DOYAJAAAA Based on true events, this was a heartwarming and inspiring story of a man's journey from a lazy bum to becoming the Emperor's cook, led by Satoh Takeru who delivered a sincere performance as a hardworking yet flawed and selfish man. He was decent, but Suzuki Ryohei and Kuroki Haru stole the show for me with their wonderful performances as the two characters your heart broke for. It is no wonder they say that behind every successful person, there's always a helping hand. In this case, it was Toshiko's silent strength and dedication, Shutaro's unwavering support and his father's tough yet unconditional love for Tokuzo that allowed him to neglect everything and pursue his dreams. I loved that Tokuzo came to realise this in the final arc of the drama. Beautifully written, acted, scored and picturised all around. Highly recommend this gem for all!
P.S Je t'aime has taken on a new meaning for me thanks to this drama <3
This is around the time they stopped making good japanese dramas/japanese dramas died, at least for me. Same can…

Please put a spoiler tag on your comment. Thank you. And yes, Toshiko and Shutaro were my favourite characters too! My heart broke for both of them... sigh.
A realistic and disturbing film depicting a toxic relationship between two mentally unstable individuals who were each other's muse, and yet abused each other to no end physically, mentally and sexually. This is a film for a mature audience. Please watch with caution.
Expect the unexpected, all the way to the end. Eerie, dark and gripping mystery, with a clever plot conveying various themes of greed, deception, loss, infidelity, bullying amongst others, stunning cinematography and a fitting score that heightened the tension and emotions both for the viewer and the characters. An A1 drama all around. Highly recommended!
P.S The first 2 episodes are meant to confuse and intrigue you. Stick with it, and it starts falling into place from the 3rd episode.
Pooh! Seeing you here I know this must be a quality drama. Will wait for it to end before I start.
Hello there! Yes, it's a warm, cosy, feel good drama. A must watch esp for people like us who love the classic doramas. Do let me know your thoughts after you watch :)
The acting, the characters and the kisses were average. This one lacked soul. There are way better romantic J dramas. For those looking for actual quality J dramas - watch the full length cable dramas, rather than the short manga dramas like these that are meant for teens.
My first ever introduction to a Chinese drama. I remember watching it with my mum and brother on TV back when it was airing Good old days... Can't believe it's been over 25 years since this aired I don't even remember the plot anymore but I'll never forget the characters; playful Xiao Yan Zi, tragic Zi Wei, Er Kang and the old creepy man who liked Zi Wei. Looks like it's time for a rewatch
The one word I'm never forgetting thanks to this drama - karakai
E6 - E7 were so bittersweet. MY POOR BABIES :(( SERIOUSLY HAVEN'T HAD A ROMANCE DRAMA GIVE ME THESE KIND OF FEELS IN A WHILE The urge to just pull them close and force all those unspoken feelings out loud. Growing up is tough.. sigh.
What an underrated and bittersweet coming-of-age film with beautiful performances by Chris Wu, Sandrine Pinna, and Alice Ke. The soundtrack really hit the right spots in elevating the characters' feelings. I felt sad for all 4 of them.
As long as the screenwriter is the same.. please tell me that has not changed.
For me the script and acting was the most winning point of the first season, but yes I do hope the new director can live up to the predecessor, and doesn't mess up the screenplay. Sometimes a bad director can ruin a good script. Fingers crossed!
