Here's what I think: You encountered a word, "molestation," that set off a firecracker in your brain and you think it has to be censored. You don't know exactly WHY it should be censored, just that it should be because it "triggered" you to have a feeling and you think no one should be able to cause you to have a thought that is uncomfortable to you. You have ZERO awareness of the concept of CONTEXT. A 19-year-old cannot "molest" an 18-year-old.

What, exactly, freaked you out and caused you to lose your mind, begging other people to "report" me to the authorities even though they would already have done so if they thought some rule was violated.

Talent agencies put out so many lies and bullshit and statements written by their PR departments for an actor to pretend to say, that it's astonishing anyone would take such statements on face value.

That is the sorrowful thing about shame and face-saving-based societies like Korea and Japan: A celebrity suffering in silence can't tell anyone or discuss it with anyone because they are terrified it will be leaked to the press, or they are just too embarrassed to be having mental health issues in the first place. People HATE to discuss their emotions and mental health in Korea.

I'd ask that you not throw around that word "WE" quite so loosely. Most people do not pile on like ravenous vampires eager to destroy anyone with talent and grace who dares to be human. I certainly do not do that; I make a point of NOT doing it.

The monsters, mostly anonymous, asshole "netizens" online, are a specific group of people who have far more power with their vicious hate/jealousy than their numbers justify, who do the vile work of character assassination, with total disregard for facts. RUMOR is their life blood. I hate and despise them.

I don't know what Korea needs to do to get a handle on this appalling problem, but I wish much more would be done than currently is. Most importantly, I think its culture must free itself from this fetish/obsession with SHAME, so that people put in a harsh spotlight do not respond by feeling that the existence of even one hundred percent false allegations is somehow their fault and that everyone is looking down on them and there family, thus the only honorable way out is death.

From the U.S., and as a huge fan of Korean cinema and some of its music, the view of some of my favorite actors appearing at funeral after funeral after funeral, is horrific. I am intensely worried about Yoo Ah In, who has been in the Netizen target sites for months, taking this path. God, I hope not. He is such a gifted actor.
