Catching up yet again.... Sunjae being Miso's dad????? I have to say - I'm familiar with 3/4 of the main leads…
I'm realizing why I'm responding so strongly to this drama . Besides the actors, the screenwriter also wrote Hide & Seek, which I loved. I highly recommend it if you like the whole makjang fake / long lost daughters trope!
I have to say - I'm familiar with 3/4 of the main leads - I've seen and am fans of every actor and actress except for Jang Shinyoung. And this is a fine introduction to her. If Goo Hana has been my favorite KBS makjang heroine in a while, Baek Seolhee is my favorite MBC makjang heroine.
Now... If there's one thing Oh Changseok can do, it's absolutely body the role of the overly ambitious lawyer from humble beginnings, who gets overwhelmed by the sin of greed. I'm currently watching game of witches and if his character follows the same trajectory π
Seo Hajoon is charming as always. I always find myself smiling at his scenes. The mystery behind Moon TaeGyeong's parent's death is very interesting. I know that mingang has ties to it, but I'm just wondering HOW?
Yoon Ahjeong - first was introduced to her in Ice Adonis/Yellow Boots about 12 years ago! She was playing the villain there too, but Kyungchae is a different type of villain than Yura was... And with that you can really see the growth and maturity of the actress. Her performance is the definition of "aged like fine wine".
As for the min family drama ... Soojung is actually growing on me because she's more than willing to stir the pot and stab her half sister in the back. She's a loose cannon and I'm here for kt. It makes me wonder... Will she eventually end up working with Seolhee in the future?
Definitely liking this better than Desperate Ms Seonju and Queen's House (although I think that the latter is way better than the former). I have limited time to watch dramas these days and I find myself prioritizing this one lol
I really enjoy the fact that the FL and ML's meeting subverted the car accident trope. Ie when the ML is super obnoxious about demanding compensation. So far, I like their relationship.
Min family drama is A1. I think manager kong is Seri's mother. I got clued in during the dinner scene, when she gave Chairman Min the salad. "I need to work here for a long time" - if she isn't Seri's mother at the very minimum, she at least has a relationship with him. That actually wouldn't be surprising, since it's been established that he sleeps around...
Speaking of Seri, you can see how every adult around her has failed her ... Like the kid got expelled for defending herself against racist bullies multiple times and Kyungchae's response is to send her back (to do what exactly? She got EXPELLED). If she was raised with that level of emotional neglect then geez, no wonder she turned out how she did!
It is nice seeing the parallel between miso and seri - one was raised with the love of her mother while the other was raised with the absence of it.
I feel like we're going to get Game of Witches level corporate chaebol shenanigans with this one. Especially since Soojung and Kyungchae aren't full sisters.
I'm enjoying Luda as Miso. And I absolutely love Miso and Seolhee's mother daughter relationship. It only means the revenge is going to be even sweeter when it kicks off. So far, I am liking it
Pretty sure the stabbing was a (day)dream sequence. Did you watch the preview for Monday?
I was actually surprised to see the preview tbh... Since dailies usually end on Fridays I thought that was the final episode πΆ (I was low-key glad to see it because I thought that was how the series was gonna end)
If anything I can see it being a dream sequence or she stabs her, Seonju survives, and SangA's prison sentence gets extended from 25 to life since she not only became a fugitive but committed a violent crime while doing so
This is the first time in a while I've seen a main daily poster with only the FL on it. I wish the main poster was the other one, where she is holding the rose but it is what it is lol
Soon Aeβs Perspective: Survival Over MoralitySoon Aeβs actions follow a clear pattern shaped by the circumstances…
This is an interesting perspective and I see what you're saying. Being forced in bad situations when you yourself don't have the foundation+ emotional stability/support ... things will get messy. People will get desperate when they feel trapped...
It's similar to how here in the US, women weren't allowed to do things like open up bank accounts w/o a man's signature (husband or father) until like ... the mid seventies? That's a huge reason why street walking was a huge thing in major cities... especially if for whatever reason you were running from an abusive spouse/family situation.
I also think people don't realize that SK used to be way harder to live in than modern society. Especially of a person of Soonae's age, SK wasn't doing too well after the split (Fun fact: NK was actually better off until the 90s) and you know the saying, desparate times call for desparate measures. Poverty can do a number on a person... it's called living in survival mode. People do crazy shit when they're dysregulated. And to someone who never heals, like Soonae, she will never see the wrong in her actions. Because in her mind, she was perfectly justified, since it got her out of survival mode and into "the good life"
Me saying this =/= me excusing Soonae's actions, but they shed context
Maneun serves as a good foil to her because despite growing up in the same circumstances, the only crime she committed was annoying me (lol). The difference between having a good emotional foundation and a bad one... early childhood experiences and all that jazz
The fact that sangah was able to get away with sneaking out the hospital the way that she did is crazy work. I was fully expecting for her to get caught. Not as iconic as Lee Yuri's prison escape from Ice Adonis, but....
And she stabbed Seonju at her wedding??? lmaooo what the
I can only imagine how y'all feel - those of you who have stayed loyal to this from episode 1 π€£
I dropped this drama (will probably pick up at a later date) but I got curious and watched the very beginning of episode 123 and BOMB THREATS? βπΎπ HOW did it escalate to this
So Jayoung isn't actually Seungwoo's son and in her PTSD induced rage, she was going to kill Dohee and blame it on drunk Seungwoo? It didn't go that way, but this is SO makjang. It explains why she doesn't want him inheriting YL ... despite their perceives closeness. Now I have to wonder, will his mother end up showing up at some point?
I'm actually shocked bc I thought it would be JAEIN with the birth secret - like maybe seri hated her because she knew they were swapped or something. Idk. But hey, this is a makjang, the writershand out birth secrets like they're candy - anything is possible!
And much to no ones surprise, Dohee is our first fatality in Queen's House - by way of Gichang's Genesis. Of course, Seri was with him and they're gonna hide the evidence! RIP Dohee, she had a good run... and honestly? Doyun and Dohee have the healthiest relationship in this show - Doyun's angst is going to be intense... And it's boram's birthday too? π Now that Dohee is dead, Seri can no longer "hide" behind her. Next question becomes: how long until the affair gets exposed?
I think the story is foreshadowing that Yukyung is going to turn against Jaein ... the threat potential is there. (There will definitely be drama between Doyun/Yukyung/Jaein. Nara is a red herring - it seems like the bratty (ex?) SIL will be Jaein's biggest obstacle, but with Yukyung, the betrayal will sting more. I'm excited to see where this goes
ETA: THE *WAY* DOYUN FOUND OUT???? My biggest anxiety working in healthcare - that I'm going to come across someone I know and love on the job and they've died unexpectedly and nothing can be done.
"Dohee-yah, it's time to go to your birthday party" π
So I totally have been neglecting this drama because of the nhl playoffs (duality of woman and all that lol) so…
NOT HER ENLISTING SERI'S HELP TO "CATCH" GICHANG???? and then ending her request with "don't tell Jaein"
She has no idea she's making a deal with the devil π
And in true makjang fashion, the most obnoxious character in the show (Giman, who is my least favorite character hands down) gets to run a restaurant! I'm surprised it happened this early but I'll take scenes of him trying to run a restaurant instead of watching him be a drunk, emotionally unstable man child
So I totally have been neglecting this drama because of the nhl playoffs (duality of woman and all that lol) so I last left off on episode 7 and while I appreciate the heat that Jaein's mother is bringing to Dohee, I wish her spy would've gotten footage of him with the ACTUAL adultress. How I wish Dohee would've exposed Gichang to him instead of trusting in his words π
Sunjae being Miso's dad?????

That's actually so fascinating that you got to visit North Korea in the 1980s. I was born in 1994 so that feels like a whole different world to me.
You're right. It really is fascinating
If anything I can see it being a dream sequence or she stabs her, Seonju survives, and SangA's prison sentence gets extended from 25 to life since she not only became a fugitive but committed a violent crime while doing so
Guess we'll find out on Monday π
Just watched the trailer and sign me up!

Even as of today (May 11 2025) he hasn't actually acted in any project since dropping out of Elegant Empire so I hope he is doing okay
