Saw this interesting translation of a press interview with the director of TWOE: "Director Han Dongwook said he wanted each of the Gangnam Union members to represent a different part of Gicheul: “Jungbae is suspicious, Heesung is easy-going, Chief Seo is cruel. Every time Junmo break them one by one, he was cutting off Gicheul’s limbs off one by one”
When I watched the last 3 episodes of TWOE, I imagined TSOM's Rieul side by side with TWOE's PJM and I'm awestruck. Those two characters are played by the same actor? Woah...
I like the ending but I agree with you about Euijeong. I felt she was written more as a device plot to keep the…
For PJM, his change and madness didn't surprise me cos of what his senior said about him...he is someone who will get what he wants. The analogy in my mind for him is a crazy dog who won't let go of his bite. He's a very determined man. It's not easy for someone like him to live honestly with a junkie father. I imagined he was mocked and bullied when he was younger. Yet his choice was never the dark path. He was very determined in his choice. That's why he said to JKC at the end...it was an excuse that JKC had no choice to live normally.
As for the marriage, yeah, that's the part that's imperfect but I also find it real. Maybe they had poor communication to start with. IDK.
While I wouldn't call this a masterpiece I enjoyed the ride from start to finish. I came here for Ji Chang-wook…
I thought it's a great watch too but I was afraid that the ending would be lame. But it turned out better than expected so I'm satisfied. I think the acting and the cinematography elevated the show. The story was okay...better than what I thought it would be.
I think the ending was okay — but it truly didn't hit it for me. Glad for everyone who enjoyed the ride. Also,…
I like the ending but I agree with you about Euijeong. I felt she was written more as a device plot to keep the 2 MLs entangled emotionally. But yeah, I asked myself a few times what's the point of her role? And the worst thing is that I didn't care for her at all. The writing aside, I just feel her character is a bit wishy-washy when it comes to love. Maybe she loved JKC in her past but she wasn't able to get over because he was her first love and there wasn't proper closure back then to end the relationship. Even though she love PJM now, she clung on to her past. In PJM's word, why did she get her involved in the investigation cos she's more of a distraction to him. The same can be said about her role in the drama. The 2FL, Haerung was better. At least at the end, she protected PJM in her own way.
So killing people and selling drugs aren't reasons enough ?
He was too greedy. He admitted himself. He wanted to get rich quickly at people's expense, never mind drugs are destructive. Even his staff felt so. So I don't like him but I had sympathy for him in ep 12 cos of how it all ended for him.
Ji Chang Wook is one of my favourites but does anybody else find his character in this extremely unlikeable? definitely…
I like his character mostly. It was already established he would have to act bad to be with the bad. But he showed kindness in the end. I didn't like the 2ML initially cos he was too greedy and weak but he got my sympathy in ep 12.

In some countries, drug trafficking is death sentence. I think you feel for the guy cos they didn't show you how the massive drugs he was dealing in destroyed people and families.
Finally finished watching and am satisfied with the ending. I think it's realistic, unlike some dramas that make it too neat and tidy. This is not the genre I like to watch but I watch it for JCW. He really amazes me cos I cannot recognize him at all. The story is typical but they know how to engage the audience's emotions. I think if a show can make you care for the characters, it's quite successful. Honestly, I don't care for the male/female relationships. I cared more for the boys. When I began this drama, I had wanted JKC to have a bad ending but by ep 12, I changed my mind. The top police chief was an AH and so is that fat cop. How that one ended, I didn't feel bad at all. The editing for some of the episodes were a bit rough but overall, I enjoyed the styling and tone.
FL, 2ML definitely had sex even though it not explicitly shown. Because no one is there to stop them or spoil…
You know cos you were with them right and it was not shown explicitly. No one could stop you peeping into their intimate moments. Wait...you joined them too right cos it was not shown explicitly. It was all in your head.
