Ep 28 was pretty funny

Chinese dramas are so unreliable, and it really pisses me off. And the ratings on MDL don't help, because the fact that this is currently 8.4 BLOWS my mind. Every character is now just a caricature of a character we've seen before.

Popularity has been decreasing because this has gone to hell in a handbasket. No amount of releasing express or whatever is going to help this drama. It started off so well, I was hooked. It's just utter rubbish now, and nothing we haven't seen before. None of the scenes have any emotional impact now, we're just watching rehashed scenes from other dramas. I'm so disappointed with this.

Yes, and as you said, it's like even though she was in love with another man for years, (and especially because she ADMIRED his principles so much) she just woke up one morning and decided to be in love with another dude because he was writing about her in his 'diary'? And the day after she decides she loves him, she now lives him so much she watches him choke someone, and is like "well this is a tricky situation, because this isn't cool, but I'm MADLY, DEEPLY, PASSIONATELY in love with this dude" What the fuck even is going on with this drama now? And currently we are just skipping from scene to scene to scene, with zero character development, and it has gone to ABSOLUTE shit. I shouldn't be surprised by now at how unreliable Chinese dramas are, but I'm really surprised that there are people saying it's still really good.

Yep, her falling in love was him was so unconvincing, and to the point where this extremely righteous woman decides to cast her principles aside because even though he's a monster, she just loves him that much? Absolute nonsense.

Same. I'm on ep 25, and I feel like it's just turned into something I've seen many times before, and I'm muttering "blah, blah, blah, get on with it" throughout the episodes.

Absolutely fabulous, until it wasn't, and the final episode felt like torture. It's been a long time since I've watched something nosedive so dramatically. Makes me wonder how much of the script was available when Shin Hye Sun agreed to this.

Episode 23!was so hackneyed it delivered the same emotional impact as the shamwow commercial

The cinematography and sound design in this drama are masterful.

They should just make this into a once a week long running drama. I can imagine sitting down to watch a comforting episode of this every Sunday afternoon.

He appears to have been the only son of the Empress though, which means he would have been CP if not for the fire incident, which is why current CP instigated it, because although he is older, he's the son of a concubine, and they rank lower.

Costume designer would have been THRILLED to have someone so gorgeous and sexy to play with.

That painting made me really emotional. Shows how much he really listens to her, not just to what she's saying, but how much what she's saying means to her personally. And the fact that she opens up to him, shows how much she trusts him with important parts of herself. I also LOVED when she had to stand in the sun, and he bought the chair and the maids with the umbrella and fan. Boy, we KNOW you weren't just doing that for show 🤣

I have a fairly extensive list of future husbands, and he's very high on it. He gives me the shivers, in a VERY good way 🤣 He looks like a man who knows what's what
