Spoiler Warning: This comment contains spoilers for Joy of Life Season 3 (based on the novel).
Just heard rumors that Lin Waner and Fan Xian get divorced in the original novel, and Fan Xian ends up with Haitang Duoduo. Is there any truth to this? Since I haven't read the novel myself, could someone explain if this is a likely plot point for the S3, or will production team deviate from the source material?
The only thing I truly love about this series is the beautiful costuming and the unique makeup for the actresses. I loved little Dong Fang Yue and the child actor who played that role too.
While the visuals are stunning, the storyline is outdated, repetitive and predictable (actually there's nothing to predict in the first place). There's also zero chemistry between the two main leads (frankly, the side couple's story is far more engaging).
I wasn't expecting Gong Jun's acting to be so mediocre, even subpar at times. Yang Mi's performance isn't particularly strong either. After TMOPB & TLOF I can't seem to get any interesting xianxiΓ‘s or period dramas from her.
Director could have put the bit effort into fighting scenes including editing parts but that's also bad here (gosh, this is a major budget project, isn't it? Then what kind of outcome is this? ). I am not a romance sucker or need the romance right away type of viewer, but if you can't keep me engage especially through the plotline , then the show falls flat for me.
Those who are saying it is too early to judge/ say anything about the main leads chemistry and drama, i belive i gave it a fair shot by watching 10 episodes. Also, I don't see Tushan Hong Hong & Yue Chu as mother-son dynamic as some viewers are sayin here. As this is a xianxia those kind of troupe are acceptable for me. The age gap between the actors isn't an issue for me either.
For me, The biggest problem lies in its storyline and how it is executed. Just Hoping Love In Pavillion and Sword and Beloved won't dissapoint me like this one did.
Also, This comment isn't meant to discourage viewers who are loving the show or planning to watch it. If you're enjoying it, that's good! If not, give it a try and form your own opinions.
I'm just sharing this as someone who'd been waiting for the show to release since filming began. Unfortunately, after watching it, I was disappointed.
I'm giving this an 7.5. miight continue watching it later if I feel like it, otherwise I'll pass.
I've never witnessed this kind of crazy results in C-Drama history!
Broke the 27K Heat Index in 54 minutes after it started premiering. Broke 30K in 1 hour and 2 minutes. Broke 31K in 1 hour and 8 minutes (68 minutes). Broke 32K in 2 hours and 6-minute (126 minutes)
im halfway on the show, but i think I'll be dropping this for now. it's not keeping me hooked up & it just felt…
I finished it, but I didn't get the hype. Initially it was good but slowly it started getting boring as well as confusing at a times & I ended up skipping a lot.
I'm rating it: 9.5/10. Highly recommended! I just started watching this randomly, but it turns out to be one of the most unique & beautiful C-dramas I've ever seen.

I don't want them to separate....
