Thank you for your comments. Qi Menglin for some reason hides what he really feels. He has been attracted to Luo Shu from when he first lay eyes on her as Jin Nang. And I want to believe that his admiration of 'sissy' stemmed from attraction. In ep. 5, he kicked the lunging Li Fengchun to stop him from attacking Luo Shu. Even his servant could see that he admired 'sissy' in ep. 5, although he denied it. Actions speak louder than words. Right now the romance between her and Han is chugging pretty smoothly. I have to admit. I think that the cat and dog show is more interesting than the mutual admiration society, though. I think that we should agree to disagree. Take care. I follow this drama with affection.

I'm team FL, too. You have some good points here and in other comments. I think your words and hers were too hard on Qi Menglin. Not only has he read those detective novels but by following her and observing, he was able to say that the novels were full of useless fluff and that he had to be like sissy. Actually, the novels lay the groundwork and observing allowed him determine what is useful and not. His bluster pushes her away. So when he asked if the yamen had special training, rather than helping him, she locked him in the mortuary. Who is childish now? And it started from the beginning with the food basket with the cinder block. And that was because of a a misunderstanding of why he bid for her. And he was quite clever in dismantling that old man and out bidding him. Back to Luo Shu. Granted that Miaocui's comments blaming her that outside was not better and that she could never escape her low status, weighed heavily on Luo Shu's mind. That may be why she took it out on Menglin by locking him in. So even though he tried to help by offering money, he stepped into it by throwing Miaocui's words back at her and gloating. He is not useless. He helps with the strengths, albeit limited, that he has. Granted it is largely money and the efforts of his servant. It may also be the scriptwriting, but he knows to keep his mouth shut and observe when they are doing the interviews. The drama has Miaocui going back to the Mingke House, but Luo Shu could have just as easily had her accompanying her during her investigations like the Shrine. That would have helped Miaocui a lot.
Fans of the show are saying that our ML is going to mature in the next few episodes. I hope they are right. I…
Qi Meng Lin isn't dumb, and his arc may show the most growth. But he is played for the comedic scenes and the love hate friction with Luo Shu. As some have said, Han Muzhi plays the straight man and gets the romantic bits, so far. I wonder if either could marry an ex-courtesan, save as a concubine, no matter what her origin is. I'm team ML.
My only complaint is the writer’s choice for drama’s sake - to make ML so irritatingly stubborn to forgive…
I understand. But he was rejected by his 'Mother,' he was burned by his first secretary who was like family to him. She was there when he got the operation when he was seven years old. So he had trust issues and for the purpose of this drama, takes it out on his hapless secretaries. His greatest pride became his greatest weakness and I guess in his mind, she exploited it. Childish, yes. Petty, yes. Sometimes it takes a while to leave the dark. Just my two cents worth.
I’m still confused how East asians in general can’t handle mixed blood ! why people we are from the same material…
I suspect that for South Koreans, mixed blood is believed to be with American servicemen and those women with mixed children who don't leave with their American husbands may be considered to have loose moral or some other flaw. That kind of prejudice is not unique to SK and GIs, Any place that has a military base has similar problems. In my Hawaii, there is resentment to local girls and perhaps local men dating Service people. Partly locals versus outsiders. It doesn't help that the Service members have more disposable income, can be considered exotic and may offer a ticket to escape Hawaii. But rather than admit that, they will use the pejorative 'haole' to justify their anger and resentment. You can also see the resentment from their racial groups when whites and blacks date each other. So I guess that I'm saying that any difference and perceived weakness can be used to attack and ostracize anyone. One doesn't have to be wrong. it can be enough if you are different. Or walk to the beat of a different drummer. Hope that this rambling explanation is of some use. Take care.
Ok so GH took SG with her because she thought she was meeting her dad. She was surprised to see YS and immediately…
As some have said, she could be half Asian and half Korean. And the drama identifying the country could cause protests. Being mixed is kinda like being a returnee. That difference, whether real or perceived, can be a weak point for others to attack you. it is easier to blend in a big city, less easy in the rural area. And some are strong enough and charismatic enough so that it is not a prob;rm. In a HS class in a rural area, there was a returnee student in a class that I visited hid that he could speak English well. Not for me and not even for his English teacher. Another JHS student had light light brown eyes light brown hair and looked mixed. Her teacher swore that she was all Japanese. I saw many like her growing up in Hawaii that had the best features of Asian and Caucasian. I also think that the rich boy Kim Han-yeol harbors, and had earlier harbored feelings for her that he was either not strong enough to admit, or could not break the ice with her. And once the bull like him starts bullying, his minions jump in and it leads a life of its own. Kim with his arrogance never had a chance to get on her good side. I think that you are right that she expected her Father to be in that room. At least I hope that they will go down that path. It seemed pretty clear.
I did read about the delivery guy story in the description while watching the drama so there is a spin off with…
Looking up Qi Dao Jun, the screenwriter shows two TBA project adapted from her web novels, there are Kai Xue and Kai Duan. Restart is a separate entry. So potentially three more dramas. Kai Xue seems to be on track to be completed first, so that might be the movie with the delivery guy.
