Episode 4:
It's not that XF is a ladyboy; I have no problem with that.
It's that he's a near-catatonic sourpuss, which makes LQ's supposed attraction to him seem absurd.
And STOP with the fucking soup already.

XF's mom is a total bitch to him when he calls home.
Fuck that shit, let her miss out on the coming wheat-rush.

He said "bro" nine times in a row.
I counted.

The dinner: Lord, how embarrassing.
I'm glad ZY gave our resident non-entity a good chewing out in the car.
Someone needed to.
I like how ZY has turned out to be a decent type.
When he was first introduced, I found him nasty.

Omg me too T.O.P was the only i continued this shiii....they tainted him
Don't you think this role was a wonderful catharsis for him, though?

Not only was he greatly buoyed by the offer of the part, for which I give huge credit to the director, which had to have helped him mentally and emotionally, but playing it, with all the hilarious over-the-top drug references, had to have helped him cast out those demons by mocking them.

It would have been so easy for the director to go with the flow of the hateful Korean tradition of canceling humans whose faults are made public (btw, it's NOT a fucking fault that he smoked fucking pot, for god's sake); instead, he chose to help a talented entertainer in need AND get the best actor for the role, T.O.P.! Who could have done that better? :)

I also like that T.O.P. and the director gave a huge middle finger to the Korean public, press, evil Knetz, and legal system, through that role.

BTW, do Koreans refer to T.O.P. by sounding out those three letters, or do they call him "top?"

Title My Summer of You Spoiler
omg...I'm so sorry that happened to you.In my own way I know what that might have been like for you.In college,…
lol
Thanks for the hearty laugh.
I appreciate the commiseration and wishes for butt problems on the ex, too. :)

You know, by the close of Spring semester, with the help of three good friends (who had no idea about our relationship) who I hung out with a lot, I had gotten to a place of contempt and mild hatred, which as negative as that sounds, was, I think, a necessary stage to go through.
I had a great Summer and by the time I returned in the Fall (he was still on campus), I felt only mild contempt for him and a healthy feeling that he was irrelevant to my life and glad he was out of it.

After that, he quickly fell off my map.
The three friends I hung with continued to be my salvation, though they still don't know it (unless they do and kept that knowledge to themselves).
I had loads of fun with them that year.
With the butt crack guy, I had codependently placed myself in a prison where I wasn't really myself, anyway.

BTW, thanks for the sentiment, but he is far too uptight to ever have given up the booty to anyone. :)

IKR! I was thinking the same thing. However, it really doesn't matter to me if they are fem/masc just as long…
I dropped it a couple of episodes In.
I guess I couldn't go Deep.

The melodramatic overacting of Chinese dubbing voice actors drives me nuts, which makes it nigh impossible for me to keep going unless something about the story or actors themselves sucks me in.
In Double Helix, Ayden Sng is the reason I stuck with and finished it.
He was great, but it also makes me crazy that I don't get to hear the voices of the actors recorded in real time with the visual.
I'm sure that frustrates the hell out of the actors, too.

He have but not shown yet. It's the one who got beat in episode 2/3 by Luqin & ziyang, that's his friend.…
I was joking. :)
As in, "where did you come from and pop into this conversation?"

Popping in is totally cool, though. :)

I feel you.
I wondered if it was an inside joke when Lu Qing and his friend told Xiao Fan to "Grow a spine." lol

I agree that I don't necessarily mind a fem bottom character.
The problem is that they ALL seem to be this way in Cbls, and that the characterizations are built on tired stereotypes and cliches.
XF even speaks with a weak, breathy whisper...I wanted to smack him a few times and yell, "Snap out of it, bitch! :D

I'm still waiting for a BL from any country to switch things up and have a couple establish a bottom/top relationship, but then have the top generously offer to give up the booty just for the sake of giving his little man the pleasure...and discover that he LIKES it. :)
This would be insanely hot

It's just old that you can tell on first sight who will be schtupping who...absolutely no creativity/imagination in that regard.

I think To My Shore is probably the only power bottom CBL we have
Are the last two names from third and fourth shows?
Thanks for the recs.
I will check them out.

Episodes 1-3:
"Lu Fan, grow a spine, will you?"
THANK YOU.
I've been thinking those very words since ten minutes into episode 1.

What is it with these willowy, breathless, uber-feminine Chinese bottoms?
This is like watching Double Helix all over again.
Can anyone recommend Chinese BLs with masculine bottoms, or are they all this way.

You seem lost and don't understand the story. Maybe you're skipping too many parts. It's simple: he withdrew for…
It is written in the 10 Commandments of BL that when you want to protect your beloved from harm by leaving, you MUST inflict the maximum trauma by not telling them what's going on and simply vanish.

Episode 2:
No, no, no, boys...it's much too early for that.
Driving in neutral for a whole year, then lurching to 100 miles per hour overnight is a recipe for disaster.

Episode 1:
The idea that two young gay men, or a straight couple for that matter, would date for an entire year without so much as a kiss is absurd.
Unless both are asexual, I suppose, but that's unlikely.

Have the MDL scolds shown up here yet to freak out over the age gap?

Episode 3:
When episodes are being released weekly, ones in which not all that much happens are frustrating.
I know some important developments took place, but nothing exciting.
If I could go on immediately to 4 I wouldn't mind.
I know...I can choose to binge.

Handsome brother coming up in 4.

What do you hate about it?
Take as long as you need.
I'm just glad you responded.
It's a melancholy flick, that's for sure, and no one comes out unscathed.
But I like that the ending is open, and I can surely imagine Wataru showing up again.

After all, he's somewhat of a masochist.
He knew the mess he was getting into from the start, and just kept relentlessly pursuing Kiyochi.
By film's end, I had decided both were massively messed up in the head and no way would this work without major therapy for both, too.

Overall, I like this flick a lot.
Angst, suffering, cheating, deception, all those juicy things and more, are my fave movie behaviors. :)
Of course, as with anything else, the key is HOW the story is told.
Because, as the old saying goes, nothing is original and every story has already been told.

because of limited budget that's why the story is summarized and compressed. by reading the novel, i get to understand…
I'm sorry.
You're right; I am hotheaded, and I apologize.

That said, I see comments like that all the time on MDL.
People will write, "Here's what's going to happen next. I know because I read the Manhwa" or whatever.
Drives me nuts. :P

There was a commenters' cult on the page of BL "KinnPorsche" that traumatized me.
They were led by their queen, some b***h named "Mimi" something. She would go on and on about how this that and the other thing were going to happen because she'd read the novel.
Her minions would swarm around her in comments, eating up every word, but then most of the stuff she predicted did not come to pass.
I pointed this out to her, she and I went at it, then she blocked me.
lol
