Yes. But I recommend watching the two π You can understand this drama even as a standalone but the reason I'm recommending it, is bc it's great to see some connection. Like for example, they mention names of people here in BR but will not be shown and there are stories behind them or their relation to them. One example is Baili Dongjun, he will be mentioned more than once but if you watch as a standalone, you will not know who he is or what is his capacity. This is just one example but if you really like to just watch it without the two, then again, yes you can do so π
In ep 18 Su Mu Yu learns about who was behind his family's assassinaton. But I got confused. It was Blood River…
As I understand and remember, Wushuang City wanted the manuals bc they wanted to be the only no.1 swordsmen sect and so they paid Blood River to annihilate the whole No Sword City. Wushuang City was included in TBOY as well, if you've watched that. Wushuang (the kid) is already a grown up in TBOY and can already use almost all the swords on the box. His master was also in TBOY, I remember he lost a fight in there and stepped down as a City Lord and so the next one was Wushuang but the Elders were questioning him being the City Lord. That is the best of my memory so I might be wrong π
They took a very smart way to end IMO. Ending before the 12 years later part, connects it to the TBOY which happens…
Yes, the ending where they left Tianqi connects well with TBOY and the 12 years later also connects to what happens to them after TBOY since they've decided to agree with Xiao Chuhe's deal (as far as I can remember lol)
Ikr!! I hope if they really release TBOY2, hope they can give an episode or even a part of how is BR after esp that BR is well loved. They could give it as a treat to the fans hahaha
Ok. I'm back again to just discuss why I think the ending satisfies me (not the 12 years later), I mean the ending where they left Tianqi and will still be branded as killers. It's so good to see they've decided to have their own meaning of justice but also, as someone who loves the connection of the 3 dramas, I really like the ending bc it gives us the reason why in TBOY they still haven't gotten the freedom or light they have wanted. As SMY said, Prince Langya was dying and they don't want to be used in the court battles anymore. And as I also said before maybe it was really hard during those times so they needed a powerful backer again. Prince Langya died, Xiao Chong was blind (they don't know if they can collab with him), Xiao Chuhe left so only Xiao Yu was there with power and means to ascend the throne. And so they chose Xiao Yu, which is a good connection following the ending here in BR since they didn't get their original goal achieved YET. That's all lol
Done. I am wrung dry.Was it really 38 episodes? This is the first historical drama which I actually watched. So…
Is this really a question sorry π I am asking first bc you said you're not going to watch the other 2 so i don't know if you're really asking for like a spoiler/related to TBOY
But if yes. In TBOY, SMY and BHH didn't meet yet, it would be hmm around 4 to 5 years after TBOY so we donβt know
MYM and TLY didn't end up together in TBOY as well. But they show a part where Wushuang (the kid in Wushuang city) met MYM and ask her about the man she is longing bc he could tell it from her eyes
Lastly, towards the end of this drama, they were talking about a scroll. That scroll will also be a source of conflict in TBOY. Because if found that the scroll contains the name of Prince Langya then his son should be the rightful emperor. That is also why his son was sent away to be protected bc Prince Langya didn't want to involved his son in the throne anymore. However, in TBOY he would still show up but he will not claim the throne so yes, he is like a guest role there
I finally finished!! But I won't try to make a review on this drama. All I just want to say is that I like it a lot. It's not the type of drama where I gain some kind of valuable lessons (so no review from me) lol but to me it's the type of drama that entertains me. The type that piques my interest, makes me excited and just want to watch the story as it is. I also love the fact that it is part of a drama universe(?) which is unusual in dramas (in general). Some might not agree with connecting this drama to its sequel but for me, it gives more color to the story. Life isn't always happy ending anyway. Because you see if not for the things that happened in TBOY, how can we feel emotional for the bond they created here. One comment tho is I wished they had used the actor (the one that played SMY's father here & SMY in TBOY) in the additional ending of 12 years later part to connect it more but that's just me lol
Acting wise is good to me. The characters did well portraying their roles. I think CHS did really good, it felt to me like he keeps improving everytime I watch him. Story wise is also ok. I think the ending suits well and I like it (really, it goes well when you connect it to TBOY). There are many loopholes with regards to ages/years but nonetheless, what a great mind to have thought of these 3 dramas! I even tell these 3 dramas to my friends who don't even care π but my mouth keeps yapping because this drama excites me and amazes me. Will I rewatch? YES. And it's because of the connection of the 3 dramas.
I would also like to say, itβs so good to see PXR. To be honest, when I watched her in GMP (which was so long ago), I really felt like she could have make it big. She's one of the actresses that I really find beautiful. I have watched most of her other dramas before this bc she's an actress I'm looking forward to. So it's great to see her here and be given a spotlight again for herself. I hope she gets amazing roles again soon. Speaking of her as MYM, I hoped they have also shown some future for her and TLY π₯Ή bc what do you mean they promised each other and that's it? (did they even see each other in TBOY bc afaik they didn't)
MQY and MXW made me cry tho π bc MQY has always been vocal on what he wants to do once they finish things in Tianqi and my boy didn't get to do it. He didn't deserve thattttt.
What else to say? Hmm effects, cgi are nice (maybe not the start of when ZQ and SMY fight lol) and yeah, that's it I guess. I wrote too much already. If I find the time, I will try to rewatch all. Overall, a really good drama!
Ok, I saw the first comment before typing this so thanks, I will wait for the express then. Still at ep 32 so I have more eps to watch while waiting lol
Contemplating if I should watch today's eps or just wait until the express π€ I'm scrolling so fast in the comments bc my curiosity will immediately tell me to watch it π₯² I already saw something like SMY confessing.....
I stopped at episode 29...I'm not watching till it endsπππ
I do that sometimes lol but I eventually catch up. Lucky you, you have distraction but for me sadly, I donβt have much work. Well, it's happy but at the same time boring so I end up watching a lot. I need to find new drama while waiting for BR.
Ikr! That's my same thought while watching the new ep. It's so good they have tackled Prince Langya's life here…
They were the 2nd lead couple in Youthful Glory. I also liked Chang Hua Sen and Dai Luwa couple in Moonlight Mystique, they were also really good there
Ikr! That's my same thought while watching the new ep. It's so good they have tackled Prince Langya's life here…
I like Bai Shu as well! Glad to even see Dai Luwa with him bc I think they look good together hahaha I know they were also couple in another drama.
Hopefully!! I also think it would be a waste not to continue this series of dramas. We don't get that often in cdrama so being able to do that and be well accepted is already a really good thing
It seems to me as of ep 29, SCH has already decided not to side with Lord Langya.
Yes because SCH doesn't trust anyone in Tianqi and with what ZQ said about partnering with a prince who's most likely to be emperor, I guess that would really stuck in SCH's mind. No one is more powerful than an emperor as a backer anyway
It seems to me as of ep 29, SCH has already decided not to side with Lord Langya.
Yes. He is already doubting if they can really gain something from Prince Langya considering the ongoing rumors becoming more spread even to common people. They should have stayed in Nan'an lol
I really like that this drama covered Xiao Ruofeng's love story. He was so perfect and mighty in the DY, without…
Ikr! That's my same thought while watching the new ep. It's so good they have tackled Prince Langya's life here for a while even if the drama is of course heavily focused on An He. We also get to see how the suspicion and rumors first started and came that led to his ending, bc we only get to see bits of his ending story in TBOY
Me hoping they should have all stayed in Nan'an instead of pushing to Tianqi, they could have wiped off that sect who doesn't want them to settle in Nan'an hahahahahaha but oh well, hoping for a bit of their story if the sequel of TBOY really gets released
