- In ‘Love and Redemption’, the FL was the God of War + was the strongest character in the whole drama.- In…
FL usually start low and work their way up..either that or they have an identity that automatically raises them up.
Love and Redemption...Xuan Ji started off as the weakest and became the strongest...but personality-wise she did fit the the mold. Si Feng was primed to be the next leader of his sect, in that aspect, he already held the respect over his sect that she didn't have in hers.
I could argue the same for Bai Qian of TMOPB. She was born high-status..but as Su Su, her status was the lowest while Ye Hua held the 2nd highest position in heaven.
Journey of the Flower, Ashes of Love, Destiny of White Snake, Love and Destiny, Immortal Samsara, etc. all fit the mold
I would say dramas like Blue Whisper are more the exception than it is the "norm"
Not all...but they fit the same type. Even if the FL aren't flowers, they start off powerless and at the mercy of others while the ML usually are already in a position of power
She knew her marriage was an alliance though. I feel for her but she was aware the emperor and Consort Yue loved…
That's why Consort Yue is the consort lol
The empress is wonderful and being kind is fine..but people don't respect her. Consort Yue is a good foil to the empress. One is kind, one is fierce. One if forgiving, the other holds grudges. At the end of the day, I'm just grateful they're on the same side.
You see their differences in their sons. The crown prince gets his kindness from her..which isn't a compliment. The crown prince is a push over who values family bonds over personal integrity. He encourages nepotism and refuses to punish officials on the basis that they are family. The 3rd prince is concise and impartial. I don't know where he stands yet, but he's fierce and wasn't afraid to expose his own sister for her corruption.
i feel bad for the Empress, though she has a so-called position (since actually the 2 palaces are equal: consort…
She knew her marriage was an alliance though. I feel for her but she was aware the emperor and Consort Yue loved each other before she came along. I wonder if she's even in love with him or if her love is out of respect for him. Out of all the emperors I've seen in drama land..I do think he's one of the better ones. He treats her equally and with respect despite not being in love with her. Not to mention, Consort Yue also defends her and respects her position as well. While Consort Yue is his lover, the Empress is his partner.
Watching today's episodes actually make me feel pangs of sympathy for the princesses. Not so much that I'd actually like them..they are stupid and vile people.
If they get over all their pettiness...they'd realize they are all the same as CSS. Like her, all they want is to be acknowledged and praised by their parents...and like CSS..they often get reprimanded instead. The difference is that CSS doesn't take it out on Cheng Yang..while the princesses do take it out on CSS. I do still believe that CSS has her FL halo (ie: plot armor) which lets her get away with behaving in a free willy-nilly way. If any other girl in the drama acted more like her..they wouldn't get away with it.
Poor CSS. She held it together so well until LBY came to praise her. My heart broke watching her bawl her eyes out and not telling him the truth because she didn't want to hurt him by letting him know that she's being bullied.
Why were there always someone who set rules for him not to fall in love?????? There was one in immortal world…
Objectively, love is a distraction. People do crazy crap in the name of love...it's just impractical to forbid it since it's not something anyone can control
Sometimes it feels like CSS takes 2 steps forward and 10 backwards.
This scene in Ep 33 where she's discussing her feelings with her girls is exactly the same as when her parents asked her if she truly wanted to end her engagement with LBY. She has this sudden epiphany that he's a really good man and that she likes him...yet makes no effort to consider her actions going forward.
Listening to your husband does not default to obeying him..she literally doesn't listen to him then gets pissed when he yells at her.
Yes...she responds better when people coax her..yet many times she does do things where she should get yelled at. She takes people raising their voice at her as a personal attack when they literally only do it because she refuses to listen and they've run out of patience.
I disagree. If she just said “I’m wrong!” then it’s not character development. It’s called being a doormat.LBY…
Acknowledging when you're wrong is tremendous character growth. It's something rarely seen in both dramas and real life. It takes more courage to admit fault than it does to fight to justify your own actions. The problem with many characters in this drama (including CSS, her mother, and the frustrating nobles/bullies) is that they have too much pride. Even when they know they are wrong, it hurts their pride too much for them to admit fault.
You know what would be funny? If the first time Zi Lin and Tang Zhou met..they ended up fighting and Tang Zhou wound up flipping Zi Lin hahahaha Talk about trauma hahaha
I completely agree with you. I see a lot of posts supporting CSS and her actions in episode 32 but I felt she…
I love her character but sometimes how she's written makes it hard for me to reconcile that this is the same girl. She has such "naïveté" that she runs around the palace her first time visiting, can't even properly bow, stares at the empress in awe and blurts out how beautiful she is, and sneaks in crackers to eat in front of the princesses when the main meal wasn't even served.. Yet....this is the same girl who devised a plan so strategic to prank the other girls and trick them into falling into the pond; leaving behind no evidence to implicate herself. She also openly complained about a trivial matter like Wang Ling's bullying in public to the Emperor and Empress as a means to gage how they would react when their family member is put in the hot seat...
Those characteristics clash a little too much for me to just accept. Some of her "innocent" behavior I could excuse if she were like 10..not 15; and definitely not for someone who is preparing on becoming a bride and managing her own home.

ML of xianxia: badass leaders or Gods of war

Man needs to learn discretion

The thought of Ying Yuan using this Asura sword inside of him one day!!!
