Can you recommend more political themed movies? The King is the only political themed movie I've watched.
Sure. I'll get back to you later.

With that profile picture? You really shouldn't talk about something being a piece of shit, that's simply ironic.…
I love that you stalked my profile and noticed Seungri.
Even more so, I'm glad his image annoyed you. I put him there to annoy people like you.
Even MORE so, I'm happy you just revealed yourself to be a typical netizen-type who knows little about the true facts of the "scandals" used to destroy Korean entertainers. Did you know rumors and accusations are not FACTS?
Did you know Seungri was never even CHARGED with many of the things he is still accused of having done, even now, years later? Or is it that you know, but your thirst for celebrity blood causes you to not care?
Did you know he denied the most serious crimes to the end, and only agreed to pretend he was guilty as part of a plea deal that cut his prison sentence in half?

Did you know he has been out of prison and back to living a full life for a while now, and doesn't give a s**t what you think about it? I don't either.

Thanks so much for this beautifully-written and well-thought-out reply. You gave me things to think about. Benjamin is a remarkable actor.

Germany! Yay! I am American by birth, but German by blood and heritage from both sides of the family. I wondered if you might be German, given your screen name. :)

Yes, JT is definitely "about to burst." :D

Oh, I just made that up. To anyone with a sense of humor, my remark was pretty clearly written tongue-in-cheek. I don't care how it sits with you.

Giving a show a low rating because of bias towards an actor's actions in their personal life is one of the strangest…
"I am afraid that it is better to shorten the description of suicide, as this may be perceived as expanding information about methods of suicide. "

I don't know if you're Korean, but this statement could have been written by one. It reflects the very Korean attitude that the less we talk openly about a problem, the better. Of course, the opposite is true.

For nine months, the method by which LSK took his life has been all over the news and social media. Google "suicide methods in Korea" and you will get hundreds of hits mentioning the burning of charcoal briquets to release carbon monoxide. My comment on MDL won't be one of them.

No one in Korea is going to learn of that method of suicide from my comment. They already know. If by some miracle, they don't, they too will google and find what they're looking for. Telling me to STFU about the facts of suicide in Korea is not going to prevent one, single death. Again, the opposite is true.

For years, many Korean media outlets have referred to suicide by the euphemism "an extreme choice." lol Guess what? The suicide rate continues to rise.

I agree with every other word of your comment. I'm glad you researched LSK's death. Not only was there no evidence of the alleged drug use, he had passed THREE different tests of hair samples conclusively proving he had ingested NO drugs for at least THREE MONTHS. Didn't make a lick of difference. The mob just turned to new and different methods of destruction. It is all quite ghastly.

His accuser and blackmailer was a bar hostess with a record of similar behavior a mile long. Nevertheless, the police pursued LSK as though HE was the one who had a credibility problem.

One of the most insane aspects of the Korean drug hysteria, which includes the harmless recreational drug Marijuana, is that Korea has the highest rate of alcoholism in the world. Booze costs Korea's economy/society tens of billions of $$$ every years. Yet every night the alleyways of Gangnam are filled with vomiting booze-bingers and it's not seen as a problem. Nutso City.

Google the ordeal of young Korean actor Yoo Ah In, who has been undergoing slow public crucifixion in Korea for the last 18 months over drug use. It was the same sort of shit show as took LSK from us, and I am amazed we have not lost Yoo to suicide also. He was recently sentenced to A YEAR in prison for Propofol use ADMINISTERED IN A HOSPITAL SETTING BY LICENSED PHYSICIANS.

I hope when he gets out he flees to America as soon as possible. Yoo is well-known and popular here, mainly through his movies and series on Netflix. Lots of cancel culture here too, but generally not over addiction, and not to the vehemently insane levels it has reached in Korea. Addicts get sentenced to treatment, probation, and community service here, not prison, unless as is the case with Robert Downey Jr., his second, third, and fourth chances got used up and prison was the only remaining course.

And of course, RDJ has been clean for many years and has two Oscars now. :)

Giving a show a low rating because of bias towards an actor's actions in their personal life is one of the strangest…
Not at all, until after Lee Sun Kyun killed himself late last December.

He was such a huge star, a great talent, and beloved by many. A couple weeks after his suicide the director of the Academy Award-winning film Parasite, in which LSK was so stellar, brought together some fellow powerful people in the Korean entertainment industry, held a news conference and demanded accountability from the police, who had illegally leaked details of the investigation to the press; the yellow tabloid press, who reprint accusations and rumors as if they are facts, and who illegally pay cops to leak information; and the legal system which allows such things as questioning subjects of investigations for as long as 19 uninterrupted hours.

LSK left just such an overnight grilling, went home long enough to leave a suicide note for his wife, drove to a park and lit up some charcoal in his car. Within minutes he was dead.

Suicide by carbon monoxide via charcoal briquets in an enclosed space is a very popular means of suicide in Korea, which has the highest suicide rate in the developed world. That, and hanging.

Most of my favorite actors are korean. Most of my favorite films are Korean. But that society is so sick with the concepts of shame, "saving face," anti-drug hysteria (never mind Korea has the highest rate of alcoholism in the world too), stigma surrounding mental health, and an overall unwillingness to speak openly about anything less than happy talk, that celebrities and influencers are afraid to say anything for fear they will be next.

The director of Parasite was able to pull off what he did only because he has been so wildly successful and is world-famous that he is somewhat immune to attacks from the psycho netizens.

Did you want me to reply to THIS first copy of your question, or the two other identical ones below, NeverReallyThereAnymore?
Are you so beside yourself with busy-body rage that you didn't notice you've posted your reply three times?
Take a time out and pop a Xanax maybe?

Vomited out like a true, self-righteous netizen. Well done!

I'm not at all ignorant about this situation, NeverRealAnymore. I know the public details of the affair. I'm just not mentally/emotionally unbalanced enough to think it's any of my business. Is YOUR pivate life my business? I ask because how do I know you're not currently f**king three or four married men?

I have a few questions for you:
What made you react so strongly to my reply to you? Did I touch some nerves? Maybe you helped kill LSK and feel guilty?
How am I a "white knight?" This young woman has no idea who I am or what I write, and never will. Is there something you feel she needs saving from? People like you, perhaps?
Can you please explain in detail why you feel she owes YOU a personal apology?
If she has privately apologized to people directly affected by her actions, and those of her married lover, would you have any way of knowing about it?
You wrote above that she apologized today. Why are you still wetting yourself then?
Could one reason for your loose-canon, nutjob, netizen screeching be that she regularly has been landing roles for the last three years, with more on the horizon?
Does her daring to go on with her life leave you frustrated that she hasn't killed herself?

Are you Korean? I'd guess so.
As an American, I'm pleased to see that Netflix is giving less and less of a shit about what you hateful, self-righteous, judgemental, rumor-mongering Internet weirdos in Asia think about its actors' private lives.

Giving a show a low rating because of bias towards an actor's actions in their personal life is one of the strangest…
This is the type of BS common here on MDL, one of the strangest web sites I've ever been a member of.

There are roving groups of what I call "Little Girl Netizens" who down-rate and up-rate series and movies to artificially deflate or inflate the overall score according to their biases.

Insane "netizens" all over Asia, but especially in Korea, make a sport of this behavior, often in pursuit of punishing an actor/director/producer who has been declared below their standards of behavior and thus must be destroyed, often quite literally. This is the conduct that has killed dozens of Korean actors/performers by suicide over the last 25 years.

The netizens are vicious, hateful, unconcerned with little things like rumors not counting as facts, and will fucking destroy anyone they've set their sights on. The most recent huge kill they got was the great, world-reknowned Korean actor Lee Sun Kyun, who took his own life nine months ago after months of relentless persecution at the hands of the Korean netizens, police, media, courts, and public.

It is disgraceful, criminal, and I see no end in sight.

You're full of s**t.
No one asked for the MLs to "...stick their tongues in each other's throats IMMEDIATELY..." and you know it. Does ten hours sound like "immediately" to you?
You prudes are beyond bogus. You seem to think the choices are explicit porno or no kissing. There are areas in between...yes, really.
This show has now been "slow-burning" for TEN HOURS.
Think about that...many excellent feature films pull off hot slow-burns to a resolution good or bad in TWO HOURS or less.
There are no BLs with "action." It's all simulated and usually badly in the ones from Thailand. Did you know they aren't really f**king?
Did you know there are thousands of porn sites to go to if what we're after is "action?"
Why does kissing scare you?
