This is just the writer trying to keep Youngchae in the story at whatever cost (when she should've just gotten fired) There actually was a case of a kpop idol turned actress who got caught plagiarizing designs (Yoon Eunhye I believe) and she had to go on hiatus for a while. It was a major scandal and she wasn't even a designer by trade.

I thought Hyera's speech to Jina about the integrity of a designer was actually really well written and captured the severity of this offense. Too bad the screenwriter completely missed the mark on what would've been a satisfying moment...

She's not exactly wrong that not all FLs aren't going to be sweet and naive. Character development is also an important part of storytelling. Highly recommend you research "static characters" vs "dynamic characters". I like to write stories in my free time so I am knowledgeable about this kind of stuff...

Character development is also how we get the bright personality FLs morphing into revenge incarnates when the time is right. Jerky MLs who turn out to actually have hearts of gold. Bad guys remorseful. Character development DRIVES the story!! Idk about you but could you imagine watching 120 episodes of a drama where the main characters don't learn anything or change at all? Because ngl there's no way I can stomach Jangmi as she is right now for 120 episodes. I'd go crazy lmfao

I hope you end up enjoying the drama whenever you decide to jump back in. I'll wait until Friday's ep to decide ... I figure I'll jump back in after the Olympics end if I do...

ngl hoping Sukhee is our token makjang casualty, she's soooo obnoxious. you can write brain damaged characters without making them super annoying. Sucks that Jangmis family scenes are centered around her... we get it, she has brain damage.

I like Lee Jiyeon in this role (Baekho and Junho's mother) probably the least annoying character I've seen her play lol. And of course, Jungchan will always be one of my faves lol

Not to mention Mr. Cold City Man Junho! Yes I will call him that for the rest of the drama 😭 I love his swagger.

Seorin is my favorite of the twins .... shocker ! Jangmi is way too typical of an FL for me to care and I don't care about guitargate'25. I'll finish catching up tomorrow as it's time to go out ... happy new year to everyone

Seo Hyunjoo is who your beef is with... I can't believe I'm saying this but actors just act out the script. That's it. They literally get paid to ACT. They don't write the scripts nor do they have any creative input ... that would be the director. Screenwriter writes the script/the story. Director translates it for the screen. Actors follow the directions of Screenwriter and Director.

Back to Seo Hyunjoo.

This is the 5th drama I've watched that's written by her and this is how ALL her MLs and FLs meet each other. Then they bond and chemistry forms as the FL gets wronged by whoever the villain is.... The ML will then walk side by side with her ...

Personally I can't stand it so I fast forward through it. MOST dailies will have the ML and FL be jerks to each other at the very beginning while the villains are villaining but Seo Hyunjoo REALLY likes to lay it on thick. I find it more obnoxious than anything else.

I would advise you to come back around episode 30~35, by that point the FL and ML will be nicer towards each other as the plot will be in full swing. SHJ is a BIG fan of the enemies to lovers trope (which is popular with a lot of people but I'm not a fan of how she writes it)

Nansook threw a match to an oil field with that article and Jeongwon thinks Hyera caused the explosion , oh boy ! You know it's bad when your Resident Nansook Shooter is cringing because that move is so FOUL... kibeom was A LOT of things and he's not my favorite character by any means BUT it's disrespectful to do that to a dead man. Taeseok was right when he said that "things are about to get interesting", they sure are!

The fake headlines juxtaposed over the happy flashbacks of the family was brilliant I actually liked that. Y'know for a daily, this drama is actually pretty experimental with the camera work. Like it's nothing crazy but compared to other daily dramas this one has great cinematography. The scene where Hyera told Jeongwon not to forgive her was another great example... Glad KBS is investing in their dailies hopefully this trend continues in the new year .

Seems like the first episode of 2026 will feature Youngchae potentially getting exposed and Semi turning into a villain. Not to mention the fallout from the article...

Was not expecting Jeongwon to pull a fast one and outsmart Youngchae/Nansook. The fact that Youngchae still has to show up to work while suspended is interesting... since usually suspension= you stay home.

Forced resignation would've been the correct consequence but Youngchae got that plot armor lol

Haneul is way too upright for this drama lmao he really sticks out like a sore thumb. The male secretary (Mihyang's love interest) was absolutely right when he said if he wasn't for Haneul no one would've come clean...

Sunghee (Jeongwon's friend from the department store) annoys me for some reason, but not to the point of taking me out the drama. I acually like Jina working with Jeongwon, hopefully it sticks but we're at the point where everyone is playing chess and the board is Kunhyang...

Now that you put it like that I could easily see her skipping class and living the NYC party girl life lol

It felt like that was something that Lee Seungyeon and Han Ki Woong improvised and the PDs kept it in lol

You got me thinking... I hope in 2026 we get a daily where Lee Chaeyoung is playing a villain FL 😭 like I think that would be so fun to watch

I honestly think this drama + the two sisters especially the two sisters was the wake up call for KBS dailies to step their game up. Woman in a Veil walked so The Two Sisters could run (directly into the KBS quality control department,that is 😭)

Don't ask me how this would work out but watch his mom somehow have blood ties to the Kunhyang family, making him the rightful heir. Sehoon (and Nansook) would go crazy lol

Like .... what if Haneul's bio mom is Sehoon's bio mom? What if they turn out to be half brothers or something...

Caught up on this now that Xmas has wrapped up. Glad we got out of the "Sehoon moping around over a failed love triangle" era. I actually like him way better now that he's willing to play along with Nansook 😭. Welcome to the dark side, Sehoon, it suits you

Did anyone peep that the fortune teller pulled THE TOWER for Semi regarding her question about Haneul? I used to be into tarot a long time ago and that card pretty much means things are going to get real (in a bad/intense way) between Semi and Haneul, changing their relationship forever. Taeseok is probably going to plot their marriage and it will backfire immensely...

At first I thought the whole "blind hiring" scandal was dumb (ngl I agreed with Semi when she said "I don't want to teach new people A to Z" , because same lol. Is it really a bad thing to have minimal educational requirements for specialized roles?) but this is how Youngchae gets "exposed". I do find it funny that Youngchae went to Royal Art but didn't seem to learn anything while she was there ... meanwhile Jeongwon has that plot armor where she was born with inherent natural talent like all FLs are 🙄

(But I'm not a hater. I said it at the beginning of the drama and I'll say it again, Jeongwon actually has the best designs of the wannabe fashion designer FLs I've seen...)

In true Lee Dohyeon fashion the results got intercepted and swapped and Jeongwon will probably face the consequences for "making a scene" tomorrow ...

Btw speaking of Lee Dohyeon (the screenwriter) kinda screwed up in making Sangcheol an unlikeable character... It is very hard for me to care that he got killed off. On a similar note, I think that's also why Haneul's revenge doesn't interest me either. If Sangcheol wasn't an alcoholic adulter I would have more sympathy for him getting killed. But he was! I guess this is LDH's attempt at writing an "asshole victim" ... we aren't going to get that kind of depth from a daily drama but he tried I guess? It also doesn't help that we see Sangcheol seldomly, and it's always in a flashback. He's way too minor/insignificant of a character to be the reason for one of the lead's revenge... I'm not invested lol

I wonder what happened to Haneul's birth mother. Has she ever been mentioned?

Btw secretary gu is actually hilarious lmaooo (when he presented the USB in the bag??? 😭) the gag scenes in this daily are pretty good in the sense they don't take me out the drama. Nansook accidentally slapping Sehoon with the rice cake was absolutely hilarious lol

The day a makjang gives us a "meet cute" that's a Bollywood musical number will be the day I can actually stand to watch the leads fall in love with each other lmfaoooooo

wow.... i can't believe it took this early but I pretty much fastforwarded through half this episode [Jangmi's storyline. this "meet cute" between her and Baekho is so stupid LMFAO... Jangmi comes off as annoying here. I think the only drama that did the "meet cute" in a way I liked was A Graceful Liar, which subverted the whole "ML is a jerk to the FL because she spilled something on him etc" trope] hopefully Hwayoung targeting Sukhee means the two families start to intertwine...

also, the scene with the storeowner jangmi and sukhee??? i would much rather watch Seorin act like a spoiled brat haha ... btw seeing Eunjung as Seorin is fun, I don't think she's ever played a character like this before lol

That being said I actually like Baekho and Jangmi just not with this scenario I am sure once the plot actually advances I will like them as a pair a lot more.

and I am glad we are getting word of the sister's whereabout's - she is not dead like some of us have speculated. She just doesn't live with the family because she got married and lives with her husband's family! I expect for her to show up eventually....

I gotta say, I definitely agree with you there! Secret House is by far the darkest daily I've watched...

I like jaehwan as a lead character and I hope to see seo hajoon in another daily as the lead character!

The Nams are probably one of the most dysfunctional, toxic chaebol families I've ever seen in a drama and I love every second of it 😭 so many secrets...

I like it! I do appreciate the darkness and the fact that the story is centered around the male lead for once ... I wonder if mbc would ever give us a another revenge daily with a male lead (maybe something like temptation of an angel or queen of ambition? I can dream lol)

Not sure but she probably will unless the writer decides to subvert the usual trope....

Between Sukhee being Sukhee and Baekho and Jangmi's antics I am way more into the Hwayoung/Seorin/Junho/Hongju storyline rn... and ngl I am interested in Junho's idea of combining Western x Korean cuisines 👀 the restaurant setting is going to be fun. Hongju is probably going to be one of those characters who goes from victim to assailant, especially since she's seemingly aware that "she could have what Seorin has".

Mr. Cold City Man is everything lol but I wonder what the real reason is that Junho chose Chang Restaurant....

Also a fun little easter egg - when Hwayoung is talking to President Hwayoung, all the posters in the background are older (but recent) MBC daily dramas - Meant to Be, Secret House and Desperate Miss Seonju. Reminding me I still have to finish SH ... lol.
