Copied storyline with a weird ending and way too much blood

I watched this, because everyone keeeps talking about this series.
Postitive points: Very good production, high quality. The actors gave a great performance. Really can't say anything bad about that!
Negative points: The whole story is just.... well it reminds me a lot of Alice in Borderland. Expect that Alice in Borderland was a lot better in my opinion. The ending of Squid game is kinda predictable and not satisfying at all. There isn't really a happy ending for anyone.
Tbh i don't get the hype. There are way better Korean/ Asian series out there. Still, I think it's cool that people start recognizing Korean / Asian series/ movies more :)
If you like blood, gore and mind f*ck this series is for you, if you don't, better watch something else.

Different from other the typical K-drama with a realistic storyline

I heard a lot of bad comments about this drama that's why i didn't feel like watching it for a long time. But because of the cast i finally decided to give it a try and oh boy i am glad i did. This drama is great!
Many people say Park Jae-Eon is a walking red flag and yes he IS, but in my opinion we see a lot of character development for the male and also the female lead. He learns to become a better person through her. While Yu Na Bi learns to become a stronger person through him.
Don't wanna spoil, just go and watch it!

Great story that builds up well but is sadly kinda rushed in the end

All in all i really liked this drama.
The story is very interesting, builts up very well and makes you wanna watch "just one more episode".
The female lead is very smart and quick witted. She isn't dramatic, acting stupid or annoying as female leads are (sadly) often presented in other dramas.
Also there is no unnecessary break-off drama between the male an female lead, which i really appreciate. Their love is pure and real, you can really feel it while watching the drama.
Amazing cast, everyone did a great job, especially the main leads.
Special Effects are, in comparison, not that bad. Some do look quite unrealistic, but that's expected from a classical Chinese drama with not the highest budget. Definitely better than in, for example, The Untamed tho.

What's kinda sad is, that the drama is quite rushed in the end. It suddenly skips multiple years, ignores the intense build up of the whole drama and rushes to resolve the main plot in the last episode. In my opinion the ending doesn't really make sense and kinda ruins the whole drama ngl.

So all in all, yes i liked it, except for the ending. I would recommend you to watch it if you're interested in classical Chinese drama about kings and queens and a sweet love story with two intelligent main characters.
I most likely wouldn't watch it again, but i still enjoyed watching it for the first time :)

Just nah...

The story made no sense.
The love story was whack. Zero chemistry between the two actors. Not because of their acting, just because of the story itself. Suddenly they were a couple or smth and idk how that happend? There was just nothing that deserves to be called a love story. It's so confusing.
Also the end was pretty questionable. Everything about it tbh.
I definetly won't watch this again, I'm sorry. It could have been a great BL drama, but there was just a lot of story missing for it to be called good in my opinion.

Absolutely my favorite drama of all time!

I'm finally writing this review.
I LOVED THIS DRAMA! The Untamed is literally the most beautiful series I ever watched in my life.

The cast is 10/10. All the actors are super handsome and talented and fit their characters extremly well.
The scenery is also extremly beautiful. The different places like the residence of the Jiang Sect, the Gusu Lan Sect or the Jin Sect are all designed very individually. The same applied to the costumes.

The story is quite different from the novel at some points. Therefore the story of the Yin Iron was originally not in the novel. But it really added to the story and gave some charcters more room for character development, which is great!
The love story between Wei Ying and Lan Zhan is naturally not presented in the same way as in the novel, because of the Chinese censorship. But don't worry! Actually the only thing not included are the intimate scenes. In my opinion it's still a love story, it is just shown in a different way and nobody directly says it out loud.
The story itself is an emotional rollercoaster. It's touching, it's funny, it's heartbreaking. I don't really have words to describe just how beautiful and deep this story actually is.....

The Soundtracks really fits. You will absolutly fall in love with it. Especially the Main Track "Wu Ji" which Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, the actors of the main characters, sung will stuck in your head for days!

The only point one could criticize are the special effects. Some are totally fine, but some look a little bit cheap and too unreal. Even tho that's the case, it really doesn't matter too much and I would totally rewatch this drama 100 times.

So all in all (I could probably write 20 pages more about just how much i love this drama and why, but you get the idea) I TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT! If you like it you should also watch the Donghua, read the novel and/ or read the Manhua.
Much love <3

this drama is my happy place, it's so beautiful <3

So, this is the first e-sport drama I watched. I expected it to be good since Wang Yibo is in the main roll, but IT TOTALLY EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATION!!! I've watched really a lot of dramas, but i never experienced SO MANY EMOTIONS while watching a series! The whole story about the them playing in competions with the goal to become the world champion is really trilling and i deeply felt it!

Story:
Tbh in the first few episodes I wasn't really that confinced of the story, but after i got into I feel in love with this drama! The story has many ups and downs and there is indeed some drama and misunderstandings, but nothing that goes on for many episodes, so it's good to watch! We definitly see A LOT of character development for basically all important characters! Not only the main characters but basically for every supporting character as well! Because of that i could really get into the story and feel it deeply!

Acting/Cast:
Wang Yibo is perfect for the role of the male lead. He's very good at micro expressions which helps him to portray Ji Xiangkong in a very realistic way. I feel like Ji Xiangkong and Wang Yibo are very similar in many points, so there couldn't possibily be a better choice of actor!
Wang Zi Xuan also did a great job as the female lead! I actually really like the female lead in this drama because she's not stupid or foolish. She is very hard working and depends only on herself to be successful. She cares about others a lot and tries to be the best not only for herself but also for the people she loves.

Music:
The OST is beautiful and i just love it! Especially listing to the main theme "Burning adventures" by Wang Yibo makes me feel so happy!

Rewatch value:
I officially state this drama as my happy place and i would definitly rewatch it, especially when I feel down, since this drama just makes me smile so brightly!

Overall suggestion: Obviously 10/10! You totally won't regret it!

shallow story with a good cast

Okay, so i decided to watch this movie because Xiao Zhan is playing the main roll. And he plays it great!
The story is pretty shallow tho, a lot of unanswered questions are remaining in the end and the whole thing doesn't really make sense tbh. What I like about it is that Xiao Zhan is playing no hero or someone who is just naturally super talented. He's just a normal dude who happens to be caught up in this whole mess. It's no typical "the good people win and all the demons die" story, rather the opposite and that's just way more interesting in my opinion!

The cast is nice, beside Xiao Zhan we also see Li Qin, who plays the main roll in many other famous dramas!
Music is great, really can't say anything bad about it!
Visual FXs are uhm yeah really bad, but I didn't expect them to be good in the first place since this is clearly a low budget movie, so it's okay.

All in all Xiao Zhan really carries the whole movie and he looks pretty damn cool in it, especially in the end. I think it was kinda worth watching just for that lol. It's also quite funny, so i don't regret watching it :)

This review may contain spoilers

I hate this drama! Don't watch it, you will develope anger issues.

Let's be frank, we all watched it for Taehyung. Sadly he has no happy ending which kinda broke my heart. But that's not the reason I dislike this drama so much.
First of all, the male lead was super annoying. He always stole the show of the king and made himself so important. I liked the king so much more, he deserved so much better ...
Secondly, the female lead... Do we even have to talk about her? Her character was so fcking shallow, i don't get why the male lead and the king both liked her. She cried almost every episode and had absolutly no character development.
Last but not least, the love story??? Of "brother" and "sister"? WTF? So weird and absolutly not enjoyable to watch.

All the supporting characters were great, just the male and female lead and their love story were absolutly not it.
Therefore I don't recommend this show AT ALL.

what a journey!

I like this drama, but at the same time i've never been so aggressiv while watching a drama before lol let me explain why:

First of all, I love the male lead. Fu Shiqi delievers an amazing performance as an actor. Yu Sifeng is a great character. He has a lot of character development throughout the series and is the only person i this drama that i really liked. Sifeng goes through a lot of hardships im life, experiences many diappointments, but he never gives up on his loved one. Truely admirable.
The female lead is quite annoying sometimes tbh. She does have a major charcter development tho. So I started to like her more and more throughout the series. She's a hardworking person who's constantatnly failing in cultivation despite her effort. She has a hard time understanding emotions of other since she leaks her six senses since birth. With Sifeng she goes on a journy, trying to find her 6 senses.
I have quite opposite opinions about the supporting chacacters. There are some that I just adore, for example Teng She (Lord Flying Snake)! But there are also quite a lot of chacacters I really can't stand, the are just soooo annnoying! I don't wanna spoil the plot, so I won't say who. I kinda miss the character development for the supporting characters, the mostly just stay the same throught the whole show. So only the main chacacters really shine.

Okay, now some words to the production. I would say it's nothing out of ordinary. Pretty costums, scenerys aren't that special. Visual FX are kinda bad, but it's okay to watch. It's pretty much like in the most low budget cultivation dramas.
Music is good, the have some really pretty songs in this series :)

I can recommend this series! It might cost u some nerves from time to time, but there are some interesting plot twists and the love story isn't every other love story, I would say it's quite special. So it's definetly worth it to watch the series for that! :)

a pure waste of time

okay, so i watched this quite some time ago and i even finished it, even tho it was pretty bad. I did notreally like the female lead, she was just not a sympathic person! The same goes for the male lead. I know that Lee Min Ho is a pretty popular actor, but just don't like him. Especially not in this show bc the charcter he portrays is just a total jerk with barly any charcter development.
I really liked the second male lead, cuz he was just very very nice, but of course she did not end up with him, what was predictibale, but it still pissed me off, cuz i just hated the main lead....
The side couple was quite cute tho, so that's maybe one of the few good points of the drama.
I started watching the Chinese adaptation called Meteor Garden and so far i like it WAYYY more than Boys over Flowers. I also herad that the Japanese version is quite nice. Better go watch one of these versions.
So I really do not recommend watching the Korean version. Rewatch value is definitly 0 for me.
