Just finished it SO disappointed in last episode. I donagree that all victims are cowards as I understand victims of all types of abuse can suffer from "Stockholm Syndrome" e where they become dependent on their abusers. But still can't understand why Sakura went back to help her ex husband! It looks like in the end she could have STILL chosen Haruko and had her own salon. Her husband was abusive in every sense especially manipulative during that "mediation " session. I really found the Hisako storyline quite interesting and in some ways funny. Actress who played that role was brilliant in "My beloved". Totally agree that focus should have been on other women and not just Sakura.
I really outing my age, but can I just tell you how awesome it was when the only way you could connect with someone…
I'm probably older than you! I remember when we didn't have a phone at home you'd make arrangements at work to meet up with someone in town and then just hope that they'd turn up... Weirdly we all managed to meet up too !
One of my favourite romance dramas of all time. Rewatched it again, now that its on netflix. The only negative…
Just finished it - first time watching it - if feels SO much more modern than a lot of series produced recently! Totally agree about adults acting like adults rather than children.. I loved the female lead (unfortunately haven't managed to see her in anything else yet) Totally agree about Rumiko she deserved better.
I used to think 16 episodes was the sweet spot, but then I discovered C-dramas that go on forever, and some of…
Thanks bojojoti I've had a look at your profile and understand where you are coming from. Perhaps it's my age (I'm definitely older than most on this forum) but I really haven't got the patience to watch 78 episodes of anything. There are some fabulous 'telenovela' latin american series which I'd love to watch as I've read the books (in English) but the thought of watching 72 episodes is just too much.. I must admit I probably don't fit into the MDL profile as when I look at my list I've watched more Japanese series than Korean - on Viki probably almost twice as many jdramas as Kdramas). I've loved Takeru Satoh since 'First Love' so Glass Heart was on my list (bought the OST as it's just amazing), then discovered the other 2 actors and things spilled on from there ! If I like an actor/actress I tend to try and find out what else they've done.. Often there are some interesting ones but they're either not in my region (on Viki) or just not on anything where I am! I've tended to watch jdramas on Viki, Netflix and PrimeVideo (Marry my husband with Takeru Satoh) also another fabulous OST (though if I'm correct most of the songs/singers are Korean as it was a joint Japanese-Korean production. Thanks for the recommendation - I've added it to my list. Recently finished "Long Vacation' which was probably the 'oldest' jdrama I've watched so need to post a review on that one..
Just finished it loved ML who I discovered in "Glass Heart" and "Feemats kitchen " - I really hated the 2FL. Think it could have had a few less episodes (perhaps as I'm a newbie I've gotten used to 10 episode jdramas even if sometimes I thibk they could do with 1 or 2 more episodes. I think the FL for all her intellectual intelligence was surpassed by the MLs emotional intelligence - but perhaps that's what kept us watching! Totally agree about MLs dance scenes and to think he played instruments in ""Glass Heart" too. Definitely want to discover more of what he's done - even if I'm not the targeted demographic! I like his style of acting.
Totally agree about Jun Shison's eye. First discovered him in "Glass Heart" then "Fermats kitchen" and now totally hooked trying to discover his earlier works. Between dancing playing musical instruments and cooking what can this guy NOT do brilliantly?
A Masterpiece That Captures the Reality of Same-Sex RelationshipsAt first, I was confused by the imagery of the…
Relatively new to jdramas abd Japanese BL dramas but they always make you think about life. I like that they are always focused on relationships and communication (or lack thereof) often depicting characters who aren't hugely successful/rich but just ordinary people plodding along - I mean this in a positive sense. I think this means we can all relate to the characters and empathise with them.
You know I can somewhat understand Akira, at some point of your life, you start to feel pressure from people around…
Totally agree about societal pressures and what's "normal". Growing up in a small country which was extremely conservative until relatively recently, I definitely can hear my parents echoing the "what will the neighbours think" of Akiras mother. Likewise doubt my parents would have been able to cope with a gay child - thanks to conservative religion and society. Thankfully I left the country and whilst I'm relatively normal living abroad I've had the freedom to be me.
finished the series yesterday and only discovered this! I couldn't find the 2 minutes explaining Akira's attitude though! Wonderful ending I guess Akira passed away earlier giving how many cigarettes he used to smoke!
I'm on episode 7. Does anyone actually evolve or grow in this show? 😂 Finding it hard to pull for anyone. They…
I'm on episode 6 and struggling. Also having a hard time with the really dreary theme song. 'Long Vacation" had better chemistry, feisty female and great soundtrack. Personally find this one more dated than "Long Vacation"
thanks for the review. Just started watching this after "Long Vacation" - I'm only 2-3 episodes in so still not sure about it. Have to agree the OST is nothing like "Long Vacation" who's main song is still ringing in my head. Must admit not badly im love with Riko's personality even thoughhave seen actress in "Quartet" so will watch a few more episodes to see if it grows once.
