Duang with you and Me and Thee also have high ratings. Me and Thee - 8.8 and Duang with you 8.9 but it was 9.0…
Fourth and Gemini have mostly been in light romcoms, with the exception of Midnight Chicken, which had a little more mature edge to it. But this series really shows their dramatic abilities, IMO. The story isn't as neatly packaged as your typical Thai BL. As @Kisywisy stated, "it is absolutely astounding."
I believe an 8.8 rating on MDL is the highest "I've" ever seen for a BL series. If there is another BL series with a higher rating, would someone let me know what it is?
I think this rating is so high because this series has really touched on some really difficult, complicated, and heartfelt issues. Not only has it made us cry, but it has also made us think!
This is a heavy series, I found myself crying when Tanrak confessed that he loves Barth very much too. At this…
Remember, this series is set in the 1990s. Ideas, thoughts, and beliefs surrounding religion, lgbtq+ issues and the christian God in Thailand were vastly different than over 30 years later.
Hmmm, what tropes in particular are you thinking of?
Here are just a few: 1) "Top" is the taller character; 2) "Bottom" is almost always emotionally insecure; 3) The whole rivals-to-lovers scenario; 4) "Bottom" seems to always be chasing the top; and 5) First-time male-to-male sex between to "supposedly non-lgbtq+ males is portrayed as this shockingly wonderful, unforgettable experience. There are more, but this is just a sample from this series. Don't get me wrong. The series was ok. IMO, it could've been better with more development on connection and less reliance on old stereotypes and tropes. Just my opinion.
This series wasn't bad. Actually, if it hadn't relied so heavily on the old common tropes of so many Thai BLs, it would've been a really good series. IMO, Japanese BLs have really gone down in quality, and that's kind of sad.
1. I still have residual feelings of slapping the brother. Idc if he did give him good advice.2. I was about to…
Yi Chen's relationship with Lu Feng is like forgiving the boyfriend who killed your family! It's that sick and toxic at times. But I think that's the reason so many like it. Wow!
Interesting series. It reminds me of "Reset the Series" without the time jump. I'll be interested in how this plot moves forward. Jay is a sneaky p-o-s. Even though I know Sun and Jay get together, it would still be nice to see Sun get a little "payback" on Jay for the way he treated him initially.
From reading the other posts, it appears many liked this episode. Well, I'm not in that many. This was one of the most vicious and sick episodes of a BL that I've ever seen, and I've seen hundreds of BL series. I realize that Chinese BLs can be really graphic, intense, and even have some downright sick sh*t at times. But this series takes it to a whole new level. By the end of the episode, I wanted to jump into the scene and beat the sh*t out of Lu Feng myself! I realize love can make you do some crazy stuff, but this was "CRAZY!" I'm not emotionally able to watch the rest of this series. Otherwise, I might kick a hole in my monitor each time Lu Feng is on the screen! You guys enjoy the rest of this series. I'm out of here!
Probably a VERY unpopular opinion but ohh how I don't like anyone in this series except Lu Feng, like this man…
Yeah, your opinion probably will be unpopular with some but not with all. I actually agree with you (and you make some valid points) about LF. Also yeah, in classic Chinese BL fashion, there probably will be a happy ending, as ugly and as messed-up as it might be. LMFAO!!
The thing to remember is this: Chinese BLs have almost always been about 1) over-the-top drama, 2) violence, including sexual violence (which is what I simply can't stand), and 3) over exaggeration of stereotypes and tropes. This may be one of the main reasons so many like them OR simply that the Chinese have such a large population, even if a small portion likes the series, that's still a great many folks tuning in. LOL!
Sorry! I'm rambling now. I said all of this to say, "interesting synopsis!" Keep posting your thoughts and opinions!
I'm actually liking the cuteness of this series. I just hope that the rest of the episodes don't have Ko Neung constantly acting like a sixth grader. That's starting to become less cute and more annoying.
I'm really not sure what to make of this series??? It is sort of funny. I guess. But, I just don't know what to make of it??? So I will keep my comments to myself. LMFAO!
don't worry there are more rape scenes in the next episodes
Thanks for the heads up. Then I think I will pass on the rest of the eps. I know many posters don't or won't have a problem with the rape crap, mainly because "it's just a tv series." But making light of sexual assault is not my cup of tea.
