I saw this won drama of the year award but I haven't heard about it at all. Is it even worth watching?
what's popular in korea in most times veryy different from what international fans or mdl users like so you should always try to find new stuff. Trust me i found so many good shows after i stopped watching only the popular ones
was really excited to watch this because the tension filled enemies to lovers & obsessive love kind of romance is just my type but unfortunately 3 episodes in and this feels like one of those dramas where the guy is already obsessed/in love with the FL from the start instead of the audience seeing his obsession/ love actually grow from 0 to 10 & that's not something i personally like so can someone confirm this?
hyunmin and lee jiyoung's ending was lowkey perfect. one person dying and then haunting the other from the grave is one of my favorite tropes because it's so angsty and dark so i really enjoyed their whole arc. And omgg when hyeon ju's mom turned out to be the shopkeepers daughter 🥹♥️ loved all the characters so much. Very curious to see how the moving universe and this one properly connect.
i think the disconnect and criticism we're seeing for this drama is mostly the result of kdrama fans ignoring that this series is based on a LITERARY FICTION NOVEL. Korean litfic novels (atleast the ones i've read) are vastly different from kdramas, there is no fluffy/ lovey dovey romance or even passionate romance. Characters are usually morally grey, realistic and the tone is sombre and cold. No, Netflix isn't ruining your precious drama no this drama isn't trying to be a HBO show. It's a direct adaptation of a Korean novel written by a korean author. If the show is well written or not is a different thing but the world does not revolve around the west so stop saying that kdramas are now too "westernized" just because they don't provide a rose colored "pure" sex free version of SK.
Yeah but just imagine the concept of casting "we are looking for not so pretty actresses for this role".. That'd…
I understand but they obviously have no problem casting average looking people when it comes to side character roles and villains. I think lookism unfortunately wins here because all the actors literally look like models.
Thank you so much for this list!! I'm always looking for some dark and twisted romance in my dramas bcs too much fluff can be annoying sometimes lol currently planning on watching bump off lover because I'm intrigued by the premise.
Korean webtoon castings baffle me so much. How do you adapt a webtoon whose whole premise revolves around an average looking girl feeling insecure in a society that prioritizes beauty over everything else and then cast a gorgeous looking actress like?? Just make it into an animation if it's physically impossible for you guys to cast people who don't look like models. Literally goes against the message of the story but i honestly doubt the korean entertainment industry cares about that. I'm sure they'll butcher the story too
So i am not fan of any of the actors , their acting is mediocre for me. All i can say is that hye yoon is the…
Agreed she obviously does most of the heavy lifting in both dramas i would say lovely runner didn't even showcase bws's potential because his character was very one dimensional but the audience is mainly women so once they see a "green flag" good looking male character they go crazy for him.
Well i guess this solves the mystery of who's the fifth person behind the curtain in the poster.... It's Bok Gwi ju and Do daehee's son!! Very good foreshadowing i would say since he has gwi ju's shadow in the background too basically telling us from the start that he would save his dad.
Really enjoyed this show btw and i don't mind if the ending could've been longer we can just theorise and imagine the rest of it by ourselves lol
Aww, thank you for the kind words! I actually love older dramas, so I'll definitely check out A Sleeping Forest…
I'm just not interested in court politics and all that, which is a very prominent part of historical cdramas i don't understand a lot of the intricacies as well so the plot becomes boring for me but i've seen so many people praise the ml in this one i'm really trying to watch it
Oh and I also recommend the kdrama "voice" if you're looking for fanon interpretation. It's your standard thriller show about the police and 112 forces making a special task force to solve crimes BUT the main antagonist is really obsessed with the female lead he's a rich psychopath who killed her father and because of her special hearing only she can recognize his identity as the killer. He becomes a more prominent character in ep 9 but it's very fun. Korean fans shipped those two a lot and you can find good fanarts and fan edits in korean as well

Oh that's interesting! I think you should check out kill me heal me then. It's about jisung's character having dissociative identity disorder and one of his personalities is very obsessed with the female lead who's the same as secret. It's a nice romcom but i watched kill me heal me after secret so it was a treat because i loved the leads already. Haven't seen the other two but they've been mentioned a lot in obsessive lists.
Also i started watching kunning palace because of the list but i'm braving myself through it because historical cdramas are SO difficult for me to watch haha i'll check out the bequeathed after this
It's a timeslip rom com. The fl is 34 from ep 1 till ep 13. So she don't really need to have character growth…
I think character growth is important in every show. The plot is already hanging by a thread. Barely any of sol's relationship outside of sunjae are given importance and same for sunjae. The first few episodes tried to set a foundation but they just abandoned it for a murder plot. And yes even though sunjae never committed suicide i personally think his character could've been so much more complex if he had actually commited suicide because we could've delved into his mind more but here's it's always "sol this" "sunjae that" with nothing of their own.
It was never a suicide. That was explained in episode 9. He was murdered from the very beginning.
Yes i know that's why i was disappointed. The plot synopsis indicated a suicide and i feel like they could've done a more interesting storyline with sunjae battling with his mental health them they did with this random serial killer trying to get revenge 😭
Dropping this now it's definitely the biggest disappointment of 2024 so far for me. The drama started out so brilliantly but then it started getting worse and worse every episode. Also why on earth did they make sunjae's death a murder?? It SHOULD'VE BEEN a suicide, i thought we would delve into sunjae's character ,his mental thoughts, weaknesses and the pitfalls of being an idol but he literally does not have a character or life outside of sol. It's like he exists just to be her boyfriend. The same could be said about sol. She has some comedic scenes with her brother and bff but that's literally it?
All these episodes and instead of working on their characters the writers keep doing the same thing of sol going back. I mean these characters are EXACTLY the same as they were in the first episode, that's crazy. Too many plot holes and nonsensical writing has ruined a near perfect show.
I feel like everyone is ignoring it's flaws because of the amazing chemistry between the leads, but chemistry can only do so much when the writers just don't care about these characters as individuals.
EDIT: some people are misunderstanding i know it was not a suicide but in the initial episodes and synopsis it was referred to as a suicide ao i think that route would've been better than this weird murder plot
Really enjoyed this show btw and i don't mind if the ending could've been longer we can just theorise and imagine the rest of it by ourselves lol
Also i know most characters in this show are morally grey but i want both the grandma and sauna lady to get punished idc
