Title Love and Crown Spoiler
I see a lot of people complaining about the script, and although I agree with most things being said, we have to remember that the FL is biased.

On one side there is her father who spoiled her since a kid and a man who is like a real brother, on the other side is a man she just met, fell in love with and then found out almost nothing about him was true.

From her perspective this man kills her master (who was like a second father to her), forces her into marriage and living a life without freedom in a role she never wanted, tortures and chops off a finger of her dear brother and uses his life to threaten her, treats her warmly one moment and coldly the other, ... I would have a hard time trusting such a man too, even if I love him.

She is just now starting to find out the truth and it will take some time for her to start taking action. Were you all expecting her to be like: oh, my father who has always showered me with love is the bad guy? And the man I hated/loved until a minute ago is actually the good guy? Let me help him bring my father (and possibly the entire Ling clan, including my younger brother who is a good man) down for the good of the people.

I mean, this is what will probably happen, but not right away. She is caught between 2 people that she loves, taking a side is not something that she can do right after finding the truth.

I think the biggest problem was dragging the misunderstandings for so long and then clearing some of them in a few seconds on ep 21 in such an underwhelming way. It would have been better if this was done sooner so we could have time to see her character develop and her deciding to help the Emperor bring her father down.

The way this is going I am afraid we will get a rushed tragic ending. Which is why I agree with the people complaining about the script while also agreeing with the people defending the FL.

I'm not sure that is a good thing. I have not started watching it yet but I don´t like when they westernise Asian…
You got a point. I don´t think I ever came across a Chinese drama that has a western vibe. At most, part of it will be filmed abroad but still keep its' Chinese identity. And I have actually come across a few that are pure Chinese propaganda so yeah, they should not follow K-drama trend to americanize their plot anytime soon.

Out of those 3 I only watched Rattan. I liked it but it was not my cup of tea. It will probably be the same for this one. But I guess we don´t have to love all dramas we watch. I will give it a try once I finish a few I am currently watching.

Ok. That is different then. I like dark.

it's so good, it doesn't look like CDramas, it's like western dark dramas ❤️‍🔥
I'm not sure that is a good thing. I have not started watching it yet but I don´t like when they westernise Asian dramas, have been doing that a lot to kdrama the last few years and I did not like any of them.

If I wanted to watch western shows, I would be watching them. When I watch Asian dramas I am expecting them to be their own thing and not try to be western.

I will still give it a try for the cast but both the summary and the comments make me think that unfortunately this might end up not being my kind of drama. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

I agree with most people that say that the second half or so was better but I still feel like there was too much going on and the amnesia thing lasted longer than I expected. What happened after was also what I thought would happen and it was frustrating that they decided to go that route.

I have mixed feelings. The acting was great and I liked some things about it but there were also some subplots that felt out of place, too many dead moments, too much romance?? (I never thought I would say this) and not enough action. I cannot really explain but if I would sum it up - this is a drama that I'm glad I watched BUT that I would not watch again, if that makes sense.

Unfortunately, yes. It was a pretty good one too, compared to eps 13 and 14 that wasted too much screen time on…
Not much of a jdrama watcher here.

Started the whole asian fever as a kid with anime, then manga and then in 2010 with asian dramas but for some reason even tho I love anime, I found jdrama to be a bit cringy. Maybe because the acting is a bit over the top like in anime but with real people it feels weird.

But I watch some once in a while. The most recent one that I found good (at least most of it) was Alice in Borderland but I am sure you already heard about that one and might not be your type of drama.

Yeah, I usually do not watch Philippine dramas but have had one on my plan-to-watch list for the longest time because it is taking forever for all the episodes to come out. I did not even start it because what if I like it and then have to wait so long to watch the next episode, I would rather wait for all the episodes to come out.

I guess its because waiting even a day can feel too long sometimes. ^^'

Jdrama, yes, kdrama is usually 2 eps per week but yeah, Chinese dramas usually have a lot more episodes but air for shorter times because there are new episodes everyday instead of once or twice a week.

Only one episode today?
Unfortunately, yes. It was a pretty good one too, compared to eps 13 and 14 that wasted too much screen time on the supporting characters.

Watching Chinese dramas you never know what you will get. Usually you get 2 eps a day but then some days they give you 1 (or none) and then near the end they release the last 6 episodes all on the same day.

Errm! What’s happening here? Does our Preceptor become a villain? 👇https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSfNKNEvc/
I did not watch the video you shared to avoid spoilers but I would not be surprised.

She is in love with him, the kind that is a bit obsessive and she does not like seeing him sacrifice so much for a woman she thinks does not deserve him. If he was doing all this for her then she would gladly accept it.

I think we will be seeing more and more of her trying to get rid of the empress and when the emperor finds out and cuts ties with her, she will probably be so angry that she will direct her hatred towards him too. By the way he has told her off so many times when she crosses the line, I'm pretty sure when he finds out she is trying to hurt the empress, he will not tell her off in a kind manner.

Today's episodes were a bit boring for me. A big chunk of the screen time was given to the supporting characters. There were a few scenes with the FL that I liked but they were very little. Hopefully tomorrow's episodes will be more interesting.

I agree with everything you said. Lol just had to say that because I hate non communication. It just makes it…
I honestly think that aside from the obvious (love and faithfulness) communication and trust are essential for a relationship to work.

If you don´t talk, misunderstandings will happen. If you cannot trust him/her, you can never feel at peace when the other person is not around or when he/she says something. You will always be second guessing everything. Not healthy at all.

I really want to knock some common sense into the male lead...the way he is choosing to protect her is only causing her more pain and giving the upper hand to the enemy. Communication is essential for any relationship to work. She will eventually find the truth anyway, she will just be in pain while she doesn´t and will be in even more pain when she does.

The FL is no better. Girl, you're way too innocent (dumb) for your own good.

This is all so frustrating but at the same time I love to hate this drama, if that makes sense.

Although this was not my cup of tea (the plot was not really to my taste and there were way too many characters), one thing is for sure - they must have had a big budget cause almost all of the big actors and actresses that usually play main leads or 2nd main leads are all here. ^^'

I know the actor playing the male lead but the actress is new to me. It seems like she has played supporting characters…
Yes and it seems like she was the second female lead there but I watched it back in 2023 and do not really remember her. But to be fair I have not started watching this one yet so maybe when I see her face I will find her familiar.

watched first ep - lowkey the cast was not what I had in mind for the main characters but its okay, will give…

Doesn´t really matter. As long as the plot is good I will watch it even if the actors are not that well-known. They all need to start somewhere.
