I'm glad you liked it! The ending was definitely setting things up for a second season, but I don't think that's…
I will check out Edward Gao's other dramas. This kept my interest from start to end.

That ending hurt, though.

Yeah, it's definitely a step up compared to her usual roles. I really enjoyed seeing a more mature side of her…
I've not seen that one yet. Ooh, it stars Zhang Ling He and Ryan Cheng, too. Definitely a must watch!

It's good to hear Esther Yu got to act in a more mature role. I like her, and I think she's capable of far more than playing an overgrown child. I'd love to see her really show her range.

So for what it's worth I agree with a lot of this review but I did find the characters likable and deeply sympathetic.…
Thanks for your input. I reread the synopsis and I see in the comments it concerns dyslexia, so it's back on my list. I'm inevitably drawn to brain issues and challenges.

You gave it a 9, so I'm definitely interested! I actually started it once, but after about half to three-quarters…
It's a darker drama, and I can see where the first episode is a bit off-putting with the modern introduction and then we're thrown into the past without knowing what was happening. It certainly doesn't spoon-feed anyone! Maybe that's what I appreciated. I didn't know what was occurring and who the characters were. There's no big info dump to catch the viewer up. We're given bits and pieces of the story as the FL recalls them. I rarely re-watch a drama, but this is one that I think would reveal more the second time around. And that cast!

Anticipation can often cause a letdown. Going in with no or low expectations often allows for a pleasant surprise. I don't generally watch the latest dramas if there's too much buzz. If everyone thinks it's great, I'm likely to end up wondering why!

I can't get invested in a drama where there aren't plausible reasons for the characters' actions. I want to know their motivations, and I want them to act and react within those parameters.

ACK, I didn't watch it during my Disney intro period, and and your review makes me want to now that my subscription has ended! Isn't that the way of life? I'm sure they'll have another intro offer, and then I'll catch up on the dramas that had new seasons come out right after I dropped Disney.

Unfortunately, I saw it before I started making notes, so I can only go by my rating of 9.5 to know I really appreciated it. One scene that remains memorable for me is Hong Ju standing on her toes to kiss Jae Chan, but they've both foreseen the moment, and he has the ability to change the vision. Poor Hong Ju! Beautifully shot but dreadfully disappointing.

yess, this was good but I also found the ending underwhelming!! the George RR Martin part is sending me tho lmao…
I realize censorship can limit transmigration stories in C-dramas, but I wanted so much more for the ending.

I believe yours is the first review I've read that appreciated the drama. I don't mind slow if there is a point. It's the unnecessary fillers and dragging things out to pad a show that I find vexing. It's on my list!

The best part of that drama was Gongjin. I thought how magical it would be to visit, but, alas, it's fictional (I looked it up after watching!). Parts of the drama were filmed in Pohang, like the fishing port and some beaches. The warm, wonderful cast of flawed but accepted people made Gongjin come alive. I agree that the first half was the best.

I wanted to love HCCC more than I did. The addition of too many melodramatic bits of background and unnecessary cliches toward the end sullied a perfectly fine rom-com.

I love the leads in other productions, but I found this drama amazingly mediocre. My notes tell me that it irritated me! It's not a re-watch for me.

it is garbage
The story, itself, didn't captivate, but the actors entertained me. Sometimes, that's all I need from a drama.

I can't rely on getting a good story every time. Sometimes, I have to settle for appreciating the cinematography or even the OST. I'm appreciative if there is just one thing I can learn, one twist I didn't see beforehand, or one visual different from anything I've experienced before. I'm trying to be more accepting of flaws in dramas. I have a bad habit of tearing things apart and wanting perfection, and life usually doesn't come up to my standards.

Here are some dramas that came close:
My Dearest, https://mydramalist.com/733821-lovers
Alchemy of Souls, https://mydramalist.com/52939-can-this-person-be-translated
Joy of Life, https://mydramalist.com/28674-joy-of-life (only two seasons are out, with a third pending)

It's definitely one of the good ones! My only issue was that my brain kept comparing it to Chinese wuxia dramas…
I was fortunate to have a clean slate. I'd never seen a Chinese wuxia. It was all new and exciting for me.

This was one of my first K-dramas, and I was blown away. Sadly, this was before I made reviews, so I don't remember much, but my 9.5 rating tells me I loved it (and I'm generally a lower rater than most of MDL, and I was really a low rater when I began).

I recall it was a little jarring for me when the actress switched, but I was soon on board again. Beautiful cinematography, meaningful philosophy, and a beautiful OST made this drama nearly a perfect watch. Easily one of my favorite dramas.

GREAT review!
Thank you so much! I loved that the drama introduced me to a part of Korean culture. I wish I'd enjoyed the rest as much.

Is there a subscription fee for Kisskh? Do I have to sign in through another social media? My three-month trial period of Disney+ is almost over, and I'll gladly let it go. I thought it would be sunshine, roses, princesses, and kittens, but it was darkness, violence, serial killers, and evil spirits!
