A lot of potentially gripping ideas and some excellent acting from the young leads, unfortunately, all gone to waste as a result of weak direction, some sloppy writing, and shallow/nonexistent character development.

some people might get me, some wont, but im telling you for me its so irritating when chinese dramas have dub,…
Dubbing is the WORST.
Nothing pulls me out of a story like obnoxious, over-the-top melodramatic voice actors, frustrated that they can't be on-screen, trying to steal the show from the live actors with their histrionics. :)
It would be funny if it weren't so gross.

And they usually sound as if they were recorded in an echo chamber for added, unnecessary dramatic effect. This is extra-extra stupid when the characters are outdoors. lol
Lord.

I recently somehow made it through all of Double Helix, but the dubbing kept me at arm's length the whole time.
That, and the terrible acting of the little bottom actor.

"Finally, while the issues the side story involving the documentary director's struggle with sexism and male…
Wow.
I hadn't considered that there are just TWO episodes left.
This could be a major train wreck.
At this point, I don't see how the script believably brings these two back together in two 25-minute episodes. Too much blood under the bridge, so to speak.
Perhaps we'll see a show that doesn't try to do that, and is content with a credible, less-than-happy open-ish ending.
Which happens all the time in IRL.

I agree; I think it's just because we are literally seeing Ryo being so sad that we might see Futami as annoying.…
Agree.

I can't find fujoshisan's comment, else I might agree with you. :)

You are not wrong. Excellent observation.
Speaking of Futami, earlier on, and even up to when Zen said "Ryo is my boyfriend," I thought perhaps he had already figured out that Zen/Ryo had a thing for each other, but wasn't quite sure.
I thought maybe he was maybe trying to help them admit it to each other.
I was wrong, but still, he indirectly pushed Zen into making that admission. :D

I feel like I need to rewatch from Ep1 to understand what is happening. I'm very confused 🤣😅
That's what I plan to do as soon as they make ep4 free and I finish it.
I only half-know what's going on, but I like the evilness of the little brother; that's pretty easy to spot. :)

Episode 9:
Yes, I cried...so what? Sue me.
Both of these guys are excellent actors.
Ryo standing, looking at Zen at the apartment railing after you-know-what, with tears in his eyes, broke me.

Early scene:
Ryo: "I love you, I miss you, I need you."
Zen: "See? You never tell me that you love me, miss me, or need me, dammit! I don't know if this relationship can continue."
omg, lol, who wrote this?
Where is the director?

Zen was correct that much earlier on, his point was correct, but for at least two episodes, Ryo had been making his love, need, and desire for Zen's presence abundantly clear.
The last part of ep8 and the first part of ep9 were poorly written.
Also, where the hell did that melodramatic, orchestral Kdrama music come from? :P

Zen to Futami: "Ryo is...my boyfriend!"
OK, fine, that and everything that came after in this episode was worth the bad writing that gave us the manufactured crisis. I damn near squealed, and I'm old.

This and a few other recent Jbls, are going to make it hard for any future Jbls to go back to dead fish kisses and mannequin hugs. Good riddance to those.

It is just Zen, or have both of them been wearing the same damn suit the entire series?

I don’t understand — why did Zen think that Ryo doesn’t need him/depend on him? Can someone explain?
This episode 9 features some sloppy bad writing.
You're right that the way it was presented, it makes no sense for Zen to say that.
Ryo spent half of ep 8 and the beginning of ep. 9 telling Zen how much he loves, needs, and depends on his attention, to which Zen replied, in effect, "See? You don't love, need, or depend on me!" lol
