and is she's also like him the cream of women or another cdrama about ml simp and fl have more important things…
yes, both of them have good personalities, both are brave, courageous and caring. they are focused on their own careers and help each other. although the story is FL centric since this is about her but she helped a lot of people along the way including ML's dilemma about helping other people and his cases. she is also very kind to her friends. a simp sml? not sml but there is a guy who has one sided love at her. you can try watching it š
Some people have too many irrelevant gripes here .1. Cinematography is bad. Really? Is that the only thing that…
This is what actually made me quite annoyed with new fans of cdrama that watched only POJ. I am happy for the success but I really dislike the fact that because of it, they don't give chance to older or recent cdramas. I understand that they like the drama but for me (preference wise) POJ is not the best out there. Yes, it has great cinematography. Some dramas won't focus on that. Even POJ didn't focused well on their 2nd half and fans would defend it as "40 episode limit" when that rule has been going on for years. Each drama has their own charm and to always compare it to your fav cdrama literally destroys your chance to discover cdramas with amazing plots.
I'm still at ep 3 but none bothered me as of yet since I'm still at the beginning and I am still waiting for the story to unfold. I just hope that the comment section would be more of a discussion about this drama rather than stupidly comparing it to others. They don't even belong to the same genre
Honestly, didn't expect I would love this drama. I just casually watched it since I need to watch something new and I found the plot and trailer interesting. It was such a good drama and story. The character development of Xiaolan and her friends and family is amazing. I also love how supportive Zhou Cheng is, as Xiaolan said, until the modern times, the likes of Zhou Cheng will be the cream of the crop personality of men. I also love how her mom grew and developed herself along with her uncle and aunt. The development of Zhao Hui into a more righteous person is a good story too. Even the side characters like Hong Xia and her family got their character development moment. I wished we could have seen Granny Yu and her son's reunion. And I wish this story didn't have to be a "all of this is just a dream" plot. I knew it would be like this but I was hoping for another ending. The ending kind of just shown it for the purpose of "happy ending" bc there is no way Zhou Cheng would be in that current age if it were really time travel. So since I didn't read the novel, it is most likely another Zhou Cheng who also dreamed or I will assume that both are 2 timelines that just happened to intertwined. And it ended just like that with no other explanations like Xiaolan leaving the 1983 timeline, will the people there still remember her, and things like that.
But anyway, apart from the last 10 minutes of the ending that I didn't quite like, the whole drama is amazing. Great job for Zhou Ye and Xiao Wen, and also all of the casts. Also, Zhou Ye is so pretty. She could rock any era from 1983 to 2026.
I am already done but before that, can someone explain to me below (put spoilers) the whole story of the massacre…
So basically, since the Emperor is wary of CP Chengde, he started scheming against him. And Wei Yan's word was then the trigger? When he said the Emperor can abdicate and Li told it to the Emperor, the Emperor then asked Prince Changxin to lie about tiger tally being fake regardless of who brings it to ask for subordinates? At the same time, he forged a letter so that Wei Yan will go to the capital. So it's like a dual trap by the Emperor, either he gets branded as traitor for not being able to bring support and grains OR be branded as someone leaving his post due to personal affair. Am I right? Therefore, he sent Wei Qilin, despite knowing the after effects of sending him. And also, he knew CP and his brother-in-law will die on that war. So he still decided to go to the capital. The Emperor was the one who wanted to kill the Crown Princess and Qi Min, so Crown Princess started the fire. However, on that fire, to protect Wei Yan, Consort Shu sacrificed herself, so the affair won't be publicized and that he can still save himself from "abandoning his post" trap and have his whole clan dead. So his mistake in all of these, is letting it happen and sacrificing others for his personal agenda. Am I right? I hope I get that right from reading all the comments hahahahaha
I am already done but before that, can someone explain to me below (put spoilers) the whole story of the massacre bc I don't seem to get it. Why Wei Yan was said to be claiming the blame but then he is still sinful? Please explain to me like I'm slow (well, I am after a week of no sleep, my brain is foggy now). Thank youuuu!!!!
Update. Thanks to everyone who answered. I have the gist now from the commenta, if you can read it and confirm if I get it correctly then I am very thankful
Among people who hanged in front of the city gate, FCY's dad cannot be there, because he was alive and living…
oh yea you are right. I totally forgot. I just remember in the previews, FCY was talking about his father being a Wei then the camera pans to those hanged corpses so I forgot that his dad just died at the start of the drama. ok so then we wait for the next episodes to reveal it, thank youuu
Did they already explain what happened before? I kinda don't get it. All I know is there was a massacre and that XZ's dad was involved. I don't understand how is FCY's dad was related to it and the letter that was sent to WY. I also don't get or remember if they explained why were there 3 people hanged in front of the city gate which I assume was XZ's dad, FCY's dad and how is the Crown Prince related to this?
I felt like I missed out a huge chunk of information. Or is this not yet discussed in the drama?
WTF š - That's my comment for tonight's episode
It's so hard waiting for the next episodes. Anyway, just want to comment as well about the cinematography. Absolutely beautiful. I'm happy noticing slight color differences to change the mood. My mom is watching this drama with me as well. It's hard waiting bc I don't have a number of other dramas to fill my waiting time š„²
Good drama, I'd say. I think the casts did ok with the acting. The story tho is interestingly ok, esp from the first parts. Chemistry is there, the love story tho, kind of messy but it's fine, they look good together. The ending tho, I donāt know if that's how it is in the novel but it felt rushed. I don't know why the ML was written so not ML. Was the whole story in the novel the same which revolved mostly with FL and Aunt? It's fine if it is but in the drama, it feels like the ML was a 2ML, his story was like side story. No solid ending for him. Even their HE was so predictable. Introduction to disintegration came out of nowhere that he suddenly decided to really learn that skill (when?) and suddenly it miraculously healed his poison. Also, another story of master-disciple betrayal. I've seen it quite a few times that any drama with that trope of having a master and disciple, I automatically suspect betrayal now which kind of makes it a little predictable. Overall, still a good drama. I enjoyed it
Thatās why in the drama jiangmu is the one who chase jinzhao and jinzhao didnāt like her or he didnāt realize…
If you see someone whom you've treated as brother for your whole life and saw him as a handsome and hot man now, well he is, does it mean you will chase them so soon not even a month stay just bc you found out he isn't your brother? Bc Jiang Mu was like that. Also, handsome man and beautiful woman, stayed together for like 2 days in the same place bc her first few days she lived in his father's house right, not the garage place and she is in love immediately? I mean Jiang Mu started getting jealous after like staying a week or maybe two (bc drama timeline). How could she develop that? Brother for 20 years but wants to be his lover after a week? I didn't reach yet the part where Jin Zhao contemplated if it's familial love or romantic love but I'm sure I saw how they act with one another without any worries like what you are saying. Close face to face encounters? Telling he doesn't have a girlfriend so Jiang Mu wouldn't misunderstand? Those are things you do to someone you like romantically not familial. But as I said, if it work on you guys then ok, but some of us, we can't dismiss those facts. Yes, this is just a drama but they could have shown better closure for the past relationship first before proceeding to romantic acts. Yes, as a drama it is far from reality but this is a modern drama mirroring the modern times, modern situations and modern relationships. This is not some historical drama like the Rise of Ning with similar trope of growing up as siblings and learning they are not bc familial relationship is a bit weird on that era. Anyway, I had high hopes honestly, Esther and He Yu have some serious hot chemistry. The story tho can't really reach me.
Honestly agreed and this type of morally gray stuff really affect me at some point I was so nauseous watching…
Jin Zhao knew but Jiang Mu didn't. Atleast for the 10 years (or more) of her life. The moment they saw each other, the drama already shown sparks flying all over the place. Those near face to face when reaching things aren't for "childhood friends" who treated each other as siblings but these acts and Jiang Mu's face showing awkward nervousness are for flirting/teasing someone you like. Also, a childhood friend who feeds you as a baby? These are the likes that a sibling will do. Feed you, help change your diapers (not shown but on the same level) and etc. This is why it's hard to acknowledge this as a childhood friend trope. If people are able to get over this then I guess it worked for them. But for some of us, it is hard to watch. If they didn't show those childhood memories, maybe it would have work, the same way in Go Ahead where the 3 of them were literally childhood friends. Not saying the chemistry is bad. I think they have good chemistry, it is why I said, sparks are already flying all over the drama the moment they saw each other and how they act with one another. I wish they didn't have to start the drama showing they grew up as siblings and Jiang Mu knowing he is her brother for 19 years. They could have explicitly said Jin Zhao was adopted and stayed at their house but they started it with Jiang Mu's mom confessing Jin Zhao isn't her brother after almost 20 years and the next scene is her chasing her "brother" and getting jealous the moment Snakey was mentioned twice. I didn't know if it's similar to the story of the novel but maybe they could have solidified separating past relationship first before the jealousy and flirting
Still contemplating on continuing this. I'm still at ep 7. I do have high hopes for this bc I saw it got popular without reading the synopsis. I like Shuxin and He Yu and I think they look good together but the romance doesn't work on me. I have no problem with JM being the initiative one. I am bothered by the relationship. I know they aren't biologically siblings but the fact that they treated each other as siblings for years. Imagine 14 years for JZ treating her as a sister before moving away. And JM knew he is her brother for 19 years (correct me if I'm wrong) and then suddenly at 20 years old, she is now pursuing him. JZ treated her like a real sister, not just some neighborhood sister/childhood friend, he was there taking care of her when she was a baby. Also, at 20 years old why is JM still talking and acting like a teen. I know she speaks like that in real life (YSX) but she is 20 years old now, in her character, JM should be acting like one. I could pass of her other characters in some of her dramas bc they are indeed young (in fantasy or whatever age) so really I don't mind her voice. It's just like the character is 20 years old. Also, first few episodes is too much fights and some body thirsts. He Yu has a great figure but it's not once or twice, in just a few episodes, they focused on his body more than twice (which is admiring btw but why). Anyway, as I said, I donāt hate the actors ok, in fact, I tried watching it bc of them. Bc i like them and their dramas before. But yeah, I donāt know if I can continue. Also, to add, even though I'm not into cars but the racing plot does interest me but yeah, can't move on with the relationship bothering me
I like the cases. I like how they solve it and all. I like how the main leads think everytime they solve it but the main revenge plot is not what I expected. I thought it to be grand. But it isn't. Overall, an ok drama
Ohhh I didn't expect to like it. I was just trying to watch something and this is such a good drama!! I love that the ML and FL are both intelligent and confident. I love how RSB thinks a lot of times. I guess this is also the first drama I've seen how Gulnezer really acts bc I've seen her in other ones and she is mostly has lesser screen time. For Minghao, I've seen him a lot of times and he is good but I noticed things bc maybe it is already in his face which has a natural smiley lip and cute eyes but there are times where I can't decipher if he is serious/sad/have some hidden thoughts bc he seems smiling. This isn't a hate ok so don't come at me. It seldom happens, I just noticed it in this drama but he is still a good actor. The story is ok. There are so many twists and hidden truths. The characters, so glad to see CX here playing YX. I would also love to see more how the relationship between YY and SB actually strengthen and how YY matures. I love the family politics that eventually made them closer. I just don't get the part about SB's dad but idc anymore. Anyway, that was a good watch.
Just finished the drama. Itās been months since I stopped watching Cdramas for a while bc it doesnāt get me interested. I have started watching 2 new dramas, this one and the Jadewind drama, although the other one is still ongoing so I decided to watch this one. And I got to finish this one first lol. I've seen this drama's trailer since last year bc CL had lots of drama lineups and I was waiting for it. I did not expect the drama to turn dramatic towards the end bc the trailer was fun and funny. Watching it felt similar to ADWAD.
HDY is a great watch. To me, it showed the ML and FL's acting prowess than their previous dramas. I also love the plot and how the characters were written. The side characters all have their own arcs, even the villains have backgrounds. I just wished XY story was different but I understand it is necessary bc her story needs to end. I didn't know if this has donghua or novel when I started watching but seeing the comments it seems like it has. I felt the ending is too rush like the next morning they are suddenly back and saw each other as soon as they returned. But overall, it is enjoyable, fun and emotional. Great drama, great cast!
