Title Si Jin
It is a good drama (8.5/10 for me), but I think screenwriters didn't adapt yet to the 40 episodes limit. Sometimes there are so many characters that it is hard to understand their role in the story and the potentially interesting ones get lost in the middle of all things going on. The same applies when they add a conflict between two countries to an already complicated plot. I wish Royal Princess had more depth, she is not very convincing, and ChuChu, Du Er, Prince Qi and some others deserved a better character development. The war with Nanwu, as well as Nanwu people and the saintess story, were all left to our imagination...

Finally took some time to watch this. The bloodiest reverse harem I have ever seem. I understand that this drama is possibly about Chu Qiao / Jing Xiao Liu / Xing Er / A' Chu journey, but I didn't understand why she became so dumb in the Yanbei arc. Also missed the spy/assasin plot that made me hooked in the first part. In any case, I enjoyed this drama , mostly because of Xing Er- Yuwen Yue interactions. I miss this kind of bloody drama, portraying evil conspiracies, with amazing fighting scenes and subtle love story nowadays.

Watched until ep.7, does it get better? I am thinking of putting it on hold as it is much of the same, zero nuanced kind of Wuxia screenplay. I like the leads, although Weng Wei needs to mature a little more his expressions ;)

This is such a creative and fresh drama!! I loved the stories, the screenplay is flawless (perfect loop!!) and the cinematography, golden-hour lighting, camera move and bold/complementary colors, gives it a whimsical charm inviting us, the audience, into the HQ world. Good choice of actors, including the supporting ones that worked hard in each episode/story, and balance between thriller, fantasy and romance, with a doses of darkness, underscores the power of subtle visual cues in storytelling. Don't mind the scores, Back For You is such a vibe that you won't regret watching it!!!

Agree, the way they appear besides the white olive tree is very ethereal, like the illusion of the tree itself. I think it was a good choice taken by the director/screenplayer for leaving us the choice.

Someone said it here that in the novel his character is like this, always smiling no matter what he is felling inside. Maybe this is the reason it gives that fake impression.

Which series from other countries?
I think it is because in the last few decades China didn't go to war against any coutry, which is part of their current foreign policy. They prefer economic expansion through commerce/business activities than forced territory occupation and disruption. It is complicated in political terms to stage a drama in a "real" country like Palestine, Siria, Lebanon, Ukraine, Democratic Republic of Congo and many others where there are armed conflicts, since China is not involved in any of them. Although the actual impact is small, it could send a dangerous signal in an already delicate balance in the current international politics.

I also don't like fake countries, but so far in this drama the focus seems to be the war zone rather than a specific country and their culture. I like the critique of mercenaries' work, it is true they do it for money and are funded by countries that usually have nothing to do with the conflict in question.

I would prefer to wait until the end of the drama, but in my opinion (up to ep.14) this drama is building a critique on the psychological damages of extreme violence (specially when the death of inocent children are involved) while highlighting the importance of journalists' work in calling attention to the injustice of wars and genocide. Of course I am putting a side the romantic part.

In any case, I was expecting you to recomend dramas from other countries that have a better portray of PTSD and the traumas of war in your opinion :)

First time watching a drama with Wang An Yu as a ML and so far I am liking it. Camera work is pretty cool, it serves the HQ type of story they are telling.

I didn't expected to cry seeing this drama. Ep. 17 made me heartbroken, how could he hit Shou Hua and make her cry? She is such a great lady, beautiful and talented...The last scenes with his mother were also so so sad....I thought Yang Xi had understood that in Li's family problems are collectively solved. I feel there is more in his past to be unraveled.

Did Qimin ever love the princess?
No, he didn't. He was complacent because in the end he saw her good intentions.

Title Everlasting Longing Spoiler
Shao Min, Qi Min and Luo Qi are my favorite people in this drama. Although I was sad, it was reasonable that Qi Min died that way, as he stayed loyal and loved QinLuo until the end and despite all the spoiled princess did for him. Qing Kou and Moustache King were the worst. No problem in them playing the anticlimax role, but they should be less dumb or too flat characters. Zhi Zhou was a little waste of good actor...but in 30 episodes it would be difficult to develop his story arc anyway. In general it is an entertaining watch. If you are looking for a not very complicated conspiracy, fast paced and fire romance drama, this is it.
Song Wei Long can catch our attention as ML, but I hope he can get more complex characters in his future works :)

This girl is already getting on my last nerve 😬.
Let's hope she will mature after seeing the violence and horrors of war...otherwise it it will be indeed a waste of time :(
