After watching 140+ Kdramas, this was my first Cdrama.
This is a true slice of life. There is no plot. There are no serial killers, murder subplot, no side couples, no antagonist or jilted ex-lovers. First episode is a dagger to heart to set the stage. Next 5 episodes are the painfully boring. But if you get past 6 episodes, you will start enjoying this drama.
Season-1 was a good drama. The world building was good. Characters had arcs and it was never boring even for a minute. OST could have been better. For the first time, I saw a 100 year old dude in love triangle. It was really a good choice to make royal prince a character with different emotions rather than making him the template bad guy.
Season-2 was not required and felt unnecessary. Story should have ended with Season1.
I waited for this to complete airing so that I can binge watch. I am also happy to see that the ratings have started to increase from 8.2 to 8.3 after it has completed airing.
This is a satisfying 12 episodes watch. This may not have a great standalone OST drama, but definitely the background music is on point and worth mentioning.
After watching 130+ dramas for first time, I decided to pause the last episode and sleep instead of staying up to finish a drama. The story was over by 14th episode and we got 2 full filler episodes in a drama which was a filler. This drama feels like a wasted potential.
Would it have been a better story if they actually made the series about the subplot of 4 friends who went to Seoul to live their dreams?
This would have been a great drama too. 7 episodes of pre memory loss bickering, 8th episode ending with memory loss, 6 episodes of post memory loss romance, 1 episode breakup and 1 episode of finale.
It's just meaningless, senseless, disjointed compilation of scenes. Plot is shit. Characters are together for no reason. Even for a 33 episodes drama, the relationship feels rushed and unrealistic because there was no real build up that warrant's relationships. Second couple was even more weird because they became couple for no reason. Leads bickering feels weak. So not great love/hate relationship either.
Most characters feel fake and forced. Just showing same trees did not make this a healing drama. Maybe this drama was suffering from Covid while being made.
First half of this drama reminds me of Call It Love, even though the plot is not the same. It is difficult to fit this in a genre. Is it forbidden love? Serial killer? Mystery? Melodrama? I am not sure. There are not many dramas that portray the aftermath of a crime on Perpetuator's family and how it destroys them.
Second half of the drama totally undo's all the goodwill earned in the first half. This drama is unnecessarily long and has the most incompetent and cartoonish police I have ever seen. Seems like the drama makers ran out of material to fill 16 episodes and started using old scenes as flashback repeatedly. They could have spent some episodes covering other victim families, if they did not have material for episodes. The climax appears lifted straight from 'I hear your voice'.
This is potential wasted kind of drama. I rated it 7/10
Pure, unadulterated, undiluted revenge is one way to describe this one. Suspend your reality, ignore some character inconsistencies and questionable decisions by villains and you have a 9/10 drama.
First 7 episodes were the funniest and strongest in any drama that I have watched so far. Rest of the episodes were funny but in certain parts. It is certainly a enjoyable drama and worth watching. I am not sure who came up with the turtle premise and it was ridiculous and equally funny.
There is not one scene that will stick with you nor one scene that you would want to watch again. This drama is just a random compilation of scenes where even the MLs are side characters in their own story.
It was a good drama overall. All the couples are basically love at first sight and all of them have a good backstory. Without overblown CGI, fantasy element was done well.
I understand why people complain about drama becoming slow in the middle. But I guess the makers tried to give background story for each character even the ones which don't have enough screentime. There are some things which did not really make sense like the return of the bullied girl. She had no impact or screentime after her return which makes you question whether it got cut while post-production or writers took a different path while making the drama.
I do have a lingering thought. Would the story have been even better if the order of episodes was done differently? Would it have been better for the parent's story to be shown first rather than as backstory? I guess the makers did the reverse to grab the eyeballs of the viewers. The hype of the younger couple did make the drama mainstream.
Drama was fun at most times. Cases represented different issues in society. Big bad villain was weak and climax was meek. ML plays the same role irrespective of whether A Korean Odyssey, Vagabond or this. Fans get a final fan service episode.
The number of kisses and near sex scene is never directly proportional to so called chemistry between the leads. Hope drama makers realize this.
It was never good to begin with but got really weird at about 12th episodes. It got weirder with every passing minute and you just start laughing at the insanity of whatever plot unfolds. One thing for sure, I am not going to watch any drama that has misunderstanding as a tag.
I have a new appreciation of these types of drama. This drama is well-made and successfully side stepped all well-known cliches.
- Both ML and FL had characters who had known them for more than 10 years. It felt good that triangles were totally avoided. - Breakup and reconciliation - They side stepped it brilliantly. - Side stepping the mystery guy paying hospital fees with the obvious choice. Using that opportunity to convey "Dont drink and drive" message.
Beginning it felt like it would be light crime solving supernatural comedy. Midway they seemed to want to turn into a serious show but didn't feel it was the right choice. The tone was inconsistent even if they tried to go serious.
Best way to describe the drama is, if you take liberal doses of Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, mix it with Goblin and use Hotel Del Luna for garnishing, you end up with From Now On, Showtime! Even though it was fun, I don't think I will remember even one scene from this drama after few days.
There are no big heroes or villain in this. Just a comforting drama where first few episodes were hilariously. The drama sure had its moment. I rated it 7/10.
First 2 episodes were good but last 2 episodes introduced unnecessary complications, which I felt was not suited for a 4 episodes drama. The ending was as expected and happy. I rated it 6.5/10
