the mum is a walking contradiction, she raised her child in an abusive manner and don't let him have any autonomy over his own life, then she saw the consequences her own actions, and then she undo all his progress without asking for his consent when he's unable to give one.
I kinda hate her even more after episode 9, idc if she saves his drawings and rub healing creams and whatnot she still made kangho experienced the pain that was not even unnecessary. I feel bad for kangho because it's now obvious he still loves his mother even though she treated him horribly

I have to disagree with "I don't think understanding her behavior is justifying it" because have you seen some of the comments here? One can understand her behaviour and intention, and still recognise that she's a shitty mother who raised her child based on fear and compliance. Just scroll down a little and you can see how people preach that 'they are still with the mother'
I'm also confused, where in my messages or OP messages are saying "she deserves to suffer?" no one is hating her blindly, there's no blindness here, we see her actions as abusive while others are framing it as 'love' and 'knowing the best for the child', that was the whole point of OP's post
I agree that it's not easy to change, yes she tried and reverted but her old behaviour is hurting her son hence the OP's criticism is fair, she's not suddenly absolved of all responsibilities and consequences of having raised his son in a borderline abusive manner, just because of having challenges of her own
personally I see trying the justify her behaviour as taking that responsibility and putting it on the son, he has to endure all of it, cuz his mom's life sucks, and by that logic his children should endure too if he gets abusive, cuz his life sucks? that's how the cycle of abuse continues

all the comments about "the mother's intentions" is really funny, she was ready to leave him behind, he's supposed to finish his rehabilitation then find out his mother committed suicide? the lack of sympathy for the son while having an extended one for the mother is quite telling

I believe Kang-ho had his dad's death all figured out, he said he believes his father committed suicide, but in ep1 when he was angry with his mother after the botched exam he said 'you're as bad as the people who killed dad'
watched this going through yeo jin goo's filmography and was pleasantly surprised by how good it is that I need to leave this comment. The 2 timelines are wonderfully knitted, and the last couple episodes really make everything worthwhile. It also touches philosophy in a way that while it's not new to sci-fi, the execution is impressive.
I guess my problem now is that there's no one to talk about this show with
Interesting premise but the editing is too choppy that it's hard to follow. While it's really dark (something I really like in thrillers) it doesn't have the tension because any new information revealed past episode 7 left me confused that I have to keep going back to figure it out, mainly cuz new characters & plot points aren't established long enough to leave an impression. Ep 4 is my favourite because of how gripping it is.
Unfortunately, I did drop the series halfway through ep15 because I was fed up of the editing and decided to watch a summary on youtube instead. I did enjoy the story and the twists, but I wished the watching experience was more enjoyable.
