger, but I think it's better not to watch those two one after another - in my opinion it just shows that Stranger is way better. Maybe it's just that I fancy more dynamic shows, if it's not a slice of life genre.

Pushing all of that aside, mrs Kang is one of the best characters I ever had the pleasure to watch! She really put some life to this show.

I didn't think I'd miss this show so much! Honestly, I got so attached to the characters. Would love to see one more season.

But what about dropping drama you DO enjoy? Am I the only one? When I do enjoy a drama, sometimes I drop for various…
I had something similar when I watched US tv shows with multiple seasons - even if I really enjoyed season 1, I never got to watching the next season, too much time passed and I wasn't interested anymore

I have no problem dropping dramas if I see that it will be really cliche or the male lead is really toxic - two of the things I hate the most. I actually don't really mind spoilers.

I have more of a problem with boring dramas - like when I'm halfway through the drama, and I realize that I don't enjoy it at all, and it's pretty much a waste of time. I could skip scenes, but I don't really like that. On the other hand, I was seriously bored in the 2-3 eps of Prison Playbook, and then it became one of my faves, so I guess you never know XD but situations like this are like 1 in 10, and I can't force myself to watch so much mediocre dramas. I can force through 4-5 eps, but that's my maximum.

I'm not really one who likes rewatching (recently tried CLOY and dropped it halfway through, even though I seriously loved it the first time), it's just pretty boring for me. But with this one, I picked it up for the second time recently and immediately got so hooked again! It's one of the best dramas ever for me, even though the characters are really annoying at times, that's just the way life works - you have sides of people you love, and others that you hate. Recommend it to everyone!

I'm seriously craving more Hospital Playlist! I really hope there won't be a time skip, cause I want to see every little bit of Winter Garden couple dating and being awkward with each other lol (though there probably will be a 1 year time skip, so that Song Hwa comes back to the hospital).

Yes exactly my point. Between Bong Hwan and king there wasn't love. But something else. Which can't be explained…
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I can understand your point of view, even if I don't share it 100% haha. But I understand it a little more after your explanation and it makes a little more sense to me. I guess in the end it's just a shame that the writers didn't clear up any misunderstandings we might have earlier on... Especially when they were handling serious subjects, such as having a baby, it should have been handled with a lot of care. It's great that a lot of people enjoy the ending, but for me, my heart still aches a bit as my expectations haven't been met...

Review Mr. Queen
It's an interesting theory and one I've heard before. We actually had people suspecting SY was BH's past incarnation…
Haha, I am on the same train of trying to cope with the ending for the past week. I like your theory a lot, I just wish that, at the very least, after going back to present, BH realised that he remembers all of memories from his past reincarnation, and can live happily, preferrably even meeting reincarnated CJ (doesn't matter for me, if he is reincarneted as a man or woman).

But on the other hand, in this situation they could have left BH in Queen's body, and after living a long life, transferring to his male, present-day body. Because it doesn't make a difference if it's BH or SY in the body, if they are the same soul. If they were the same soul, there wouldn't be any reason not to do that...

So, just like it was said before by @Anjelle, the writers should be specific about such a major part of the narrative... I guess I will forever be little torn with this show, just because the way I perceived it while watching turned out to be so vastly different from the way that it was ended and the way we 'should have' perceived it. I read theories while trying to cope, such as yours, which is a pretty good one and I can get around with, but my heart will forever ache a bit, thinking of lost chances with this show.

I agree with you on the subject of CJ - to be fair, I was a bit uncomfortable with the way he treated HJ. The audience kinda overlooked it (I'm guilty of that too), because she did bad things as well, but CJ suddenly fell out of love with her and didn't admit it for a long time. He just forgot about her existence, even though she was pretty much left alone in the palace. I'm so glad that she got a good ending (though she kinda didn't, if we take into consideration that her position in society was pretty much screwed as King's ex-concubine).

I get where you're coming from with thinking of BH as 'stealing' SY body, however I was kinda okay with that. I personally believed throughout the whole series, that she was truly dead after falling in the lake, and I think BH believed that too... It also wasn't his choice to stay in that body, so it's kinda redeeming for him, at least in my eyes. But if we look at it from the perspective of last episode, knowing that SY was somewhere in there, hidden, it does leave a bad taste in my mouth.

That's why I wish that it was specified clearly: either SY is dead and BH is the only soul in her body (even better if he was SY-reincarnated), or that SY is alive, and BH wants to go back to his body, and leaving out those kissing scenes (not even mentioning the baby...). I had a lot of fun watching the show, and I was forgiving of the problematic aspects, but looking back I am more and more confused, because I interpreted the show in drastically different way, comparing to the writers.

I agree with this review so much. bonghwan loved cheoljeong, has memories of that, of sleeping with him, having…
I agree so much. Like, even if when they were kissing, BH was in the back, and SY is in charge, how can anybody be not affected by that? There is no way for friendship between CJ and BH in those circumstances, it would be such a messed up situation. Not even pointing out the fact that so much episodes were about BH's wondering if he's in love with CJ or not, and then missing him so much when he thought that CJ was dead. If it was SY in charge, what would be the point of these episodes, if she loved CJ all along?

I'm sorry, but they had sex and kissed, multiple times, and they had a kid together. For like 4 episodes BH was questionning himself, whether he enjoyed it or not, and both the series and the spinoff lead to believe that he did. How can you say that's just friendship? Even if he was in the back and SY was in charge, that's still a bit too messed up for friendship. I just don't know why people can't accept that it was really romantic love. It was never anything else.
