Thank you for your comments. I loved Dating in the Kitchen . I think that in some dramas if the viewers like the story or actors they will give them a pass. I like the actress in Forbidden Flower but the schoolgirl falling falling for an older hunk made me feel uncomfortable. The other way around can feel creepy. But many love that drama. Snowfall (2024) is another that got comments about the age gap. I didn't like the SML who seemed to be the teacher's pet with the director.

I like IU in Hotel DeLuna. Her strong quirky character was pretty interesting. Thank you.

People who say that there was no romance in the original usually say that because of the age gap. I guess for them it made the drama more palatable.
Google says that the age gap of the characters in My Mister was around 18 years while the age gap in Loving Strangers is 15. Lee Sun-kyun b. 1 Mar 75 age 43 yrs old in 2018 IU b. 16 May 93 age 25 in 2018. Mark Chao b. 25 Sept 84 age 41 Zhang Zifeng b. 27 Aug 01 age 24. My Mister filming began after first script reading on 18 Dec 2017. Loving Strangers filming began in Sept 24.

The three brother struggle with romances that for two are angst stories. The main couple, despite their age difference (for some, for many?? taboo territory) has a moving and bittersweet romance. I think that the ending implies a HE in the future.

I dunno, her lover was F*cked and is in jail, she lost her job, and the person who ruined their lives did it for her husband, who now loves her.And she knows that. She is with her kid in America and by searching for schools in the US to resume her studies it means that their lives are now separate. And if she ever came back with her kid, the ending hints that she will play the second fiddle.

I hope that this drama makes viewers take a look or take another look at My Mister.
Besides this being a remake of a drama that I have fond memories of, I like Zhang Zifeng. I first noticed her in the beginning episodes of The Heart of Genius. She was in the movie Begin Again (2019) but on youtube as Happy New Year. Didn't recognize her until several years later. Bai Bai He is the FL. After The Heart of Genius I watched her in Homesick. It wasn't a happy watch. Thank you.

In the last episode at 4:39, Li Ji An tells the wife, "And I hated you a lot, lady. I was so envious of you." And then during during her interrogation next to the wife, she say that his phone had only one number labeled wife. He is faithful even if she was not. I think this is showing that her feeling and probably his (that's why he cried alone after that) were more than platonic. But I think that the drama painted themselves into a corner with the age gap with the ML and IU. She was very different from the FL in Hotel De Luna. Very different.

The Korean version had a son and the last episode had two confusing statements. She is in America with her son an the ML's Mother asks when she is returning to Korea. He says Next next week. But then she asks why she is staying there so long. She is looking for schools for herself. So the implication is that they live separate lives. The FL is helped by A Boss sending her to a company in Busan where she can start fresh, which she does.In the final scene the ML meets the FL by chance in Seoul after she was transferred to Seoul. He says he is a CEO of his own (small) company and offers her a chance to visit. She offers to buy him a meal. After they part first he looks back at her and after that she looks back at him. Their eyes don't meet. But the promise of a future together is there.

The romance between the two was a very strong reason why My Mister is well regarded. Two broken souls that help each other. Don't know how the Chinese version will finish it. The Korean version left it for interpretation.

Are you talking about the end of My Mister? His wife goes to live with her son, so they are effectively apart and so that is why the meeting with IU has a hint of promise.

If you haven't seen it already, Rise of Her Lady Physician (2025) alo has a stong FL and supportive ML. But the romance takes a back seat in that one.

The Old Madam of the Li Family (Zhao Qingru) has a son. ep. 4 7:28 she refers to him as Jinxu, but the cast doesn't list his name. This MDL cast list is very incomplete. The maids aren't listed either. The two concubines are a strategic alliance with the (powerful?) Tang and Qin Families. Ep. 3 3:43 alludes to a conflict (with Yanchu? or the concubines jockeying for position within the Li Mansion?) as the ML was discussing with Vice Gen. Shu after leaving Yaochu during the first wedding night. He had to let her in as her position in the Shen Family is precarious and she might not survive. and "The Tang and Qin Family are already involved." No need to drag a helpless woman in. He thinks of Yanchu threatening him with her hair pin. No she is not helpless.

Parted as an infant she probably has no idea who her real Mother was. You are right, What threat did the addled minded Mother pose to anyone in the Li Mansion. Alive she could have been used to put pressure Yaochu. Her death doesn't seem to have put caution or real fear in Yaochu. Alive, she wouldn't be a strong ally. I suspect she saw something and that person needed to silence her. I keep thinking about Guanyin Nunnery. If so, then why poison the Banker. Was it concerned with the forged banknote? Did he frequent a brothel?

Very late to the party but Ruoyu doesn't connect with with the ML. She connects with another character. She goes abroad and at the end returns to the company. But the guy she is with is kind of a jerk. She ends up at a higher position than him, so his pride may not allow him to reconnect with her.
For some reason I can't find it anymore so this us from memory.

For me I liked her in You Complete Me and Winter Nights. This one not so much.

I also enjoyed that. This reminds me in part of The Substitute Princess's Love (2024)

Li Jingchuan's sister Li Xingwan is adopted. Shen Yaochu's younger sister Shen Yunge was given away as an infant said to be a brothel by her Stepmother. Xingwan and Yunge may be the same person. Xingwan was supposed to be at the Guanyin Nunnery where Yaoachu's Mother was poisoned. She is very affectionate with Jingchu and being an adopted sister may be playing the long game.

Their relationship is still guarded and standoffish. One tries to get close and the other rejects and vice versa. And the Li Mansion and the inner harem is complicated. Battlefield enemies are an open book by comparison.
