If mom got hooked, then that's a win :)For real, Xiang Liu and Cang Xuan are the standouts in terms of character…
To put it bluntly, when she became a woman again she also became sort of...boring. I'm sorry, but she did. It's a sad message indeed, specially if we're looking for a strong female character and the one we get was actually better when she was a supposed to be a man, as you said. All that good work that Yang Zi put in, the excellent acting when she thought she had found her mom again, all those scenes were top-notch but she was still Wen Xiao Liu. Xiao Yao is just the typical princess suffering for not really wanting the responsibilities of being a princess and doing whatever CX wanted her to do. Not to mention her obliviousness to the things that really mattered hahaha. But that's not a topic for the main comment section.
Tushan Jing makes me despair. Him being extremely soft will get him nowhere. He is not that competent and neither…
Oh, judging by those awful script leaks, the production is bending itself in a pretzel to change a lot of important elements from the novel to the screen adaptation. They'll probably end up butchering the arc of the best character in this story 😞. As for more character development, eh, not too much to be done about those two :(
I'm on episode 25. The plot is good, I got my mom hooked💃I'm not liking the characters as much as I would have…

For real, Xiang Liu and Cang Xuan are the standouts in terms of character development. It helps a lot that both actors are so incredibly talented. Everything about them is above average.
I agree with your views about Xiao Yao. There was plenty of potential during the first arc, but unfortunately, the story decided to take the easy way out and squash any chance of giving her a bit more complexity. Wen Xiao Liu was so much more interesting to watch.
It's xuanhuan, if I'm not mistaken. If it were xianxia, everything would be so much easier to fix 😅🤧
You're welcome! Ah, yes. It's a bit confusing. I remember reading an article here on MDL that explained the differences really well. If I can find it again, I'll send it to you.
JFC. Here we go AGAIN. I really have to wonder if you would dare to say this crap to any of us face to face.Edit…
I feel like you need to be educated on this matter, considering this is an issue that is clearly making you upset. Would you like to join us in our forum? We discuss things in a very academic way, with arguments based on the novel and the drama.
You talk as if we are attracted by his flaws, that's very smart. But sorry we are actually attracted by his beauty,…
I just wrote this, right this instant.
Imagine thinking that Xiang Liu is loved because he gets people beaten up under his command, and not only that but because he also loves stepping on their wounds. Throwing people off trees, woah yeah, that's so sexy and romantic, what a wonderful man.
I swear, the more they try to justify their dislike for him, the more it shows how little knowledge they have on any of this.
And always under the guise of protecting women while simultaneously wishing they get abused one day. My personal favorite is "I hope you find yourself a real Xiang Liu one day".
its well written character indeed. The way he treated XY is questionable throughout the story from start to end.…
That's sort of a moot point. I mean, people criticizing Xiao Yao. There's no reason for her to be under such fire considering that she does love Xiang Liu. You mentioned Chinese forums, YouTube, Reddit. I thought the Chinese people were all onboard the Jing ship. Isn't that what they're always claiming? Is there trouble in paradise?
It's just that most people have only watched the drama, and for reasons of censorship and other nonsense like that, the TV adaptation had to tone down considerably her interactions with Xiang Liu, including her feelings for him.
It's a very dumb way to treat the audience, and very patronizing too, but they need to sort of sell the idea that XY loves only Jing, which is not true. So those women you're ranting against, they don't have the full picture to rely on. Though it's odd because even with all the watering-down, it's pretty clear that XY loves XL as well. She just keeps lying to herself as a form of self-preservation, which is understandable, considering the many unfortunate things that keep them apart.
So thanks for your concern about how misogyny affects us. But there really is no need to go shaming women for liking what they like, or implying that this innocuous little drama will somehow be our downfall. Also, the "you'll end up in an abusive, toxic relationship one day" is getting kind of old.
And the fact that you think that millions of people (not just women, mind you) consider Xiang Liu the best and most appealing character in this story "because of the fantasy of abuse and violence presented in fiction" is laughable and, quite honestly, pure idiocy. Who in their right mind would be attracted to his character because of these traits?
But sure, go on trying to protect us silly women who cannot distinguish fact from fiction if it makes you feel better. Much appreciated.
I love you girl. I need to make one as well hahaha

Amiga, vamos conversar sobre essa ansiedade. Estou cansada de escrever em inglês e quero papear com as coleguinhas brasileiras 🇧🇷

Good thing karma is real.
