My issue with this season is that they reduce the character of Du Cheng to the "dumb sidekick" whose only function…
I agree with you all.
As for jsj, he did some joint interviews, and he is currently filming something, which we learned from the live streaming with other casts on the 10th of December. So, I guess, it's really due to his schedule. But, it's also true, that he refused to do any variety stuff and his last appearance on the variety show was like in 2018... and now, he will be on Hello, Saturday. So, that's a big deal. I think he cares about the drama that much lol
Btw. Jin Shijia also refuses to have an official fanclub and doesn't want to accept any collective fan activities. Thank god. Otherwise, there would be a huge fan war... and how can I blame them? I mean, DC in the 1st season was a pretty talented police officer, who is still young but already the captain with three stars and two lines? (That means, his position is three ranks higher than SY. Three fucking ranks. SY in S2 doesn't even care about that and after the brief chat, he went straight ahead to Zhang Zhu, to get the sign. Cool.)

Apart from the grudge, DC also struggled in the first season to utilize SY in the squad because the portrait artist was never really an essential member of his team. Eventually, he and his team members accepted SY as not only a genius portraitist but also a fellow officer. I really don't feel DC is the team leader anymore.

SY呢? Does he still remember that he is a police officer in S2? You are not trained as a psychotherapist (oh gawd. poor Li Han. you should go to the professional therapist) nor a forensic doctor (He Rongyue didn't even roll her eyes when he analyzed the scratch on the wrist of victim to HER.)

I very much doubt if a refined noble from once the most powerful family could accept being castrated and play a boytoy in the ancient China (even tho it's set during the fictional Dynasty). I haven't read the novel yet, but my take is, as a drama watcher, he only accepted the sentence cuz he could revenge on the royal family.

So.... I have a question. I can only find the English translation of the novel till ep 62 by Autumn Pond Reflection & Qiqi translation, while the original novel has 171 chapters. Ppl, who finished the book, read the Chinese one or is there another translation, that finished all 171 chapters?

I think Huang Yimei aka Rosie is wearing extra gorgeous clothes. She's a fine arts student so fashion conscious…
yeah, not only Huang Yimei but non of the MLs don't wear any typical Y2K fashion.

I enjoyed this drama. The English title should be just the translation of the Chinese title: a mai joins the army.

so far so good. but... why is the bgm SO LOUD?! like I checked if another drama simultaneously runs behind this. And also, wth is this title?
Anyway, the training scenes are very solid and believable. We have the more realistic version of Hua Mulan here lol

Can someone translate the Chinese name of the drama Yi Nian Guan Shan to English ? I think it has a different…
Im not a nativespeaker either, and was also curious about it.
so… i was googled
"The title of the drama 一念关山 is full of profound imagery and connotations. The word "Yinian" refers to a person's inner thoughts, while "Guanshan" represents the country, the mountains and the earth. This nomenclature precisely matches the content of the plot and demonstrates the close connection between the individual and the country."

Review The Heart
Thank you for your great review! I also really really hope more intl. c-drama fans watch this drama. For that... WeTV and Linmon (on YT) need proper English subs... many of my friends dropped after watching the first couple episodes solely bc of the awful MTL subs. It's not that we are not ready to watch proper dramas, but obviously, the production team or Streaming platform think intl fans are only interested in idol dramas.

Title The Heart
Avenue X posted her final review. She gave the drama three! freaking gold mines! She basically said, that the script is well researched and written, all the detail was meticulously reconstructed and beautifully shot, and also the acting department is overall satisfying. No complaint. Wow. Just, wow.

Ofc, many of us, intl c-drama viewers, have to struggle with MTL subtitles. I still hope WeTV will get the proper English subs... I remember they changed "the long season"'s English subs long after the final episode was out.

Title The Heart
It's like we watched this drama in small groups. I enjoyed it until the end, the MLs's friendship were the best.…
it was difficult to watch for me, as a non Chinese speaker, bc of awful AI subs... I constantly switched from EN to CN and vice versa. I deffo missed so many nuanced, philosophical dialogues... I suspect, it was also one of the huge reasons, why not many intl. c-drama fans watched the series. It's really nicely done, well acted drama. I hope, WeTV and Linmon pictures get the better English subs.
