I attempted to look into the screenwriter (Seo Jung) and there's absolutely no information on them which leads me to believe that this is their first drama, and it's definitely showing lol
"there's no way the jin family hates us, but why are they treating us like this" OH YOU SWEET SUMMER CHILD π I can't believe they just had this conversation
I'm glad SangA called the police on the Clown Brigade because that's 100% what I would've done. Yes, they burned you with the insurance settlement but that behavior surely isn't going to make them change their minds
I've never met a more obnoxious kdrama family than the Pis. I've never been on Team No One so hard in my life.
I might temporarily drop this and come back in 2 weeks with the hope that the car insurance subplot is done with π as you can probably tell I'm not a fan
The FL's cheating jerk hasn't said a kind word or even hugged her since he arrived, yet she's still fighting to…
100% if I watched this without subs and missed the flashback scenes of them together, I would've guessed that Namjin isn't Seonju's husband but rather her enemy that she has a crush on...
Watching SangA and Sowoo talk about their deteriorating relationship is so refreshing compared to watching Seonju and Namjin.... I feel like the latter is going to drag their separation out whereas the former will probably divorce quickly.
Sowoo vs Namjin ... The male leads are aware of each other ... I'm on team Sowoo for now until the end, but Namjin was good in that scene too. He's a funny man, the shamlessness is up there with the woman in my icon (Yeon Minjeong from Jang Bori is here. Absolutely watch this if you want an off the walls makjang villain lol)
Not only did Seonju lose her man but it also looks like she's going to be out of a job as well, since her company got hit with the mystical k-dramas red tape of doom that means the feds are here and they're ready to seize some assets. I wouldn't be surprised if SangAh somehow was behind this. This show is very predictable in the sense that all evil acts are traced back to either SangAh or another member of the Jin family, while the Pis are consistently down on their luck... to the point that watching their misfortunes can get draining.
Next episode preview: we are circling back to the Clown Brigade (Pi family) trying to beg money from the Jin family. If it's meant for the car accident settlement... it's time to wrap this subplot up. This subplot is meant to establish the pi family as "good" and the jin family as "bad" but the Pi family's approach is so obnoxious (and watching Maneun be in denial towards Soonae never fails to make me cringe because Soonae doesn't exactly hide that she dislikes her) that I actually enjoy watching the Jin family knock them down (for now...) But hopefully something happens soon enough so that they can realize that the Jin family is the enemy and not the chummy neighborhood pals that Maneun seems to think they are. It's cartoonishly annoying, actually
Sidenote but Jin Architecture (the building) looks very cool. Probably the coolest "company" setting I've seen in a daily, I wouldn't mind working in an office that looks like that lol
Seonju finding out about the affair WHILE in the apartment as the affair couple are messing around? Sowoo pulling up outside? Next episode is going to be fun
And I let out the biggest laugh at my TV during next episode's preview when Namjin said "she was helping me put on pain relief patches" πππ like if that's true I'm actually BoA π
she dies in a car accident off screen. her son (eunchong) is being raised by hana
Soompi's thread for this drama has translations of the character summaries and for Hana, hers says that she is raising her friends son after her friend (Duna) died..I'm trying to remember where exactly it was said that she died in a car accident....it might have been said in the drama.
The fact that Hana was considering selling her organs for $$$... it's been a while since I've seen a makjang FL who was in THAT bad of a situation.... the reversal will be glorious
I'm only on episode 9 but Eunchong is THE BEST kid character I've EVER seen in a makjang drama ... π protect him at all costs. If anything happens to him, I'm out!!
Seyoung may be the "villain" 2FL but she's just a marionette. Myungji is the true evil, the puppet master. I've seen evil mother-daughter duos in dailies before, but I've never seen a mother control her daughter's life like this (usually the daughter keeps some degree of free will, or wants to go along with the mother's schemes. I feel like Seyoung begrudgingly goes along with her). Makes for a complex relationship and I can't wait to see how it plays out. Now I'm off to watch Ji Suwon in the brave yong sujeong π€ͺ
We ran into this issue with another daily that kept getting postponed: Snow White's Revenge. But long story short that timer doesn't take in account episodes being delayed for whatever reason
Hello,I guess things arenβt great in SK.At least in the US when they interrupt a regularly scheduled broadcast,…
I heard about the current events in SK so I completely understand why they keep delaying the drama... At least it gives me time to watch my other dramas lol
From what we see so far 'Kind' is a better descriptor for Seonju than "desparate"... maybe as we get further into the drama we'll see why the title was officially translated as "desparate miss Seonju"!
Namjin was warmish towards Jihyun at the beginning... granted, we don't see much of Namjin and Seonju interact…
I've seen (unofficial) summaries hinting that somehow, this is going to turn into a revenge drama....most of the dailies in this timeslot are revenge dramas so that's just me speculating...
But revenge or not, I just want my OT4 (Seonju, Sowoo, Taeri & Jihyun) to live happily ever after π
Namjin was warmish towards Jihyun at the beginning... granted, we don't see much of Namjin and Seonju interact…
I am happy you like my idea! Sometimes I think about writing a daily drama for fun lol
In the very first episode, there's a scene with JungBae and Soonae (SangAh and Chua's parents) talking. Thats where they reveal that Soonae is the mother of Chua and that SangA's birth mother passed away (this is a makjang though, so never say never π). There was a line where JungBae was like "you treat Sangah better than Chua and she's not even yours" or something to that effect.
If the writers have to kill one of the children off... I hope Taeri is the one that's spared. (Sorry to Jihyun but something has to happen for Seonju to get her revenge) Like if something happens to him or Sowoo I might have to take a break from this one lol
(1) Is Jihyun Namjin's biological daughter? (2) Is Taeri Sang-ah's biological son?Any spoilers are welcome.I don't…
Namjin was warmish towards Jihyun at the beginning... granted, we don't see much of Namjin and Seonju interact (we get the car accident subplot instead) but when Namjin came home, he was happy to see Jihyun and greeted her. As for SangA, she ditched Taeri multiple times, referred to him as "that child" instead of "my child" or even "my son". There was even a voiceover from a psychiatrist saying that Taeri is emotionally neglected by SangA.
The rest of this is pure speculation/theory:
There's no talk about nonbiological children in the drama iirc.... the only one I can think of is SangA - her mother is dead. Maybe that could influence SangA's indifference towards him (and if SangA herself was raised in that manner, she could view it as normal), maybe not.
Namjin comes off as frustrated by the situation... and is projecting that onto Jihyun..maybe, maybe not. Namjin comes off as he outgrew Seonju as a person while spending an extended time studying abroad. HOWEVER he is choosing to go about it in the wrong way (cheating and having an affair)
What I fear is that one of the children will eventually get killed off, since (makjang) kdrama writers generally don't like to write in blended families, and that would "solve" the issue of custody whenever it comes up in this story. (Since Korea doesn't do joint custody) I hope that I am wrong about this...
My prediction for how the story handles the kids: after the original couples divorce, Jihyun stays with Seonju. SangA's family keeps Taeri (using their money as leverage) and the neglect causes him to stop speaking... Seonju and Sowoo somehow get Taeri back and Seonju's positive energy helps bring Taeri out of his shell. The four live happily ever after...
And to answer your last question: unfortunately, yes. There are people out there with low emotional intelligence that put their own desires over their children. You can usually tell who they are because they make it obvious they're selfish af
Episode 6:Makjang "meet cute" logic never fails to amaze me. No one told Hana to speed after the car π so why…
episode 7: This is the first makjang I've seen where the "industry" is tourism/tour guides. Of course Hana thinks that Jingoo is behind the article but it was really Seyoung. I'm surprised Seyoung and Hana didn't recognize each other, given what happened at the piano recital.
Lol @ Yeojin's assistant being Hana's ex MIL... she's gonna eat those words if Hana ever "becomes" Yujin
Yeah I'm not really feeling how the step siblings are treating Hana. I do feel a little warmer towards Jiseok though... because he's cooking something interesting with Yeojin.
Ji Suwon is really good at the mommie dearest type role lol. The scene with Jiseok, Jingoo and Seyoung outside the elevator made it clear to me that Seyoung doesn't actually want Hyesung/Jingoo... That's just Myeongji's ambition at work. I like Bangeul (Jingoo's mom) because she sees right through her. "Your ambition should match your abilities" that hurt me and I'm not even a character in the drama!
Hana's self righteousness is annoying.... The scene outside of the restaurant, girl be for real... I'll be glad when she catches the spirit of revenge. Until then I'm going to be mostly invested in the other three leads.
Episode ends with Seyoung going from 0 to 100 for no reason and slapping Hana. Tomorrows preview looks interesting, Hana keeps meddling in Jingoo and Seyoung's business.
So far, so good. I am glad this daily isn't running into broadcast delays like desparate ms. seonju is, because I'm enjoying this one way more!
Episode 6: Makjang "meet cute" logic never fails to amaze me. No one told Hana to speed after the car π so why would Jingoo pay your speeding ticket? Make it make sense.
Seems like Seyoung and Jingoo are due to be married, but she likes Jiseok? The character chart for this daily isn't very clear. Jiseok seems to be plotting something. He seems to have some kind of beef with Hana. Idk how I feel about the step siblings so far... They don't seem to be very warm towards Hana. Eunchong though? He's golden
Hana already has a boyfriend but for nothing as his mother in law tried to scare her off but Hana pulled out the uno reverse. Good. I hope we never see these characters again lol.. I respect how Hana puts Eunchong over her spineless bf..minor character, be gone! Her beating him with the flowers was iconic lmao
Looks like Seyoung going nuclear with the press is the event that links the four leads together. Can't blame her though, those guys at the bar were wilding out lol.
Sidenote, the girl playing Seyoung looks like the actress who plays Seran in the third marriage (who is ironically, also named Seyoung) on to episode 7....
If it's not the sisters it will be her or his mother, his mother already uses her as a maid and i can't see SangA…
10,000% Namjin's mother is going to like SangA better and try to brown nose her because SangA comes from money lol π I won't be surprised if she has a role in splitting up Namjin and Seonju at some point
It's crazy how there's three mothers in this drama (I don't count Woosang's mom she's comedic relief) and all three of them are so unlikeable in their own ways...
Watching Seonju's family try and fail to hustle money from the Jins is so annoying. I hope this subplot wraps up quickly lol
With Namjin telling Seonju he's out, and Sowoo wise to the affair, I have a strong feeling it affair will be exposed to Seonju by Friday.... or so I hope.
Can we talk about how Song Changeui's lips curled up with emotion as he saw the sd card footage? Good acting
Preview tomorrow shows Seonju in denial of the current situation, influenced by bad advice most likely given to her by one of her sisters. This will be fun I guess
I'm glad SangA called the police on the Clown Brigade because that's 100% what I would've done. Yes, they burned you with the insurance settlement but that behavior surely isn't going to make them change their minds
