Such a brilliant list!!! I'm always looking for male yandere dramas & films so this list is a truly blessing. Thank you so much! I also recommend checking out some films & older dramas (the ones that i've heard of are secret, a sleeping forest and what happened in bali) so you can check these out too. Will be looking forward to your reviews.
Both yandere characters kota and ran are really good actors, especially kota when he went psycho n scary. Drama…
I know this comment is like 3 years old so idk if you will reply to this but i wanted to ask are there any other male yandere drama/movies that you recommend? I had fun with this one
I swear some kdrama fans nowadays only want characters that they can place into boxes of "red flag" "green flag". FL is a great morally grey character and I'm really enjoying her character and the dynamic she has with the family. It's honestly refreshing. My only criticism so far is the way they're handling the weight gain storyline of the sister. I know the korean industry detests any person or character that's even slightly outside of their so called beauty standards but sheesh they could've done better.
Idk how i feel about this first episode...the guy playing ritsuko is just horribly casted. It's obvious that his character is a man crossdressing as a woman when ristuko (or yul) in the webtoon got away with crossdressing for so long because he had feminine features since birth. I think someone like itagaki rihito would've made an amazing ritsuko since he's quite androgynous. Also adding a rape plot point?
I'm not one to say a movie or a series needs to have a purpose to be made or a lesson to teach, but I do think…
There is no rape in the webtoon at all, the drama added it on its own. The webtoon was very clearly aimed at a specific niche audience of people who like yandere male leads. The transphobia allegations don't make sense though because ritsuko never claims to be trans and crossdressing straight man is already a popular trope in Japanese media.
I super agree. Like we need this.. There aren't many forbidden dark romances like this fr!!
Yeah. Jdramas always have that one drama every season that's super problematic lol do you have any noona romance recs that are like that? The only one i know are chugakusei nikki & shijukara
It doesn't have to be romantic but man would it be fun if eunwoo and kim nam joo's character would have that dark sexual tension kinda vibe. It's been so long since we've had a kdrama that's melo & problematic in the best possible way. Also it would be a really interesting role for eunwoo. But with how sanitized kdramas are right now i doubt that's the route they're going to go here.
I agree that the FL doesn't need to Ike the ML but it doesn't mean she should be rude to him. And that's why her…
You just admitted to the bias i was pointing out lol. You expected the female lead to be this perfect girlboss but the ml can be rude or immature. As soon as she displayed real flaws people got mad.
ML's money, it's his choice to spend it the way he wants.he is not stealing from some one and spending it.FL can…
No she shouldn't. Why should she? once again if he wasn't so rich and powerful the media wouldn't even care that he was wrongfully accused at the start or caught the criminal. You people worship male characters for the bare minimum without understanding what the writers are trying to comvey. It's all because he's rich that the issue became so big

I think it's justified. Ever heard of the trope enemies to lovers? This is just a milder version of it but when you dislike someone you tend to be rude to them. Kdrama fans are definitely biased towards male characters because his character is way more flawed yet the FL is a little rude and everyone starts hating on her
I never understand why people want to teach someone how to spend their own money. He's not harming anyone. Infact…
That's the thing you know. It's not his own money it's his father. That's what the show is going to work on, the ML is a silver spoon who thinks everything is owed to him because he's rich. But that will change by the end of the show
ML's money, it's his choice to spend it the way he wants.he is not stealing from some one and spending it.FL can…
He didn't even earn that money lol it's all because of his FATHER. He's the flawed character & obviously the one that will go though a bigger character development. So what if the FL is a little rude?? He's a spoiled guy who's being pampered by everyone because of his father's money & status. Sheesh y'all really baby male characters.
Shocked at how immature some of the people in the comment section are. The FL is the bad guy? Really?? Not the childish ML who thinks everything is a joke and uses his money to play cops and robbers like it's a game & now is a cop because of his status?
I think FL isn't really that wrong for hating rich people. Do you guys have any idea how huge the disparity between rich and poor is in most countries? And specially in countries like SK where the elite are in a different league all together. the higher ups ordered the FL to release him as soon as they heard his name. I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened and this has made her resent the uber rich. I know the media (specially romance one) has a very rose tinted representation of rich people but in reality most of them are not good people and I'm actually glad we have a cynical FL who's not impressed by him easily. Let her and the MLs character grow.
They are good actors and actresses, you don't know them?
Yes they are! I don't disagree with that at all. But i think when it comes to adaptations it is important to cast actors that match the "image" of those characters. Specially for a series as popular as this
Very weird casting. I feel like kdrama creatives don't care about the best actor for a webtoon adaptation anymore but the most "popular" . Apparently orv is getting an anime soon too and i've seen more hype by the novel/webtoon readers for the anime than the live action.
Would it kill kdrama writers to follow the plot and characteristics of the webtoon they're adapting?? Why do they always try to adapt a proper "dark" historical romance webtoon but strip it of all it's best parts? Now they try to make everything fluffy & extra romantic. This would've easily been a more popular drama if they properly adapted the webtoon
The webtoon was very clearly aimed at a specific niche audience of people who like yandere male leads. The transphobia allegations don't make sense though because ritsuko never claims to be trans and crossdressing straight man is already a popular trope in Japanese media.
