If she meant romanticize toxic behavior such as kissing the female withouth her consent, or forcefull kissed her, then i agree with her. I found it creep when her brother kissed her while she is asleep. It wrongly set romantical vibe later on.

The way i see it, she bonding with them two as brother. In Go Ahead its way clearer, when she play with him or hug him, many ways she showed it through physical contact that she acknowledge Ling Xiao as older brother.

In Family by Choice the way they sit and interact on the bus is way different than friends or close neighboor.

And one important scene from Go Ahead that they didnt bring is when JianJian announced her first period, in og its clearly showed us she view them all as close family. Later on she even proudly showoff ing her new bra that her brother bought for her. Its one scene that clearly show us how JianJian see her brothers, but its absent from Family by Choice.

Well in Go Ahead, Hae-Jun character also called Ju-Won's dad as his own dad.

Difference experience made different perspective. Guess those peoples also dont like romantical plot between the sibling, and have anticipate it by deny that they are bonding as siblings rather than friend or close neighboor.

I also dont get it why they cant see it. In early episode it Ju-Won who stubbornly asked them all to legalized their family status. Since little kid Ju-Won acknowledge San-Ha as her older brother. She also bonding with Hae-Jun as sibling, but take longer time for him. Although from San-Ha point of view, he might think differently than Ju-Won.

The changing of San-Ha compared to Ling Xiao probably to smoothen their romantical plot later on. But still, Ju-Won since kid till teenage look San-Ha as her older brother.

i expected changing too, but your examples probably too far from the root. I can say my examples too, but for other peoples it might too far from the root too, haha. I hope they change romantical plot between sibling.

I didnt watch Little Women you mentioned, i watched, but just early episodes. I never have high hope for adaptation anyway, there will always changing that make us disastisfy.

I wonder what your daughters think of character like Na Hee-Doo from 25-21 or Jeong Nyeon, except them both rebelling against their mother but i like their fighting spirit as a teenager.

I got question related to webtoon version.
1. Do Jeong-Nyeon, and Yeong-Seo become friends? Many other show have rival-changed-to-friend plot.
2. Will Joo-Ran, and Jeong-Nyeon stay friend to each other? No betrayal plot?
3. Tv broadcast, and any characters related to it, do they have evil scheme behind all the kindness they gave to Jeong-Nyeon?
4. Jeong-Nyeon find a way back to Maeran or successfully build her career as TV singer?

Its hard to express it in english, overall, yes i prefer Go Ahead. It deliver emotional feelings better. But i like when in Family by Choice gave Ju-Won little backstory that she want an older brother, so when san-Ha arrived at their apartement complex, we can see why she is happy and sticky to San-Ha.

Pardon me asking, how old is your daughter? around the same age as teenage Ju-Won / JianJian? I mean does she can relate to this kind of show? This kind of show emotionally hit hit harder to adult than kids.

Some her works are underperformed, but she isnt underrated.

I think JeongYeon and YeongSeo both very talented in singing. JeongYeon probably more talented. JeongYeon is lacking in dance its rhytm i guess, while YeongSeo is lacking in acting. She isnt bad in acting, probably many students better than her.

The best of the og are around beginning to middle, im less interested around the middle when they have reunited. This remake feels faster in pace. I rewatched Go Ahead, eventho this remake is a goodshow, but for early episodes Go Ahead delivered more emotional feelings.

Overall, Family by Choice is still goodshow, still felt a fresh show, but its really hard not to compare with Go Ahead. Probably you will less enjoy it when you watch the remake with past feelings of Go Ahead.

But you got my point, 40 episodes format probably too long. As for now (Korean adaptation), it feels just too fast.

I guess we all can agree, that the best part of Go Ahead is family dynamics right? So if most of the plot is when theyre kid or teen probably its allright. As for Go Ahead there are probably around 10-12 episodes that cover their highschool time (iirc around ep12-14 they got separated then skip time till JianJian have graduated from Uni). Then about 20 episodes that cover their adult story, their adult story is too long, some of its involves JianJian's friends messy romantic stories, which i think unnecessary.

The Korean adaptation probably follow the same pattern. Around episode 8 or 10 we will see story around adult Ju-Won.

This story strength is in siblings dynamic and family relationship, many fans included me, want that part more. Their early adult phase is ofcourse necessary, its must be the closing chapter of their growth and journey.

Reply 1988 is 16 episodes, but its almost 2 hours long each episodes. Family by choice around 1 hour each, so i think with 16 episodes format they can extend duration of each episodes.

I agree with you, i like without the romance, i hate that the siblings develop romantical feelings.

I remember that, Li papa was so sad because grandma of Ling Xiao hit him, then aunt of Zu Qiu hit him too in front of Li papa. I remember most of their kid's scenes, but their adult plot feels dragged.

In Go Ahead, Ling Xiao stand froze when he see his mom abandon him, while in Family by Choice San-Ha trying to stop his mom. I cant say which one hit harder, but overall, the chinese one deliver emotional feelings better. They have time to show the siblings bonding, so when they separated, it hit me hard. I like to know how the Korean will deliver that part.

late 20 and around 30, the story is getting better.
Every characters developed, i mean not just 3 siblings, but also JianJian 2 best friend. And i also like character growth of JianJian herself.

Tbh i dont remember how JianJian started to like her brother romantically, i skip when its their scene. I started dont like it when Ling Xiao kissed his sister in a sleep, and later try to kiss her forcefully. Is she started to like him because the kiss?

I hate it too, just when JianJian's life is getting better (she have moved on, have her own life), her brother comeback and make her in miserable situation because of their mixed feeling. I mean Zi Qiu too.

They made a lot of shows each year, its normal if some is good, some is bad, some fresh, some just like another, and some are remake of others. There will be a year when many good shows were produced, and there will be year when the number of good shows decreased.

Family by Choice is among good shows, but probably you value Korean shows too high.

There will be moment when they are separated for 10 years, when they meet again they like stranger (or at least that Ju-Won feelings to her brothers). It kinda reset their feeling toward eachother. I do like their dynamics as sibling, and hate their romantical plot. But seems the showmaker will make it like that.

The og version made Ju-Won with San-Ha. While Hae-Joon have his own arc, its not romantic arc, more like family one. He also didnt end up with Park Dal. But i hope, i really hope the Korean showmaker make surprise change about it, and a better one of course. But if they dont, its fine, it still good show, a fresh remake with Korean touch.

the dynamics between the siblings and family is two best part, when it develop to romantical feelings its the part i hate, i will drop when it reach there. I've seen Go Ahead, so i've seen overall plot, no reason to finish Family by Choice.
