Oh, I know that. The writers in those scenarios always give the female lead (FL) a good excuse, while the male lead (ML), if he's in the same situation, gets the short end of the stick.
I call this "the female lead privilege." I wish we had more diversity among writers.

After watching 26 episodes, I realized that Sang Yan is NOT a main character, but a substitute for the one and only main character, Wen Yi Fan. Everything revolves around her!
Without the female lead, the male lead is superfluous. FL's story is enough to keep the whole drama going. He was created just for her. He has no depth, no character, no real traits, unrealistically perfect..

It's just childish, but unfortunately, the audience loves it. Obviously, if it's only one way... (FL --> another guy... God forbid ML would make her jealous too).
