I LOVE it because it's light, cute, funny and without annoying unnecessary overdramatic cliches. It's not that it's not going anywhere, it's just that it's supposed to be like this. Just Wei Wei and Xiao Nai loving each other and living their daily lives. You'll enjoy it a lot if you think of it this way. I actually liked him as Ye Xiu but I see what you mean, I also think he needs improvement. Surprisingly enough, his most popular works are the ones he plays cliche pretty boys but he actually got a quite diverse filmography. You definitely should read the novel! Characters' lives aren't as explored as in the drama but the game part is much bigger. Glory is just so cool that everybody that reads it want a game like this. The anime too, you definitely should watch it too if you haven't, it's AMAZING
