Writer squeezed all the cliches of a modern contemporary drama in just last 8 eps

Halfway in, I had really high expectations for this drama. I was elated when IQIYI release the episodes 1 week earlier
But it would have been better had I just watched till episode16. Really Episode 17 onward everything went downwards

The first half were just so smooth, beautiful, from the plot to the acting everything was perfect. It actually set the bar of expectations too high for me. Compared to it the second half- mainly episode 17 onward, I was really disappointed. the characters were there just to cater to the plot The plot was haphazard, incomplete, mismanaged, to say the least. The writer kept on bringing new plot lines which did make sense. Ending was too rushed while a lot of characters were not given a chance to explain themselves. Honestly if these plots were given more screen time, maybe the writer would have been able to execute them better and explore them deeply. But bringing all these plots together in the time frame of 8 episodes, just created a huge mess where nothing was clear and I was just left thinking 'what about that thing/person?' For example take the story of Xiao Wei (not gonna elaborate, otherwise it might be a spoiler) she was just all of a sudden dropped after episode 17 and a new kid appeared out of nowhere and even he was not able to finish his own story line.

The acting by Wan Peng was as expected amazing. She along with the newbie supports kept the drama going. Li Jia Hao and Yu Kun Niu, did not expect it out of them, but they were quite good and well suited to their characters. Evan Lin, honestly I don't know why but his acting has just left me feeling unsettled, incomplete. It felt like most of the time his expression, his tone, just did not match the scene

Music and bgm were honestly cute and kept in pace with drama. 'Meeting You' sung by the two main leads was such feel good song. Gave the feeling of being in a fluffy, light hearted love, strolling in a beautiful weather. Other osts were also quite good

Beautiful, gripping, dark

Perfect plot. Everything is so interwoven, interconnected. Right from the first scene in ep1 to the end of ep16, everything falls so perfectly in place
Each character had so much depth, they were so much more than what was shown initially. In the beginning you just get to know the surface of these characters. Mei bao, Mo li, Da Sen,Ye Mei li, Xiao Ling, even Yang Rui Sen's boyfriend( he was such a supportive and encouraging partner to her when she needed him) all perfectly written characters. No one was their as dummy to just cater to a scene. Every character had his own foundation, his own development,
This drama talks about family, what it is, it doesn't have to be defined by the boundaries of blood ties, It talks about mental issues and how it difficult it is to break out of the fences one makes after a trauma to protect themselves. It talks about righteousness- what defines it, is it our set of morals or the law that defines it. How everyone struggles with their own flaws, their own burdens and how everyone has a skeleton in their closet.

And in the end, amazing ost- You and I by Aila Gato and Philip Halloun, definitely fits into the setting of this drama
Would definitely recommend it

This is a drama for those who came here for lighthearted entertainment.
After a long time I have watched a drama that did not leave me exasperated either at the plot or acting. The drama runs quite smoothly. The lines and acting between Cher and Gun runs quite effortlessly and I love seeing the chemistry between these two. Both the actors have pulled off their roles as the mouthy, talkative but thoughtful Cher, and the serious, sensitive Gun, quite convincingly. Plot itself runs smoothly, no cringe scenes, no cringe acting, any misunderstandings do not last long, and the relationship works on mutual trust, communication and respect. Altogether a light hearted entertaining romance.

This is my first time I've watched a 52 episode kdrama and let me tell you do not let this discourage you. I started watching this after watching Lee Yoori in Lie after Lie.
Lee Yoori is absolutely amazing!! She owned the character Byun Hyeyeong. She was confident about herself and would not let anyone put her down. She was crazy and she owned it! She was the protective and responsible oldest sister to her siblings as well as a daughter to her parents. She was a pillar for her family. Someone her family can come to, to solve their problems I absolutely loved how she was crazily protective of her family. Like no one could mess with the Byun family with her there.
Miyeong was the cute, shy, sensitive sister, the perfect balance the family needed.
Rayeong was my favorite character. She was the loud, spoiled youngest child. I liked how she always played detective in her sibling's personal lives. Her romantic life with Cheolsu was the cutest. Each episode her scenes were the ones I was looking forward to the most.
Junyeong was the oldest brother, not very smart but was the kind, understanding brother his sisters needed
They were loud, they would fight, but they were absolutely loyal and loved each other despite everything, and would bear any storm together. That's what the Byun family was.

Acting and chemistry off the charts

Started watching this drama because of the plot but stayed because of the acting. The writers really did such a half hearted job at writing the script or maybe the drama did not enough budget, this show could have done much better. The chemistry between Din and Ken is so good you can feel their longing, their sadness, The actors themselves are so good and as someone mentioned I'm so happy they chose actors that looked their age in the drama. Boom, he has got such soulful eyes, you can see every emotion he is feeling. Haii, again an amazing actor. You can see in his mannerism how he has changed and aged over in the span of two years. Would watch the show again just for these two
