I unfortunately wasn’t aware of this story before watching the drama, but I am quite sure that if I had read the novel 11 years ago, my unwavering loyalty to Xiang Liu would have remained to this day. Not sure about the other one, but I guess YaoXuan also has an undeniable appeal because of how fascinating Cang Xuan is. His heart is in the right place, but unfortunately the circumstances are not in his favor.

It’s heartbreaking to acknowledge that he is the only right choice while simultaneously being the impossible choice. That’s the tragedy of this story.
