amazing acting, wasn't the biggest fan of the story
I was hoping that I would like this more. The premise is interesting enough: two people with trauma from their ex relationships forced together by an obsessed woman who gets off on controlling her ex-husband. As the headline says, the acting was absolutely remarkable, but with a cast like this, that's to be expected. So I will talk about the story, because while I see everyone here praising it, I didn't enjoy it so much. There is a dead body, and it's connected to everybody. Honestly, I didn't really enjoy that part. It was a weird decision to add murder mystery to an already complex plot with a messy, broken marriage that has left a man reliant on drugs to sleep to a runaway groom who left without another word after being exposed as bisexual. The murder mystery didn't even feel like mystery because I literally could not give a damn about it lol. A 30-second clip of an interview isn't going to make me engrossed in a death story that has nothing to do with the main plot of the show...
Since I've mentioned the runaway groom, lets talk about that. What the hell was that? Guys like fr how is this good story telling? He appeared for a grand total of ONE episode after being made into such a big deal for the FL and then he just poof! Disappeared! Gone into thin air! An afterthought! He stabbed a man! Stabbed a man! ON THE TOPIC OF THAT MAN. He is an obsessed stalker. We don't know why he's obsessed; there is never a reason given. We don't know what's wrong with him. He literally makes NOOOO sense as a character I'm so sorry like literally none of his actions made any sense??? OPEN THE TRUNK. OPEN THE TRUNK. ONLY I CAN HAVE HER. WHAT DOES HER MISERY HAVE TO DO WITH MEEEE?? dog water writing sorry that upset me
The ex-wife. I understand she is obsessed. I don't understand why they justified her trying to kill herself while pregnant because her husband was soooo happy to have a baby. The real reason she tried to kill herself is because she couldn't bear the thought of his attention being taken away and given to their child. She's selfish. Simple as that. Not an ounce of pity for her in my mind.
I also found the music really weird sometimes. I think it was the MLs music? But they'd play it during like a serious aerial shot, and good god I could not take it seriously lol. This is ultimately a bland story, which saddens me because it had lots of potential. The trunk was irrelevant, which is funny because this drama is named The Trunk. Could have done just fine without half of the extraness they did, could have been developed better without it. I rest my case.

not bad but not good.
Here's the thing. The story had a good premise. Kang ha is enrolled in an elite private school with a scholarship. Space for said scholarship opened up because his fraternal twin brother died the year before in a hit-and-run car accident. Kang ha enrolled so he could get revenge and justice. Jae I, the female lead and the constant center of attention, has just broken up with her boyfriend of several years after returning from the states. Her boyfriend, Ri an, is obsessed with her (painfully obsessed) and so he's in denial. Kang ha takes advantage of Jae I's connection with Ri an because he knows that Ri an was involved in his brother's death. Alright, there's the premise. The whole thing was ruined, though, because for some reason they just HAD to give Kang ha and Jae I a goofy little "love" story, if you could even call it that. Kang ha never had a chance, that much was obvious because Jae I OBVIOUSLY still loved her ex-boyfriend and had only broken up with him out of fear of her crazy father. Kang ha is supposed to be driven by revenge, he's supposed to hate all of these people for just standing by and doing nothing while his brother was abused and tortured. But...oh! Oh my god! Pretty cold rich broken girl is just SOOOOOO heart-wrenchingly loveable! So Kang ha starts to like her, and now his plot for revenge doesn't seem so much like a plot for revenge anymore. This story could have been GREAT. Amazing, even. Imagine if Kang ha were a morally grey character and he'd manipulated everyone to get exactly what he wanted? He could have destroyed lives and made a spectacle of all of them, but he didn't. Why? Because he had a crushy wushy on Jae I!
Then there's Jae I herself, the most ridiculous character I've ever seen. I understand that she's supposed to have anxiety and whatnot because of her father. But that's not what I'm focused on. She spends this entire series USING Kang ha's crush to get away from her obsessed ex, and then we find out that the WHOLE time while we THINK she's catching feelings for him, she was actually just thinking about her ex. Okay, fine. That happens in the real world. But then, why, when Kang ha runs after her and cries in her arms, does she lead him on??? I hate her character so much lmfao she was dumb and didn't make use of ANY of her resources. Just acted like a damsel in distress the entire time. I can count the amount of times she raised her voice on two hands, maybe one.
We were SUPPOSED to have a murder mystery, trying to find out which of them had run Kang ha's brother over, but instead, we're given a teacher who doesn't act like a teacher that...oh my?!?!?! ran him over because he...caught her kissing a student!?!?!??!?! shut up what the hell that ruined whatever this drama had left to redeem itself lmfao because are you fr??? And the way they BUTCHERED this even more by adding in all this ridiculous side plot with the pregnancy and the stalker brother??? This should have been focused on the MURDER. That's what would have made this good. The ending? Even more absurd than I thought it would be. They tried making it bittersweet and ooooo dark ooooo, but really....?????? Ugh why do they ruin good stories with bad writing

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabsolutely not.
long story short, a woman infiltrates the lives of very wealthy people and drives them all to insanity as revenge for the murder of her parents. it was, on paper, an engaging idea. i loved the revenge, yea ji's acting was nice, and I especially loved her character's craziness (why are her eyebrows bleached?). they were ALL crazy, matter of fact. there wasn't one sane person in this show. the children were essentially used as props for both female leads, treated like expendable objects from beginning to end. ra el, while she did care(?), used her husband's child for her gain. so ra was even worse, so obsessed with her husband for whatever inexplicable reason (omg she actually loves him?!?! wait no, she just doesn't want to get beat??) that she finally remembers she has a daughter and makes her cry to garner attention. when I imagine ra el's thought process, I imagine something along the lines of "oh, her daughter still wears diapers? PROP! humiliate the child because it will also humiliate her mother!" so basically I do not like the way children were treated in this series.the ending was weird. so ra loses her mind, like actually. she puts on some kind of joker face and runs out all crazy wanting to kill ra el. i don't understand why either of these women were so in love with that damn man. besides the fact that I personally do not find his actor attractive, the character's personality was boring at best. he was a painfully easy man. all it took was a little bit of OOOOOooOoOOOooO tANGoooO and he was already getting hot in the crotch like whattt??? i do not find it attractive that the only things he could think of doing with a woman he believed he was in love with were to get her dramatically expensive gifts and take her to a secret villa or wherever the hell they were for some DEVIL'S TANGO. and does nobody else find it terribly strange that he finds her secret little hacker lair and then DOESN'T search it despite obviously being very upset? ummm okay sir. and then she just... returns to it? like its location hasn't been compromised?
let's talk about that damn lawyer! while he is visually VERY pleasing to the eye, I cannot possibly imagine acting this down bad for a girl you had just saved 13 years ago from abuse!!! he was strange! very! very! strange! i do not understand why it was necessary to make every man so unbelievably obsessed with her??? why couldn't she have had some REAL competition? a revenge plot with high stakes should have revenge that is HARD but SATISFYING.
THE BODYGUARD. is he a bodyguard? i think he is. whatever he was literally so stupid. i didn't, for even a second, understand his blind loyalty toward that despicable woman (so ra in case you forgot). she used him for pleasure (which by the way... why is she so upset her husband was cheating when she was doing the same thing? girl bye cheater mentality makes no sense), used him for ATTEMPTED MURDER, used him to spy... god the list goes on. oh his mom is sick!!!! okay... so... like... even after you can happily switch sides and likely get even more money... you're still doing what she says... like you can't make this up it isn't until that banshee is dead that he FINALLY opens his eyes??? whatever.
pan ro. what was that? yk, I see this actor playing the role of an abusive filthy rich CEO father 24/7 and I'm sure he's sick of it. I'm sure he only became even more sick of it after having to act as the disaster that was pan ro. first of all... that character is so damn flat like what??? he has no depth past I'M GONNA BEAT YOU UP GRRRRR and grabbing a hammer like he's gonna do something PFFT. he's got a funky little habit of putting people in cages. past that? what more do we know? nada. you wanna know what he's there for? to make us feel PITY for his grown ass daughter. they made him the mastermind of it all and for what? boring. could've done something more.
this should NOT have had a lick of romance. it would have been a thousand times better without it.
