Exactly! And some people say that him being loving and kind makes him the strongest character! How?? His attitudes end up hurting Xiao Yao more than any of the other suitors' actions. I don't understand this. There are plenty of characters who are loving and kind, but they are also resolute and proactive. These are not conflicting traits. It just doesn't make sense.

I didn't at first. I liked her when she was Wen Xiao Liu. But the moment she regained her true form and became Xiao Yao, it was when I could no longer relate to many of her decisions. Granted, she had by then acquired many responsibilities, and life as a princess was truly constraining and it prevented her from being as carefree as before, but still, that's when, for me, her character lost the complexity and potential it once had. The plot also needed her to be seemingly more oblivious to things around her compared to how smarter she was when in a male form, and it's a somewhat strange message to pass to the audience.

I could never actually find her relatable because her character has very deep issues that contributed to molding a very troubled personality. Her need to be surrounded by people weaker than her, her crippling fear of being abandoned, all those traits are far from being healthy, and even if they are understandable considering the trauma she went through, they turned her into a very selfish individual.

Yeah, you're 💯 right. Team Xiao Yao would always be the safest bet. It's a pity that at times she's such an unlikeable character 😔
