i was a bit shocked by that scene.
I was like, wow this ML is really crazy 😂 Then when he realized the FL was afraid of water, he immediately started explaining to her about the water pressure being heavy because of blah blah blah to calm her down.
And i was thinking, wow he can explain water pressure inside a car like that — does that mean this ML often drives himself into the water with his car or something ? 😂

I don’t think i skipped anything, but I’m still confused even at episode 3.

In my opinion, there still hasn’t been any clear or meaningful explanation or information up to episode 3 about the ‘Nanshan Hunters(?)’ organization, or the organization Ms. Lin belongs to, or even about ‘Dixiao(?)’.
Not to mention the ML and FL’s backgrounds, which still aren’t explained clearly aside from the fact that the ML is a GM and the FL works in the arts.
So I guess i have to try watching a few more episodes

I’ve tried watching 3 episodes, and my conclusion is that i’m still confused about what this story is, what it’s actually about, and who all these people are — and who the ML and FL really are 😅
i don’t want to buy the express pass yet because i’m still confused about the plot and not excited about the story yet. it seems like the story is a bit slow 🧐

I agree, Vic’s acting here isn’t good, especially her eyes that look like she’s sleepy (which is a bit distracting to me), but she’s good in martial arts, supported by her background as a dancer and her training in traditional chinese dance

Yes, that’s right. I’ve read up to chapter 24 and i can say with confidence that the drama doesn’t follow the novel.
In the novel, it’s clearly a rebirth story, but the drama isn’t.
The plot is different, though the basic premise is the same, Chu Yu marries Wei Jun (the eldest brother). And personally, i prefer the novel and Chu Yu’s character is better in the novel

It seems like the ending isn’t satisfying, right? I’ve already seen the ending spoilers on XHS, and even chinese netizens feel the same as us international fans—disappointed 🫢.
I even remember someone commenting that Fugui’s feelings for QT in the end don’t look like love, but more like he just pities to QT. Well, I agree 🫢. I’ve already paused at episode 27 because i’m tired of the overly dramatic Black Fox plot and don’t feel like continuing for now.

But seeing how the plot gets messier toward the end, i think I don’t want to continue watching at all 🫢.
Well, at least the early to mid plot arcs were better compared to the middle to the end

So the story is that Chu Yu pretended and lied to the Wei family, saying that Wei Jun already had a marriage agreement with her (even though that agreement didn’t exist at all and they had no relationship whatsoever).
Chu Yu said that so she could enter the Wei family and investigate the matter about the crossbow.
Yeah, that’s roughly the story 😬

But if we go by the novel, it’s not like that.
Because in the novel, Chu Yu is reborn and then chooses to marry Wei before the incident where she elopes with Gu, in order to avoid the same events that happened in her previous life when she was with Gu

I want to rant a bit more, aside from Vic’s acting in this drama, which i personally think isn’t good (not because of her age or looking older, etc. - purely because her facial acting/expressions are bad).

I was quite surprised when I found out that the director of this drama is the same person who directed A Journey To Love, a drama I really love (let’s just forget about the ending 😓).
Because in my opinion, the editing in this drama is really bad. Especially in episode 19 and the directing of the fight scenes.
In episode 19, during the slow-mo scene with the sunset (?) or sunrise (?) background— I don’t know, but the background looked so fake LOL.

Then the fight scene in episode 17… what?? Why are there so many top-down shots, and then only a few zoom shots—and even those zooms are just on their faces, not the actual fighting (yeah probably because of the stuntmen). But still, it just looks really bad.
Ugh, the fight scenes are so noticeably poorly edited here.

And the scene where they fall off the cliff— we clearly see there’s a river down there (if I’m not mistaken LOL), but then suddenly the water turns into something that looks like a fish pond 🐟

And one more winner is Liu Yu Ning 🫢
Coincidentally, his OSTs also came out for three dramas that are airing at the same time — and all three just so happen to feature CHS. LOL

I’m already at episode 27, and my excitement for this drama has dropped drastically.
It’s so different from the early to mid episodes, which I used to look forward to and get excited about every time.
Huft, what’s wrong with the writer? Why did the plot turn out like this 😒 I’m honestly exhausted from following the storyline.
Also, the dynamic between FG and QT as a couple (or maybe “partners in crime,” since there’s never been any official confirmation that they’re actually a couple 😬) has declined sharply. There’s no trust, support, or backup from QT toward FG because of the overly long separation arc. Ugh, I’m so frustrated! They’re repeating the same mistake as in Red Moon Pact, where I also started getting annoyed halfway through the show LOL.

It would’ve been better if the story had focused more on the trio’s journey — Fugui, Rumu, and Yunfei 😬
Or more precisely, it should’ve been about the life journey of the “military weapon” and his followers 🫢

At this point, all I can do is pray that this drama ends soon 🫣

Actually, my comment was just about her acting.
As for Victoria looking old and all that, it’s relative since everyone has different opinions.
I still think she’s beautiful and i think it’s perfectly fine for Vic to be paired with DYX.
hmmm it’s just that her acting is bad when it comes to expressing emotions

I can actually overlook the issues that most netizens here are complaining about — like the lack of chemistry, the huge age gap between the FL and ML, or how the FL looks much older when paired with the ML. I can accept all of that as long as i enjoy the storyline and the actors’ performances.

But for this drama, what i don’t enjoy is Victoria’s acting. The further the story goes, the worse her facial expressions get — her expression acting just looks bad. I’ve mentioned in here before that i find Victoria’s expressions really stiff, especially around her eyes and mouth. But by episode 15, it’s gotten even worse. Her facial expressions in certain situations or scenes all look the same to me 😓
Especially her eyes — why her eyes look so empty and tired ? look really lifeless, like there’s no emotion at all, just stiff. That’s what makes it hard for me to enjoy or even keep watching. It’s a pity, because in the earlier episodes, her expressions still looked fine and even quite cheerful 😅

But i have to hang on, because my main reason for watching this is to see where the story goes, and most importantly, i already bought the express package 😅

Okay, i get that she’s angry because she was used, but like the ML said, it was the FL who used him first from the start — she even took advantage of his eldest brother’s death by pretending she had a marriage agreement with him beforehand 😒
On what basis is the FL even angry? Clearly, it’s her behavior that’s totally wrong. She even brought up the issue of the ML slashing his sword at her during the burial.
Well, if i were the ML, i’d definitely be suspicious too and wouldn’t trust the FL.
It’s weird — in this episode i just don’t like the FL’s character, she’s kinda annoying.

Hopefully it’s only in episode 11 that she’s like this

And one more thing — this is just my opinion, but Victoria’s facial expressions seem a bit stiff to me.
I’m not sure if it’s her eyes or her lips, but it’s like she just got botox and they ended up looking kind of rigid 😬
Her eyes and mouth don’t look natural when she’s acting

This trio is so funny 😆 I can’t wait to see more of their funny scenes together 🤣
I even forgot that Fu Gui is still waiting for Qing Tong.
I hope the trio’s story lasts a bit longer 😆

And what i like about the plot of QT and FG’s separation is that it shows us QT really is smart, just like FG said. She didn’t just blindly believe her brother’s words and even secretly looked for a way to get away from him.
Especially now that QT has started to get suspicious of her brother.
I was a bit worried she might turn into an evil spirit because of the misunderstanding caused by her brother.
