Finale: What an anticlimactic, confusing, chaste, and dull way to cap off what was a fairly good BL to this point. The mannequin kiss on the bridge at the end was the last nail in the coffin for me.
First, we get Kanata kinda/sorta/but not really confessing to Akira with that roundabout, cop-out spiel about something or other... it def was not a confession, more like a confirmation of being super, really, extra-special, pinky-finger promise best friends. Then we got a period of oh, wer'e in love but totally not dating. Then, we got a fake rumor that Kanata was leaving school, so that Akira could enact an ancient, dusty BL trope, the frantic run across the city. All so that when he caught up to Kanata (no indication how he knew where he was), we could witness one of the least affecting mutual confession scenes in BL history, topped off with that dead-fish mannequin kiss I mentioned above.
I wish Akira and Tutor had run off together, leaving Kanata wondering what the hell just happened. At least that would be interesting and exciting, and it would upset the MDL Church Girl-Sex Police crowd.
Ugh. By halfway thru, I thought this show might be headed for my top 30 fave BLs list. It's getting nowhere near that honor, now. :) Rather, it goes on the pile of JBLs that go strangely distant and chaste with the love story at their core. This usually happens in the last quarter of the series. I'm usually caught off-guard because I will have been really into the show up to then, as I was in this case.
OK, so, well, this gets a 6.5 from me, which is like a D+. Not recommended, unless you're desperate for BL content and can't find anything else.
