I don't even know

When this drama was first announced I was ecstatic! I waited soooo long for it to come out and when it finally did I was moved to tears by the first two episodes. I honestly thought this show was going to become one of my favorites but that unfortunately didn't happen. I watched the show every week and I was sad when I realised my enthusiasm was slowly decreasing. I love tragic fantasy dramas and I was hoping this drama would be fresh and show us something new, like Goblin did in 2016. However, the way the story was deal with wasted all its potential. This could have been an epic show! The cast was amazing, the chemistry was the best I've seen from both leads, the plot was intriguing and the characters were captivating. It's just that the way the writers decided to go with this show felt wrong, as if everything they had build up started crumbling down and ended up being just another fantasy drama. To be completely honest, I wouldn't mind a sad ending or a happy ending, as long as the development until then had been worth it and made sense. I liked the ending but the way the story got there was just... so flat? As a viewer, I feel like I was cheated out of something. I guess I can't understand why the writers didn't make a better use of the universe they created and focused on strengthening it instead of just repeating the same patterns and dialogues throughout the show. For example, Doom was an immortal! He had been living for thousands of years (I guess??)! Yet we get 0 backstory, no past experiences from him or acquired knowledge apart from his hatred for humanity. Also, I liked the second leads but I felt like their story fit a completely different show, even if they were directly connected to the female lead. Why couldn't the writers write their story in a way that complemented the main one???
I don't know how to review this show because my emotions are just all over the place. I would recommend others to watch it because it is a good quality show at the end of the day but don't go into it thinking it's going to change your life or that it brings something new to the table. The wasted potential of this show feels bitter if you go into it with extremely high expectations haha!
