Serial dropper here. And I will continue dropping dramas as I please and won't feel any remorse or shame until dramas scriptwriters get their act together (they won't do this for me, I know, haha).
I mean: besides all the elements you've rightly flagged, the main problem for me is the treatment of womankind. Be it Korean, Japanese or Chinese, the vast majority of dramas gives us a pathetic portrait of female personality and temperament.
Either the FL is a batshit hysterical brat or she's a dumbass innocent. Or she's from the worst kind ever created in the world of dramas: the « fake strong FL ». Basically, this one symbolises scriptwriting gaslighting at its finest. In short: the FL is cosmetically shown as being « « as skilled as a man » but is still being rescued by the men. And still : deriving from her acts (which are useless), she has a terrible temperament and IQ.
But I mainly drop dramas because of one of the same reason as WandereR : « After a promising start, the production goes downhill either in terms of the plot direction or quality, or both. Usually, under this category, the pain is real. »
I remember her to be smart and brave lol I watched it in 2017 I think
Maybe it will get better, I'm just on the first episodes... :) I loved Cecilia Liu and her character Tan Yun Xian in The Imperial Doctress : although she was a bit docile and ingenuous, she was also mature, calm and clever. Hope her character on Sound of Desert will get better as the episodes goes on...

(I loved NIF2 but it was frankly a disappointment)
