I have to say, I am lowkey disappointed. I expected a bit more, and I don't quite understand why I kept skipping scenes. It was not bad, there were brilliant moments and the plot was intriguing and well written and executed. I started to find Yoo Ryung annoying and I don't know when that started. In the beginning I liked her a lot, she was cool and brave, hot tempered but sensitive. But half way through I kept skipping scenes of her crying and thinking about her sister. Maybe I just wasn't into that whole sister bond thing, I didn't felt it enough. But the reunion was indeed cute and satisfying.
The highlight of this whole show was indeed Ko Ji Seok. What a sweetheart, an amazing character and Kim Sun Ho captured him perfectly. He was literally the sweetest, and most precious boy ever. GO KIM SUN HO!
Even though many people hate on Mi Ran, I could weirdly understand her, she was frustrated and I was moved by the conversation between her and and her mom. She was an ass sometimes, but I still couldn't hate her.
But oh boy! The plot was so good! It kept changing and made the viewer wonder about the murder and victims. I liked the fact that they made the Subway ghost someone who had a "reason" to kill and not just someone with a mental illness. The role of his mother was way bigger than expected and it was heart wrenching. It was a wonderful way of unraveling the story even though I have to say towards the end there were a few minor holes.
Also, normally with crime-dramas I always wish for less romance, but this time it was the other way around. I wished for more sweet moments between the leads.
Anyway, I can say that it was not my cup of tea but I can understand why people like this.

A perfect fun and suspenseful watch

Last year I saw this coming out, and I thought to myself, "Ah, another action Netflix kdrama..." and never gave it a chance. Until recently I thought it was some mediocre action drama that I would not enjoy, like most action kdramas. Then I saw a review that was so enthusiastic about The Uncanny Counter, that I decided to give it a go on a random evening.
Oh boy, was that person right! This show was such a refreshing breath of air finally, a good action kdrama that I managed to finish. One that I LOVED. Honestly, might be the first one as well.

I don't even know where to start. There are many kdramas about Grim Reapers and the evil spirits etc. but The Uncanny Counter successfully fused the supernatural, with comedy, family-drama, action and politics. While watching I was sometimes worried about how the writers were going to continue with the story, because there were so many different starting points, from the evil spirits to the mayor and politics and all the personal problems of So Mun and the other Counters. But man, they told the story with such mastery, it was smooth af.
I liked that everything was kind of connected, but wasn't necessarily intertwined. Honestly, we had everything: comedy, a lot of heartful and sad moments, hype moments and moments of frustration. Even though towards the end it kind of dragged (really just a tiny bit, maybe I'm just sensitive) they always threw in something new. Like holy freak Son Ho Jun appeared I was so happy like AHH (they could've just not decided to kill him though like...). Sometimes I was really frustrated because nothing seemed to work out and maybe there were some parts where I was like "okay, but they could've done that...", but honestly it's completely forgivable.

Cho Byeong Kyu? Eh, hello? Why didn't I notice earlier that his acting is... amazing? Maybe because he always played smaller roles, but damn, he delivered. He did a wonderful job, especially bc this is his first main MAIN role. All the other Counters were so perfectly casted, the chemistry was perfect and their relationship adorable. Please, give me the second season already.
Shoutout to all the antagonists. The actors and actresses were INSANE (sometimes those scenes scared the heck out of me, like it's disgusting, bc in my head it was a comedic show...), especially Lee Hong Nae, he creeped the heck out of me, but in those more humane moments I could still feel his sadness and fear (even though I couldn't empathize ofc the story didn't allow me to, but his delivery was really good). He definitely stole the show.

I would rewatch this without a second thought. Yeah, it was that good. One thing I liked (and this might just be a very personal thing) is that we could feel with the characters, but it wasn't extremely relatable so that I'd bawl my eyes out. It was enough to make me teary eyed, but the things that happened were enough distanced (idk how to say it...) so that I wouldn't invest too much of my emotions into the characters and their sadness. In other words, it's a really good watch, where you could just stop and go about your daily life, without feeling like something is different... It's good entertainment, but nothing life-changing. And sometimes (or very often) this is just something that we need :)

The mastery of unfolding.

Contrary to what I have expected The King has definitely highly exceed my expectations and even above that, it is definitely one of the best dramas in 2020, even in the last few years. Wonderfully written, brilliantly produced and masterfully executed.

Let's start with the story and plot. Complex, intriguing and most importantly engaging. I don't think I have watched a drama (for a while at least) that urges me to think about the plot in deeper ways, questioning every single scene and input. And actually thinking while watching. I wasn't just brain-pausing. I worked, but it was so enjoyable and I didn't want it to stop. This drama has received some critique, I haven't seen a lot, but most of them were about how they did not understand the plot. I disagree completely, it's not that I am smarter, I was just very attentive and invested. I do have to add that the first 4 episodes were rocky for me, but the moment Lee Gon brought Tae Eul to the Kindom of Corea the hype hit the rooftop and I was starting to get very interested. And up until then everything just got better. What shook me the most about this whole creation, is the UNFOLDING of the story. Not revealing much, but just enough for the viewer to understand, IF they watched carefully. The world building was done so damn well, like it is not an easy task to build a world as complex as this. And double that cause there are technically two worlds. Praise the director and writer. I appreciate the happy and lighthearted ending, this drama has been heavy from the first episode on and it feels very reasonable to end it like this. Also why did I knew that they'd add the old hands, it's beautiful but heartbreaking. A part of me definitely wished them to stay in either of their worlds and marry and have kids or whatever, but I guess they can't because of their counterparts. What I wanted to add as well, is the fact that these people did not just sell the plot. They sold the emotions of the characters that were in this world. It was the emotions and ambitions that carried the show. Things didn't just happen, they happened with an action and there was a reaction. And I could see that every single character was so emotionally scarred and involved in the happenings.

The production is insane. The money that went into this... I couldn't even imagine. The cinematography wasn't just gorgeous, but also purposeful. They didn't just decided to choose that angle, that cut and that grading. They choose while thinking about the narrative and feelings they wanted to portray. And you can see that, which I appreciate so much. The music. I mean I don't quite like the songs tbh. Not gonna lie, they don't stand out much, but DAMN those BGMs (I mean the instrumentals, the orchestration). Especially "If you..." or "My love and..." that melody will forever be stuck in my head. It will remind me of the feels of every time they played this. Every time Gon and Tae Eul had a heartbreak to endure, an obstacle to fight. It represents the drama in every way. Beautiful, glorious, majestic, endearing, heartbreaking, bittersweet and hopeful. I am a bit obsessed you see... you hear! In conclusion this BGM is superior and a masterpiece. It fits so perfectly and underlines the emotions of the scenes, I dare to sa enhances them, I couldn't ask for more.

Last but not least the characters. What I just realised in the last episode, was the fact that there are no kdrama tropes in this. If I would illustrate a kdrama it would be some kind of shape, any shape depending on the drama, but most of the time there is this deformed saggy part. That annoying character who just doesn't make any sense and in the end they try to justify this character with some whack redemption arc; that annoying car crash; that annoying memory loss; that annoying misunderstanding (triggers me every time); and so many more I can't even think of them. What I mean is, that saggy part is undeniably a part of the whole thing, but not pleasant and just unnecessary. But The King doesn't seem to have that. Everything is finely tuned and written for the whole story, everything fits without being awkward and that includes the characters and their actions. I can't despise them for any personal reasons, because... they didn't annoy me. They made sense and just acted on their beliefs, which always seemed legit. Praise the writer. I loved: Lee Gons intelligence and kindness, but strictness; Jeong Tae Euls bravery, trust and quick-witnesses; Jo Yeongs loyalty and friendship (and everything else about him, especially that hair, and those clothes); Jo Eun Seops jokes, childlikeness and love for his family and siblings; Koo Seo Ryungs ambition, strong headedness in a mainly male dominated industry; Kang Shin Jaes good heartedness, his silent love for Tae Eul and his sacrifices.
It was indeed very nice to see them again, with a different destiny, living their lives as they should have. Luna as Seo Ryungs police sister and again as Shin Jaes junior. Lee Gon in the marine, Shin Jae still living on the edge of between a cop and a gangster. And Jo Yeong with siblings (I lost my heart when he passed out, it looked like dying i was dying ok).
I gotta say with all honesty. I am not a fan of Lee Minho, never have been, I just think he is incredibly overrated for what he serves, and his visuals are definitely not my style. But damn, I never said that he can't act, but he SERVED as Lee Gon. Especially his emotional scenes were excellent. I can't imagine anyone else than him as Lee Gon. Well done!!
Kim Go Eun, as always. Amazing on screen. She just acts and acts and it's just perfect. Her crying and clinging on to Lee Gon, her fighting scenes, I mean she's just brilliant. (Btw her hug scenes with Lee Gon were the best I've ever scene, I could feel that damned pain and love) I am rooting for you! Waiting for the next drama hihi.
Well, here comes my bitch, or more like I am a bitch for him. Woo Do Hwan. Might just be the main reason I pushed through the first 4 episodes. I probably would have watched this because of Kim Go Eun anyways, but the moment I saw him in the trailers I just couldn't wait. And oh, my boy did not disappoint. He literally stole the limelight, I am sorry to everyone else, but he shined, both as Jo Yeong and Eun Seop. This role was just perfect for him! He deserves more recognition for his amazing acting. Damn, the way he sobbed as Eun Sup when he and Yeong said goodbye to each other (gosh I was sobbing too), and that passing out scene in 1994, that TEAR synced perfectly with the camera movement and the music. Satisfaction level reached. His voice also, AH. Plus, that face. I have fallen under his spell long before, but I am even deeper after this drama. I am so glad he got the chance to do this role, it's just perfect.
The cast has made this story to what it is today.

The King: The Eternal Monarch is a show to watch with attention, and only then will you be able to comprehend the magic and brilliance the production team has created. A wonderful and adventurous story, with a heart wrenching love story, strong and loyal friendships. The story of waiting, trusting and finally accepting your own fate and quote: "decide to be happy with our fate". It tells its story excellently and I don't want to change anything about it.

PS.: Y'all act like the ads are the majority of the whole drama, also they aren't always in your face. And don't act like there aren't any in other "amazing" dramas. And also, I really don't understand how people have so much to criticise I just don't see it.

PPS.: After a few months I still think this drama is better than people make it sound like, but I do agree that it had more potential and could've been done better, but if they lived up to taht potential it would've been l e g e n d a r y.

Perfect Youth/Family Kdrama with lots of story to tell

Not only have I binge-watched all 16 episodes in two days, but I also cried my eyes and laughed my heart out. Though it is true, that this drama does contain some minor plotholes and a few questions at the end, I think its strength definitely lies in its heart and story it's trying to tell. Honestly, I think that for a "heartful" and "youthful" drama it did an excellent job at finishing it up and there were way more connections than I expected. It's the kind of drama you want to experience once again right after you finish. It tells a story about family, friends, life's hardships, and most importantly in my opinion: Gratitude.

I loved seeing Eun Gyeol and Lee Chan chemistry, especially how Eun Gyeol kind of took on the "father"-role when he traveled back to 1995. Not only that, but the whole friendship with Ma Joo and the other band members was really heartwarming (especially after we come back to 2023 and they were still friends omg).
Some might say they had problems with the pacing, but I actually enjoyed how some things unfolded in the latter half (for example Cheon Ah's plot with her family). I was worried about the story, because at some point it seemed very messy, because no matter what nothing seemed to be working out, but somehow it did and it was satisfying enough for me at least.
Honestly, even though Lee Chan lost his hearing in the end, the story ended a lot more positively than I thought it would. The fact that Eun Gyeol's whole childhood and family situation changed, I wasn't expecting that kind of ending. But I appreciate it a lot, that they ended the story on such a bright note (even though I wished it ended with his family and friends and not with a kiss with Eun Yu).
So, about her! I wasn't really expecting another time traveler, that was cool imo (I haven't watched many time travel dramas, and those that I watched never included more than one time traveler). I kind of wished they had found out about each other a bit earlier though, and was I the only one that thought, that their romantic chemistry dropped a lot after they found out? Like, the chemistry was great before, but it just suddenly stagnated and they seemed more like friends after they found out (which was weird, but I thought they'd be happy, since it meant they'd be together in 2023 as well).

Other than that, I loved Cheon Ah and Lee Chan's love story (too freaking cute) and Lee Chan's grandmother! They also did a great job of highlighting the disabled part of the story and raising awareness.

All in all, I loved it so much! It made me reminisce about the youth that I never had (I feel like in asian schools it's totally different). It was cute, heartwarming, sad and fulfilling! A perfect youth kdrama that I'd recommend to everyone! I swear, you won't regret it!

I have to say, even though I expected a bit more it was still an interesting ride. I don't think I have ever seen a kdrama, where the both leads (1st and 2nd) were the opposite gender but were not in a romantic relationship (except for Chief Kim, but the female lead wasn't really the second lead but more like the third lead, so basically the leads were both make in that one). I started this thinking we'd see Rain and Oh Yeon Seo in a romantic relationship but I am quite satisfied with their bromance (?). To be honest, sometimes the plot wasn't that planned or written out well, it felt messy at times and I skipped a lot, but I was still curious of what would happen, so that's a positive thing.
The actors did a great job though. I am honestly surprised at Rain's actin skills, he should definitely do more romcoms, it suits him incredibly well!
The ending scene was such an unexpected but cute scene that made my heart wrench a bit. I really ship Young Soo and Da Hye. And btw tht y'all notice that Seung Jae's wallpaper on his phone showed him and his mom and his mom was Maya! (but then i'd be weird if she fangirled about him, except she forgot who she was in her past life/she pretended)
All in all, in my opinion this show is very unique in it's character constellation and especially the chemistry between them.

Easily one of my favourite dramas ever. Skyrocketed up my list so fast I was taken aback. It lived up to it's recommendations and even exceeded my expectations to be honest.
It is seriously refreshing to watch a drama without dragging, without a stupid love-line, and unnecessary drama. It was hilarious, well written, beautifully detailed. It's twist and turns made sense and satisfied the viewer. Perfect OST, outstanding actors and actresses (they couldn't have been better).
Fell in love with Nam Goong Min seriously this time! I started his new drama Hot Stove League and couldn't wait for more so checked this one out and omg. I didn't like him in Beautiful Goong Shim (or didn not like the drama) and am so happy to have found him here. Amazing artist.
Junho, once again, my crush is still well alive for him. Damn, I didn't think he would pull off a badguy this well, acting on point bro.
One of the best things is definitely their bromance, I laughed so much every time Chief Kim sent Seo Yul kisses or winks. I really appreciate the fact that you could tell from the beginning that Seo Yul didn't despise Chief Kim as much as he seemed to, the bromance started way before Seo Yul became "good".
Honestly even the side characters! They were all so amazing! Shout out to Ga Eun (she bae), Ha Kyung (lovely UNPROBLEMATIC female lead), Mr. Choo (loved the bromance between him and Chief Kim so much as well, his emotional scenes were beautiful), Myun-Suk (gosh he was terrible in the beginning, but just LOVED what they did with his character, instead of making him evil like his father, they made him vulnerable and humane; highlight was his Tanzarian).
The writers and directors did an amazing job at wrapping this up so nicely. The ending was not rushed or dragged out, it ended the best way it could have, giving us a slight taste of what their future plans are. I will miss this so much.
And lastly, I love that they showed us humans with flaws and mistakes, I loved that they showed us HUMANS and not just figures. Chief Kim and Seo Yul were both "bad" people they hurt others for their own good, but they learned, got hurt, cried (Chief Kims crying scene with Mr. Choo was one of its kind!) and changed. They accept their mistakes and their past, but still look forward without giving up.

Good but nothing outstanding

This drama was better than expected, I did not want to watch it because I didn't hear much good things about it when it came out. But I have to say it delivered more than it expected. Most of the good moments came from the comedy though. Jeon Ji Hyeon did a great job, I just adore the way she acts out her quirky, really really WEIRD characters. And also, props to Lee Min Ho, I honestly don't like him very much, cause I don't really understand the hype about him and I still don't. But The Heirs probably ruined him for me, but wow he was a good fit for Joon Jae. Omg, I already miss those three scamming people. Thinking back it feels like it was ages ago since the beginning of the show. I mean I finished it, even with a lot of skipping, I finished it. Which is pretty rare for me.
I want to mention the stepbrother of Joon Jae though. I feel like he doesn't get enough love or empathy cause he is literally the biggest victim out of all. He is the child of two psychos and he didn't even know, the psycho part of him was probably inherited as well. I wish the writers or the director would have developed more on his struggle between justice and his mother. He is a very complex character that had the potential to add even more spice. Anyway the stepmother was a complete maniac some goes to Ma Dae Young, but he was at least less hateable (maybe because of the actor, i just can't get his other roles out of my head, though the actor did a great job of course). Ah, and MAN was I relieved when Jo Nam Doo turned out to be a double agent. Though, I didn't like it very much. But he had good comedic moments sooooooo.
Honestly, not much to say. I don't think this is a must watch, though it's not complete trash, there were some amazing moments.

Sisterhood Hype and I'm loving it

All I can say is: I loved this so much and I would even say that this is one of the best dramas I've ever seen, or one I enjoyed the most. I loved seeing women getting competitive but still respecting each other you know? This kind of competition is what we need! They cherish each other, they have history, but there is no hatred. They respect their opinions and act upon their own. Honestly, I was not very convinced in the beginning, I knew it's gonna be good, just looking at the summary and the overall vibe had me going: wow this show is def high quality. But I was never sure if it was my cup of tea. But hell yes it is!! It got so much better, the chemistry between the three girls was so good and addictive, I honestly want more. And the ending scene was so freaking satisfying!
I also really appreciated the topics they touched on. All this is so important and relevant in real life, even if it's just fiction. But boys I tell y'all corruption is everywhere.
The only thing that I didn't enjoy that much was the romance between Bae Ta Min and Morgan. I mean, I get it. I get the conflict and everything, but even when they first met, I wasn't digging their story. Their chemistry was great and there were cute and heartbreaking moments, but in my opinion they could've cut their part a little bit.
But boy! Cha Hyeons and Seol Ji swan (the actors) romance story was so cute and I still want more! Oh and shout out to the story between Song Ga Gyeong and her ex-husband. I really really really loved that the writers decided to give them a non-toxic relationship. Even if it was a purpose-marriage and they never really fell in love with each other, they were so respectful to each other. I wasn't sure about her husband in the beginning, he was kind of shady, but after a while you could see and literally feel his affection and care towards Ga Gyeong. In the end you could really tell that they did grow to love each other and omg when she cried the moment she signed her divorce papers. my hearT.
I just loved everything and every character I can't even. and Brian! who doesn't love him!
OHHH and shout out to the directing and the cinematography because: did you see those shots! Appreciate that they chose unconventional camera positions so that we viewers dint get bored and feel the tension they want to convey! this is art i tell y'all. god i just loved it.
Also! the actors were all really really good. I nothing felt awkward to out of place it was just perfect. and damn we get to see older women act yesSs!!! you can really tell that they are pros.
honestly. i can't praise this enough. even though it was kind of hyped, I still think its underrated. anyway, thanks to everyone who participated in this drama!!!

It's an absolute wonderful drama!
I must honestly say that I wasn't very invested during the first few eps (maybe due to personal circumstances as well), but this one is a watch, that gets better with every episode. This series starts out not that serious. It seems like a casual watch, without any substance to it, but as you continue they'll drop little life lessons and emotional moments here and there. Even though it seems a bit hard to apply these things to your actual life, I think their principles and attitude are very inspiring.
Even though I originally started this show, because of Sakaguchi Kentaro (love), I must say in the end I fell in love with the character Kurosawa Kokoro. I LOVE her to bits. She is your typical bubbly girl with a bright attitude, which makes the room a bit awkward because she is just THAT bright... bear cub describes her so well. But even though it sounds annoying in theory, I totally loved it! Like I wish, I could be like that irl (though it's a bit hard I admit). She's cute, relatable, intelligent and so kind. Her spirit makes everyone adore her, you cannot not like Kurosawa.
Every side character was so lovable and interesting in their own way and their chemistry was so great. Especially towards the end, where you get the gags and know each of them better (sorry but Wada was so funny). I will definitely miss everyone, all editors, even the sales team (obviously Koizumi), and of course all manga artists!
Probably the most interesting thing about this drama is the process of creating a manga (I don't know how realistic it actually is tho). It was lovely to see that even though they were all different, they had one thing in common: their love for manga and their passion to make a piece of art.
I also very much enjoyed the way they structured the series. It's kind of episodic, but not all storylines end with the episode, they continue and pick up some later, it makes the whole watching progress interesting. It's amazing how characters don't just disappear after their story "has been told" (which happens very very often), but they continue to live on in the story, just like in real life! Because of that the whole show felt very coherent and the ending was sooo satisfying!
I wish there would be more!! I'll come back someday.

To be quite honest, I don't know why I even started watching this. My love for Jung Hae In? Not quite enough. I guess I just expected good humour in a dark setting, but not too much darkness, because the trailer made it seem like that. I definitely should have taken the "dark" tag more seriously. But once I started I couldn't stop. It's on the shorter side, so there are no fillings, or places for boredom, yet nothing seemed rushed.
The story is awful, dark, graphic, honest and nothing is sugar coated. You'd usually expect an ending on a somewhat hopeful note. There is nothing like that here. The ending was awful. (and I am still pondering about what it meant, when An Jun Ho began running... did he run away too?).
They showed us a system that is prone to harassment, abuse of all sorts and with seemingly no escape at all. There are the victims, that might become the perpetrator, hurt pride on which they act with aggression. It is truly awful.
You can still tell that the creators wanted to get a message across, wishing for a change. At the end it even felt like the characters were talking to the audience directly.
The first few episodes were fun, like really fun, even though the comedy is not in your face, but I had a blast, even with the dark moments, but towards the last two episodes. Like wow. I'll repeat ... it's awful. Also how they sneakily build up on to the last two eps makes my heart ache even more.

they made me want to dream

What a journey. It was amazing. It unexpectedly made me emotional and kind of teary-eyed. You know that feeling when something so amazing happens it feels like you could fly. Just like the name of the team "Dreams" it made me feel that again. Not just that, but the plot, execution, acting, writing, cinematography and OST were so well done. It was just perfect. You might think, "what a baseball drama??" and even without romance (damn there was no needed and I seriously did not wish for one), it was better than most of your "most popular" dramas. Even though this series is quite underrated in the international fanbase, it did quite well in korea, which I am so glad for. It deserves to be recognised. For anyone hesitating: DO NOT!


First off I'd like to say that this is one of the very few (maybe even the only one) dramas that I started watching when it was still ongoing and I finished it. I knew even before I clicked on the first episode that I would love this. But this exceeded my expectations and I couldn't asked for more.
It is not you typical kdrama, you can figure that out from the synopsis anyways, but it was a lot more emotional and idealistic than I'd expected. It was a perfect mix between logical, business-minded plot, but then they serve you a feast of idealistic mindsets and emotional reasoning. Just like how Baek Seung Soo structured his last presentation. It was beautiful. They are not just people that sell, buy and trade players. I don't like serious dramas that much, especially the ones that are some dramatic that I don't know what to feel anymore. But even though this was kind of serious, it had just the right amount of humour and hype without making it loose it's "flare".
Seeing the whole managing team develop from being moody, tired, miserable and hopeless to inspired, motivated and friendly, was so satisfying. The way Baek Seung Soo won every single one of them over slowly but surely. But let's talk about Baek Seung Soo. What a man. Nam Goong Min perfectly portrayed him, or even made him (!). He is a genius of few words, someone who works hard, but never brags or talks about it. Someone who is responsible and knows how to analyse data and work with it. He just knows how people work. But he wasn't perfect, and he changed for the better just like he changed Dreams. The subtle savageness of him, I will never forget. I have to say, I enjoyed Mr. Kwon's character a lot. He showed a lot of character development and the chemistry between him and Baek Seung Soo was so nice. I loved their small quarrels! (It was so cool to see that he and BSS are still "friends" after he resigned). Also, damn was that satisfying seeing him putting his uncle and cousin back to their places.
I don't think they could've chosen a better name for the team "Dreams" it sounds so grand and beautiful. They definitely made me feel that way. They went from being a hopeless team, to be a team of "Dreams". Even the word "Team" and "Dreams" sound similar, but I think I am interpreting too much here.
Even though they left me with a bittersweet feeling, because Baek Seung Soo couldn't stay with them, I am so okay with the fact that his "image" of bringing a team to victory and leaves, stays. Even if this image is sad, I can imagine him conquering another sports team.
Lee Jae Hoon's cameo was such a hype moment and boy it lasted for long! I loved that he played a quite important role and ugh I loved it.
Damn I am left so empty but satisfied, I think I might just rewatch it right now!

This is the proof that a simple, overdone story can still be amazing

Has this drama satisfied all my needs: Yes.
Has this drama over-satisfied my needs: YES.
Has this drama given you diabetes: Yes.
Damn. I loved it way too much! I was not sold at ALL when I first saw this coming out, last year, but damn I was bored as heck and needed a cute unproblematic romcom, in this quarantine situation and YES did it satisfy me! I was seriously taken aback at how much I just liked and loved everything! The main leads! The main leads TOGETHER! And hot damn, their KISSES! Kim Young Kwang as Do Min Ik YESSSS! Jeong Ga Heel is such a cute pie I loved her to bits. I know that this drama is not one of those that go down in history or rise up in ratings, but it is certainly underrated in a sense. I tend to easily get tired of a drama and drop it after a few ep, but I literally binged watched this in two days. Maybe it's because I dig romcoms, but the thing is this drama didn't excel in comedy, the romance was superb between the mains! (so much better than many other hotshot dramas out there upsi) But it was so lighthearted it felt so nice. Maybe I am getting old, but I sick of those overly used melodramas and tragedies. They don't do anything positive for me and my life.
Shoutout to the fact that there was no second lead! And NO LOVE TRIANGLE I MEAN!! One of a handful!
And shoutout to the fact that the main "antiprotagonist" wasn't bad at all. It was justified and very understandable. I am overlooking the "plot holes" since people tend to nickpick a lot and honestly compared to soooo many other popular dramas, these plot holes were minimal. And lastly shoutout to the fact that they made Do Mi Ik keep his illness. One half of me wanted to see a cliché healing wonder, but another half just wanted him to live with it for the rest of his life, which is way more realistic. And yes it happened (even though I don't know if those moments were he suddenly sees faces again for a longer period of time actually works). Imo it makes their relationship a bit more meaningful and those moments too. When he argued about how his illness has positive effects too I was lowkey impressed.


Satisfied the heck out of me. An underrated gem! Not life changing, but lighthearted, superb chemistry, bromance and womance! and damn satisfying, you don't ever want to eat sweets again. The main couple might just kill you with cuteness. Enjoyed every bit!
P.S.: Kim Young Kwang will make you fall in love with him, be prepared. And also Jin Ki Joo, she's so adorable.

Decent cute little watch (if your ignore the last episode)

I absolutely LOVED the first half of the show: the set up, the leads, the build. AND omg the costumes for Yeon Woo - absolutely gorgeous. The story was interesting enough, but I don't think that was the driving point of this drama anyway. I was here for the romance and the cutesy. All in all it was good watch, if you ignore the last episode. A small plot-hole, became a giant one until there was only a question mark left. Honestly, I don't get what even happened there??? (Spoilers: Why did he suddenly die in Joseon, and why couldn't she accept him? Didn't she love her husband in Joseon first? And they are the freaking same person, but then again he in the new age would have been alone. And I seriously thought their goodbye was final, until it suddenly wasn't anymore, I'm just confused) Those things don't make any sense, but I guess I'm going to ignore it, because I love happy endings. Just.... they could've done it better. But I don't care tbh. It wasn't made to become a masterpiece.
What I actually appreciated story-wise, was their kinda sloppy executed feminism-movement in Joseon. It's nice to see a woman stand up for her rights, especially because Yeon Woo was already more outspoken and independent at the very beginning. But maybe not that realistic if you think about it, but still nice if you don't take it too seriously (and you definitely shouldn't take this drama too serious).

This is my first Bae In Hyuk drama and I must say, he is cute and has something very charming about him! I fell and immediately started watching Under the Queen Umbrella (which is on it's own an amazing drama - funny enough him and Yoo Sun Ho are brothers there too ahahah).
Lee Se Young has always been a tricky topic for me. For some reason none of her dramas spoke to me EVER, like I wouldn't always know she came out with a new series, but I never liked her projects or her?? But I loved her in here, and I might give her other works a try now!

That's what you call a typical cliché drama, but made successfully

I was looking for a cliché older kdrama, with predictable nonsense plottwists, but lovable characters and a heartful story. Well, I got what I wanted.
We've got the rich ML, the humble nice and invisible FL, the time-skip (I'm kind of a sucker for time skips), the amnesia part, and the happy ending.

I remember watching the chinese version of this story a few years back and lowkey wishing I started with the korean one. It was a given that the korean one is going to better (I haven't seen the taiwanese one yet, but hopefully will soon). And of course, it is way better. The acting performance wasn't necessarily outstanding, but still really good. Without a doubt Jang Hyuk carried the show like the boss. Even though his hair was hideous the first half of the show (and even worse somewhere towards the middle, thank god they gave him another hairstyle...) he won my heart with the last half of the show... A very fine aged wine indeed. My favourite part about this whole show probably, was Mi Yeong's mom and her relationship with Geon and also her relationship with Mi Yeong. It was absolutely adorable and heartwarming. Jang NaRa got the best moms in her dramas, I swear.
All of the lovey dovey moment were so cute, innocent cliché and too sweet to be true. To be honest, the show got better the farther it went. The last half was such a delight, so satisfying and fun to watch. I mean we got Jang Hyuk in a good hairstyle, we got the "mother-son" moments, a strong-girl comeback, extremely fun and awkward moment, the little bromance between Mr. Tak, Yong and Geon. They even gave the ending a WHOLE ass episode. Didn't feel rushed at all, maybe even a bit too much, but it was nice to see everything wrap up nicely.

All in all, my little pink cliché romance heart is very content and I definitely don't regret watching this show!

Well, I see why this is a classic

This drama is almost 15 years ago, I enjoyed is SO SO MUCH! I only watched the 2018 chinese version of this and I have to say, I can totally understand why many rank this version the first. Even though this is so old, it doesn't actually feel old? Expect for the styling and technology, it doesn't feel out of place like older dramas often do. The leads were amazing, I mean they are way better actors than the chinese ones (I have to add that they were rookies tho).
And I have to say, this story has some pretty questionable storylines, but for some reason if you can overlook that, you can feel that the love between the leads and the friendships feel so sincere and heartwarming. This is definitely a classic. Also I loved that it only has nine episodes.
