Please stop glossing over the epidemic of suicide in Korea by referring to such a death as a "passing" and putting references to it behind spoiler tags.

Among the general population, Korea is the suicide capital of the developed world. It is far higher among celebs.

I define "bromance" as describing the relationship between two straight males who hold a deep, passionate, platonic affection for each other; whose individual attributes and flaws compliment those of the partner, who sacrifice, forgive, and encourage each other, and who join forces to achieve common goals neither could reach on their own.

I saw two or three HUGE plot holes that could have and should have been fixed, but loved the film nevertheless. If this were a serious dramatic film, the implausibles would have me dropping it, but the pluses outweighed them for me here.

I think maybe you overestimate the need for a tight adherence to reality in flicks like this, and underestimate the laziness, corruption, and fear of stepping out of line among police forces, whether in SK or the US.

I enjoyed the film immensely.

I am so, so sorry about Trump. I voted against him three times and am aghast every day at the nightmares he has unleashed. :(
Half of the US population is insane, but we've mostly had leaders who kept the super-crazies in check. Trump empowers them and feeds them raw meat. He brings out the worst in everybody, including me: I've never hated anyone so much in my life.

For once, a film/drama that deserves its high MDL rating.
For what it was written, directed, acted, and produced to be, this film is a 9.5/10.
I am not the target market for this sort of thing, and I have dropped a lot of similar flicks because they sucked. But Midnight Runners has all the necessary ingredients to make something like this work:

1. Great concept and writing (except for at least two HUGE plot holes that I feel could have been fixed easily; I'll never get how these things get by everybody involved and end up in the final cut, but it happens a lot). I laughed out loud, my mouth hung open at the physical action, and I was moved to tears several times.
2. Excellent, creative direction and fight choreo/execution.
3. Fully committed leads who are the best kind of actors, those with exceptional comedic AND dramatic chops, who are willing to do the physical work required.
4. Great casting: Powerful chemistry between two males in a non-gay/BL story is critical to the success of a buddy film like MR. Anyone who doesn't think this is a "bromance" doesn't understand the term, which is easily defined: a relationship between two straight males who share a deeply passionate, platonic affection for each other.
5. OK, fine, and the leads are both extremely handsome, but in strikingly different ways. And both are stunning with their shirts off, which doesn't happen nearly enough. :) I may have a poster-size printout made of Park Seo Joon in only loose sweat pants, working out with the punching bag.

Highly recommended.
One-half point off for the lack of at least one butt shot of these two in the shower scenes. I don't see how that is too much to ask.

Because Korea is f**king insane when it comes to entertainers/celebrities. They are expected to be perfect, and apparently, sitting in the same car with a drunk driver is too close to imperfection.
That's why so many Korean celebs kill themselves.

One of my fave silly, sweet, but not saccharine, little films.
The acting is great, so is the writing. I would like to have seen more that would show me why Bongshik liked Minho so much. Not that he wasn't likable, but that just happened so quickly.
Flick is far from perfect, but I still give it a 9/10 because it has a great big heart. I cried and laughed, which is nice.

It was refreshing/interesting to see a man with a little meat on him in a romantic role. I liked that.

It seems odd that a successful actor/celeb would take his own life over the actions of one stalker. There has to be a lot more to this story.

Korea does many things well. One of them is expressing great shock and sadness after each celeb suicide, and then forgetting about it and proceeding as if nothing happened...until the next time.

However, Korea has been experiencing frequent celebrity suicides for nearly 25 years now, and nothing has changed. It seems nothing will ever change.
